Wed Aug 20 201421:18Cabrera (hamstring) will resume baseball activities Thursday
Cabrera (hamstring) will resume baseball activities Thursday, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
With Cabrera just now ready to start back up with baseball activities, a return Monday when first eligible is almost certainly out of the question and return before the end of August is no lock. Alexi Amarista has started all but one game at short for the Padres since Cabrera hit the shelf.
Tue Aug 12 201415:34Everth Cabrera: Placed on DL
Cabrera (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to August 10.
The injury sidelined Cabrera on Sunday and Monday, and is the same hamstring that knocked him out of action earlier this season. Jake Goebbert was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to replace Cabrera on the roster.
Mon Aug 11 201417:50Everth Cabrera: (Hamstring) Out Again Monday
Cabrera (hamstring) isn't in the lineup Monday vs. the Rockies.
Cabrera experienced cramping in his left hamstring prior to Sunday's game and will sit out his second straight contest on account of the issue. Given that it was a left hamstring strain that resulted in Cabrera's DL stint in July, expect the Padres to proceed cautiously with the shortstop.
Sun Aug 10 201415:07Cabrera scratched from Sunday's lineup with left hamstring cramp
Cabrera was scratched from Sunday's lineup with a left hamstring cramp.
Cabrera was scratched just before the first pitch Sunday with what is now known to be a hamstring injury. He is officially listed as day-to-day, but the team will likely update his timetable if it requires more than a couple days for his recovery.
Sun Aug 10 201413:59Cabrera scratched from Sunday's lineup against Pirates
Cabrera was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Pirates, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The absence came just prior to first pitch, with the Padres yet to offer any reason for Cabrera's late scratch. The team should provide more clarity on the situation after the game, but it seems likely Cabrera could be dealing with an injury. Alexi Amarista will replace him Sunday at shortstop and in the leadoff spot.

Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a walk and a pair of stolen bases in Saturday's win over the Pirates.
Since the calendar flipped to August, Cabrera has been red hot at the plate, collecting 12 hits in 25 at-bats over the last six games. With the two steals Saturday, Cabrera now has 18 on the season, but five of those swipes have come during the aforementioned streak.
Sat Aug 2 201404:39Cabrera 4-5 with two runs scored and one RBI against Braves on F...
Cabrera went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI against the Braves on Friday night, while stealing his 14th base of the season.
The Padres hitters were on fire in this one with 20 total hits with Cabrera managing to net a fifth of them. Cabrera has had a season to forget in which nagging injuries have kept him from swiping bases. The good news is that since being activated from the DL on Tuessday, Cabrera has gone 6-for-16 with three runs scored. It could be a sign of good things to come over the last two months, assuming the time off on the DL cured Cabrera's woes.
Thu Jul 31 201413:02Cabrera has contributed hit in both games since activation from ...
Cabrera has contributed a hit in both games since his activation from the disabled list Tuesday.
He's gone 2-for-7 with a walk, a run and a pair of strikeouts. In addition to modest success at the plate, he's manned shortstop on both occasions, converting a pair of double plays with second baseman Jedd Gyorko, who was similarly activated from the DL this week after a lengthy absence. Because there's been no talk of a cap in playing time, expect Cabrera to cover short most days going forward.
Tue Jul 29 201416:10Padres activate Cabrera (hamstring) from DL
Padres activated SS Everth Cabrera from the 15-day disabled list.
Cabrera wound up missing close to four weeks with a left hamstring strain. The speedy shortstop has posted a hideous .218/.256/.290 batting line in 80 games this year and he's just 13-for-20 in stolen base attempts.

Everth Cabrera (hamstring) has been sent to Triple-A El Paso to begin a rehab assignment.
Cabrera was cleared for game action after running the bases Sunday with no issues. He should rejoin the Padres before the end of the month if he can avoid a setback. The speedy shortstop has been out since July 1 with a left hamstring strain.

Everth Cabrera (hamsting) will run the bases on Sunday.

Wed Jul 2 201413:47Everth Cabrera (hamstring) placed on DL
Padres placed SS Everth Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 1, with a left hamstring strain.
It's not clear at this point how much time Cabrera will miss, but obviously he won't return before the All-Star break. Alexi Amarista figures to receive the bulk of the playing time at shortstop while Cabrera is on the shelf.

Tue Jul 1 201419:04Cabrera scratched with strained hamstring
Everth Cabrera was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a strained left hamstring.
Cabrera admitted that he's not sure whether the ailment will send him to the disabled list, so it sounds like it might be more than a mild strain. The Padres should provide an update on the shortstop's status later Tuesday.

Sun Jun 29 201401:37Everth Cabrera goes hitless in loss
Everth Cabrera went 0-for-3 as the Padres' No. 7 hitter in Saturday's loss.
Cabrera has mostly been hitting second of late, but he belongs at the bottom of the order right now, if he belongs in the lineup at all. It's one thing that he's batting just .218, but his 81/16 K/BB ratio is completely ridiculous for the kind of hitter he is. Jace Peterson may get a long look at shortstop later this season if this keeps up.

Tue Jun 24 201401:12Cabrera goes 2-for-4 with RBI and 2 runs
Everth Cabrera went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 6-0 triumph over the Giants.
Would you believe this was Cabrera's first multi-hit game of the month? He entered June with a mediocre .628 OPS, and has seen his numbers fall off the table with a putrid .129/.205/.143 slash line in June coming into this evening. The Nicaraguan shortstop broke out by batting .283 with 37 steals last year, but speed is the only thing that's been on his side in 2014 (on pace for 27 steals).

Sun May 18 201419:57Cabrera homers, swipes bag, but Padres lose
Everth Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.
Cabrera went deep in the ninth inning off of LaTroy Hawkins, his second homer of the season, to knot the game up at six apiece. He also swiped his ninth bag. Cabrera isn't known for his power; he'll need to hit for a high average, steal bases, and play good defense to provide value to the Padres. He's slashing .249/.277/.343 thus far.

Thu May 15 201421:14Cabrera smacks solo homer vs. Reds
Everth Cabrera smacked a solo homer in Thursday's win over the Reds.
The home run was his first since last May 25. It was just his fourth RBI on the year and his first April 27. Cabrera is off to a disappointing start this year following his PED suspension, but he has at least stolen three bases this month. He had just four in all of April.

Sun May 11 201413:38Everth Cabrera scratched from lineup
Everth Cabrera was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup because he's with his wife after she gave birth.
It's not clear at this point if the Padres will place Cabrera on the paternity leave list. With an off day coming Monday, they might not need to. Alexi Amarista is at shortstop Sunday in Cabrera's place.
