Lewis was masterful Friday night, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing six hits and one walk while striking out two in the Rangers' 2-0 win over Detroit.

Lewis (14-5, 4.29 ERA) is a good example of how winning isn't always a direct result of dominance for pitchers in the major leagues. The Rangers have a capable offense, and while Lewis doesn't always shut the opponents down, he frequently keeps his team within striking distance of a win.

Lewis picked up his 12th win despite allowing seven runs on 10 hits over six innings Monday against Houston.

All seven runs came on three home runs, including a fourth inning grand slam with the Rangers up 11-3. Lewis was pitching in low pressure situations throughout the game thanks to the big cushion the offense gave him with six runs in the first inning and five runs in the third. With an offense like that, it's no wonder Lewis can have a 12-4 record with a 4.68 ERA.

Lewis (11-4) allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out five in six innings Wednesday against the AL East-leading Yankees.

Lewis picked up his 11th victory and his third straight in as many starts. He's 7-1 in his last eight decisions despite a season ERA of 4.42. His 11-4 record, 1.19 WHIP and 101:25 K:BB ratio is not too shabby, though. He'll draw the Astros for his next scheduled start Monday.

Lewis struck out nine and walked one while giving up two runs on five hits over 7.2 innings in a winning effort against the Angels on Friday night.

He's now sitting with a 10-4 record this season, but it's backed by a 4.49 ERA (3.82 ERA). While there is some room for improvement expected given his control (4.8% BB%) and effectiveness against right-handed hitters (.293 wOBA), no qualified starting pitcher has induced a lower soft contact percentage than Lewis (13.3%) over the past calendar year. He'll face the Yankees at home Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Lewis (9-4) allowed one run on four hits and no walks over 7.1 strong innings Saturday against the Astros, striking out seven in the win.

Lewis was lucky to take an 8-4 record into the All-Star break, but he definitely earned his ninth win with this performance. The 35-year-old allowed less than three runs for the first time in four starts and his seven strikeouts were just one short of a season high. Even though he gives up more than a hit per inning, Lewis has been able to limit the damage due to his excellent walk rate (1.82 BB/9), and the Texas offense has rewarded the veteran with excellent run support. His next start will be on the road Friday against the Angels.

Lewis (8-4) gave up three runs on five hits over seven innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Saturday, while walking two and striking out five.

Lewis was in line for the win until closer Shawn Tolleson blew a 5-3 lead in the ninth inning. The right-hander has been fortunate to accrue an 8-4 record despite his 4.77 ERA, but his 3.96 FIP indicates that there is a strong chance of improvement on the horizon. Lewis has allowed at least three earned runs in six of his last seven starts, but holds a 3-1 record in that span thanks to excellent run support from the Rangers' offense. The 35-year-old will need to make improvements in the second half or his poor form of late will start to manifest itself in losses.

Lewis was blown up for 10 earned runs on 12 hits and two walks in just four innings Sunday against the Angels. Needless to say, he took the loss, which was his fourth of the season.

The Angels got to Lewis early and often, as they scored at least two runs in each inning he pitched in except the fourth. The veteran snapped a streak of six consecutive quality starts with this terrible outing, which raised his ERA to 4.83 on the season. The Cobra will look to get back on track Saturday against the Padres.

Lewis gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits with zero walks and three strikeouts over six innings Tuesday against the Orioles.

The ball was carrying out in Baltimore, with Chris Davis (twice) and Manny Machado tagging lewis for a trio of home runs that represented the bulk of the damage. However, Miguel Gonzalez got hit even harder, which allowed Lewis to be the unlikely winner Tuesday. He will take the ball again Sunday at home against the Angels.

Lewis was excellent Friday against the White Sox, striking out seven, walking none and allowing just one run over eight innings. The Rangers came from behind to earn the veteran his seventh win of the season.

The 35-year-old matched a dominant Chris Sale on the night and was able grind out a victory thanks to a blown save by Chicago's Dave Robertson. He has now posted four straight quality starts and has won three times in that span. 'The Cobra' will next face the A's at home Thursday.

Lewis won his sixth game of the season Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over seven innings, striking out six.

After coughing up 19 runs over his final three starts in May, no one was happier to see the calendar flip than Lewis, who's now got three QS in three June appearances with a solid 15:2 K:BB ratio in 21 innings. He'll try to make it four for four on Thursday, on the road against the Dodgers.

Lewis threw his second consecutive quality start Sunday against the Royals, allowing three runs over seven innings with five strikeouts and just one walk. He did not factor into the decision.

The veteran allowed some early baserunners, but was able to escape after only allowing a pair of sacrifice flies and really limited the Royals offense after the second inning. Lewis has bounced back nicely from three outings during which he allowed a total of 19 runs, and will look to keep things moving in the right direction against the Twins at home Saturday.

Lewis gave up two runs on six hits while issuing zero walks and striking out four over seven innings Tuesday against the White Sox.

He threw 71 of his 94 pitches for strikes and the Rangers were in control all night, hanging 15 runs on Chicago, which made things relatively stress-free for Lewis. This was a great bounce-back game for the veteran righty after he gave up nine runs in his last outing. Lewis has been feast or famine all season, but has generally been pretty reliable at home where he has a 3.34 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 32.1 innings (five starts) so far in 2015.

Lewis (4-3) was bombed for 10 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits in 2.2 innings Wednesday against the Indians.

Lewis had a good stretch of starts for a while there in late April and early May, but he's now been tagged for 21 runs (19 earned) in his last three starts, so it's awfully hard to trust Lewis in most fantasy formats. He'll next get the White Sox on Tuesday.

Lewis went five innings and allowed five earned runs while recording seven strikeouts in the 10-8 loss to the Indians on Saturday.

Amazingly, Lewis left in the sixth eligible for the win, but the bullpen imploded allowing three runs in the ninth inning. Lewis has been solid this season posting a 306 ERA over his seven starts. Lewis travels to New York next Friday to take on the Yankees in his nest start.

Lewis' fastball speed is down this season to just 88.5 MPH, but he's never been known for blowing past guys. In his past four starts, Lewis hasn't given up a home run and he's allowed just four combined earned runs. Lewis will look to continue his dominance Saturday against the Indians.

Lewis gave up six hits, one walk and one run to go with six strikeouts in eight innings to pick up the win against the Astros on Wednesday.

Lewis pitched eight solid innings to earn his first win in nearly a month. It helped that the Rangers scored 10 runs in the first five innings. Lewis lowered his ERA to 2.61, and he'll look to lower it even more when he faces off in his next scheduled start against the Royals on Monday.

Lewis tossed six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out eight, but came away with a no-decision in the Rangers 7-5 loss to Oakland Friday night.

The Rangers wasted a strong effort from Lewis who departed with a 3-0 lead. Texas extended the lead to 5-0 before the bullpen imploded during a seven-run eighth inning.

Lewis will start for the Rangers on Saturday against the Angels.

The Rangers shook up their rotation a bit when they recalled Wandy Rodriguez on Wednesday with the intention of starting him Friday, so this report brings a bit of clarity to the situation. Lewis will take the hill Saturday, followed by Nick Martinez on Sunday.

Lewis pitched six full innings Tuesday in a win over the Athletics, striking out four batters and walking two others while only giving up one earned run.

Lewis is trying to rebound from a 2014 campaign that saw him post his highest ERA (5.18) since 2007. Last year, he allowed an .840 OPS to opponents, and won just 10 games in 29 starts.

Lewis allowed the first six batters he faced to reach base, including back-to-back-to-back homers, before retiring the final three batters in his first outing this spring.

Lewis threw 35 pitches in the inning of work, and felt fine physically afterwards. He was pretty terrible last season despite leading the team in innings, and has a rotation spot all but guaranteed to begin the season. Tread very carefully here though, as he's no longer the sneaky source of strikeouts that he was a few years ago.
