Jerry Blevins picked up his first career save with a scoreless ninth inning Thursday in the Athletics' 4-3 win over the Rays. | ||||||
This comes a day after he was charged with his first blown save in 52 appearances of the season. However, that was more Michael Wuertz's fault than anything Blevins did wrong. Blevins, primarily a specialist, has a 3.86 ERA in 39 2/3 innings this season. | ||||||

The left-handed reliever has been day-to-day for most of the past week due to back spasms. "I'd say in the next couple of days [I'll be ready]," Blevins said Saturday. "You'll have to ask the experts, but I feel pretty good." He has a 3.38 ERA in eight innings this season. | ||||||
