LHP Jerry Blevins is a free agent, but there is a good chance he could return to the Mets. Blevins retired all 15 batters he faced over seven games before sustaining a broken left arm when he was hit by a comebacker on April 19. He was closing in on a return when he fell off a curb and re-broke the arm on Aug. 6. The Mets lacked a reliable left-hander all season, so a healthy Blevins would dramatically upgrade the bullpen.

Blevins (forearm) re-fractured his forearm Thursday after slipping off the curb Thursday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
Blevins, who was recently cleared to throw, will now likely miss the remainder of the season due to the re-injury. However, an official timetable has yet to be released, which should provide more clarity on the situation.
Thu Jul 30 201519:15Blevins (forearm)
Blevins (forearm), sidelined since mid-April, was cleared to throw Thursday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Blevins was off to a tremendous start before he was injured. While he has been out, the Mets have lacked a quality lefty reliever. Blevins will likely need several weeks before he is ready to come back, putting his possible return date towards the latter part of August.

Blevins (forearm) is expected to see a doctor within the next week and could begin throwing in the near future, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Blevins has been out since April with a fractured forearm, and he's yet to be cleared to throw. If he gets the green light from team doctors, he'll likely begin a program geared toward getting him back to the Mets by mid-to-late August.

Blevins, on the 60-day disabled list and out since April 19 with a broken left forearm, still has not been cleared to throw, GM Sandy Alderson said in a press conference Friday.
Blevins had his splint removed in mid-June, but after being examined by the Mets' doctors and getting a second opinion this week in Boston it was determined the bone has yet to fully heal. He will continue to rest and be reevaluated at the end of July to see if he is cleared to throw. As of now, it looks like Blevins may not be back until mid-to-late August.
Sat Jun 13 201514:56Blevins (forearm) transferred to 60-day DL on Saturday
Blevins (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Saturday.
This was merely a procedural move to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, as Blevins has already missed close to two months due to a fractured left forearm. A recent X-ray revealed that the bone still has not completely healed and thus Blevins remains shut down from throwing.

Blevins (forearm) has yet to resume throwing after X-rays revealed that his bone is not completely healed, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
Blevins suffered a fractured forearm in April after being struck by a Dee Gordon line drive. He was initially projected to be in a splint for six weeks, but that timeline has been pushed back as the bone continues to heal. Once the fracture has healed, he should be cleared to return to baseball activities.
Fri May 29 201518:15Blevins (forearm) could resume throwing in mid-June
Blevins (forearm) could resume throwing in mid-June, Mike Vorkunov of the Star-Ledger reports.
The lefty is now close to six weeks removed from suffering a fractured forearm, and if his follow-up X-ray shows sufficient healing, he could be cleared to start a throwing program next month. There is no set timetable for his return, but Blevins appears to have a chance to return before the All-Star break.
Mon Apr 20 201515:17Blevins (forearm) will be in splint for six weeks
Blevins (forearm) will be in a splint for six weeks, at which time he'll be re-examined to determine whether or not he can resume baseball actvities, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
Blevins will be placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday, allowing the team to call up Hansel Robles from Triple-A Las Vegas. While no firm timetable has been established for a return, he'll require some time to recover after getting out of the splint, likely making mid-to-late June an optimistic return date.

Blevins fractured his left forearm he was hit by Dee Gordon's liner in the top of the seventh inning Sunday, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.
Blevins' absence will be a huge loss for the Mets, as he had been dominant against lefties to start the season. Sean Gilmartin and Alex Torres will be relied upon more and a call up from the minors, possibly Scott Rice, will likely come Monday or Tuesday.
Tue Apr 14 201516:27Blevins not available for Tuesday's game against Phillies
Blevins is not available for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, The Record's Matt Ehalt reports.
The Mets don't want to use Blevins for a fourth time in five days, so Alex Torres will be the only lefty available out of the bullpen. Blevins has been excellent thus far, retiring each of the eight batters he's faced on his way to three holds in four appearances.

Blevins did the job again Monday, retiring all three lefty hitters he faced in the eighth inning to notch the hold in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Phillies.
Blevins set down Odubel Herrera, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. He has retired all eight hitters he has faced, striking out four while not allowing a baserunner. Blevins will continue to be the main lefty in the bullpen for the Mets.

Blevins retired all three lefty hitters he faced Sunday to pick up his second hold of the season in the Mets' 4-3 win over the Braves.
Blevins entered the game with one on and one out in the eighth and struck out Nick Markakis and Freddie Freeman. He then remained in the game to handle the opening batter of the ninth, the lefty-hitting A.J. Pierzynski, before giving the ball to Jeurys Familia for the save. Blevins should continue to serve as an eighth-inning bridge to whoever closes.

Blevins was traded to the Mets on Monday in exchange for outfielder Matt den Dekker, MLB.com reports.
The Mets have added another lefty to the bullpen after dealing for Alex Torres earlier Monday. Blevins, who will open the season on the roster, went 2-3 with a 4.87 ERA (64 appearances) in his lone season with the Nationals.

Blevins has struggled this spring, posting an 8.59 ERA and giving up four home runs through 7.1 innings.
Most of that damage has come against right-handed hitters, however, and Blevins does have a reassuring 10:2 K:BB ratio. Provided that Nats manager Matt Williams uses him primarily as a LOOGY, Blevins' regular season numbers should look much, much better.
Wed Feb 11 201511:53Blevins has won arbitration hearing and will be awarded one-year
Blevins has won his arbitration hearing and will be awarded a one-year, $2.4 million contract, James Wagner of the Washington Post reports.
Blevins will make $200,000 more than the $2.2 million offered by the Nationals heading into arbitration. The 30-year-old reliever will now turn his focuses back to spring training, as he prepares for 2015 as a possible LOOGY for the Nats.
Wed Dec 3 201410:50Blevins tendered contract prior to Tuesday's deadline
Blevins was tendered a contract prior to Tuesday's deadline.
He struggled at times last season, but Blevins was still effective against left-handers and could fill the Nats' LOOGY role in 2015.
Thu Mar 27 201415:48Jerry Blevins strikes out side
Jerry Blevins struck out three of the four Mets he faced to close out Thursday's win.
It'll be interesting to see how Matt Williams uses his two left-handed relievers, considering that neither Blevins nor Ross Detwiler is any sort of traditional specialist. The team probably should have kept Xavier Cedeno for that role just to remove any temptation Williams might have to use Blevins or Detwiler for one batter a night.

Nationals avoided arbitration with LHP Jerry Blevins by agreeing to a one-year contract.
