Mon Apr 23 201222:10Villanueva hits three treys for the Pistons
Charlie Villanueva hit three 3-pointers on Monday, scoring 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting with three rebounds and one steal in 18 minutes.
We won't begrudge him the lack of rebounds in such a small amount of minutes, and he is totally worth a look if you need points, boards, and especially threes in the Pistons' last game on Thursday.

Tue Apr 17 201222:26Charlie Villanueva nealry double-doubles
Charlie Villanueva had 10 points, eight rebounds, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer in 22 minutes on Tuesday.
CV is quietly coming on after going for 13 points in 19 minutes on Sunday. Jonas Jerebko had 14 points, four boards and a 3-pointer tonight, and both players are worth a look in deeper leagues by desperate owners.

Tue Apr 17 201214:14Charlie Villanueva to play backup PF
Charlie Villanueva will serve as the backup power forward in Tuesday's game against the Cavs.
Villanueva had 13 points in 19 minutes on Sunday. The problem is that as the backup "four," he's behind franchise player Greg Monroe. There's just not enough minutes there for owners to count on Charlie V. Jonas Jerebko will back up Tayshaun Prince at small forward Tuesday.

Sun Apr 15 201222:22Charlie Villanueva gets off for 13 points
Charlie Villanueva had 13 points in 19 minutes off the bench Sunday.
Villanueva has been out of the rotation for virtually the entire year, but showed his offensive abilities Sunday. However, it's unclear why Jonas Jerebko didn't play and Villanueva is still well behind Jason Maxiell at the power forward spot. We're not biting.

Sun Apr 8 201202:31Charlie Villanueva lost 30 pounds this season
Charlie Villanueva has lost 30 pounds since training camp began, and he's "dying to play," but Lawrence Frank doesn't want to mess with his team's current rotations.
The fact that CV had 30 extra pounds is itself concerning, but in fairness both Frank and trainer Arnie Kander have praised his work ethic as he got into shape despite an ankle injury. He's turning into a running punch-line due to his contract, but hopefully he'll keep this motivation throughout the summer and come back ready to play in 2012-13.

Wed Apr 4 201208:15Villanueva frustrated with playing time
Charlie Villanueva admitted that he's frustrated with his playing time.
Lawrence Frank previously said there was no room in the rotation for Villanueva, who is currently on a five-year, $35 million contract. "Mentally it's frustrating and hard because you worked so hard to get healthy and help the team out," Charlie V said. Villanueva has been completely irrelevant for fantasy owners this season.

Mon Apr 2 201210:59Frank: No room for Charlie V
Coach Lawrence Frank said there's no room in the rotation right now for Charlie Villanueva.
Frank is rolling with Greg Monroe, Jason Maxiell, Ben Wallace and Jonas Jerebko as his four bigs. Villanueva has appeared in just four games all season due to injuries and ineptitude.

Sat Mar 24 201222:20Villanueva scores first points of 2011-12
Charlie Villanueva scored five points in six minutes off the bench on Saturday, marking the first time he's scored in the 2011-12 season.
The punchline is that he's earning $7.5 million for his scoreless ways, which is more like a punch to the gut if you're a Pistons' fan. It's a black eye that Joe Dumars won't be rid of until 2014, barring use of the amnesty clause.

Sat Mar 24 201201:31Villanueva (ankle) a DNP-CD on Friday
Charlie Villanueva (ankle) was active and did not play due to coach's decision on Friday.
We're moving Charlie V off the injury report, and even if he is healthy we're not convinced that he can crack the rotation.

Fri Mar 23 201218:28Villanueva (ankle) to be active on Friday
Charlie Villanueva (ankle) will be active for the Pistons on Friday.
After missing Wednesday's game with a sore ankle, CV is going to give it a go. Villanueva has been a total and complete bust for Detroit and just because he is active for the Pistons doesn't mean he needs to be anywhere near your fantasy roster.

Wed Mar 21 201214:39Villanueva game-time w/ sore ankle on Wed.
Charlie Villanueva is a game-time decision on Wednesday due to a sore ankle.
If you're surprised by this news, you haven't been paying attention. The injury is to CV's "other" ankle, not the one that sidelined him to start the season. He might return to the rotation at some point, but he's not a fantasy option over the final weeks of the season.

Sat Mar 10 201222:17Charlie Villanueva makes season debut
Charlie Villanueva made his season debut on Saturday, playing three minutes in garbage time.
The Pistons led by 31 points going into the fourth quarter and we don't expect CV to be a regular part of the rotation any time soon. Ignore him unless his role increases.

Sat Mar 10 201207:24Villanueva (ankle) does not play on Friday
Charlie Villanueva (ankle) did not play on Friday despite being active.
We're not entirely sure he will see the floor, let alone play any meaningful minutes for the Pistons this season. It will mostly depend on his conditioning, and from there the question will be whether or not he can still be effective.

Fri Mar 9 201218:20Villanueva to be active Friday for Pistons
Charlie Villanueva will be active for the first time since the first two games of the season on Friday night.
Villanueva will be active, but it's not known how many, if any, minutes he will play in his first game back after his two-game, six-minute start to the year. It's safe to say that the five-year, $35 million deal that the Pistons gave CV back in 2009 looks like an awful big bust.

Fri Mar 9 201211:58Charlie Villanueva likely active on Friday
Charlie Villanueva (ankle) is likely going to be active on Friday against the Hawks.
Lawrence Frank said it's "trending" that way. Regardless of whether or not Villanueva is active, he's an afterthought for fantasy owners right now.

Thu Mar 8 201213:25Charlie Villanueva aiming to return on Friday
Charlie Villanueva (ankle) declared himself healthy enough to play on Friday against the Hawks.
Lawrence Frank said "we'll see," and would not commit to anything. Even if Villanueva manages to get back on the court, his minutes will likely be limited and he's not a fantasy option.

Wed Mar 7 201207:09Charlie Villanueva might be ready by weekend
Charlie Villanueva (ankle) said he "might" be available this weekend.
Villanueva is chomping at the bit to get going, but it's been a slow process after he's barely played this season. He's not on the fantasy radar.

Sat Mar 3 201210:30Villanueva down to a trim 235 pounds
Charlie Villanueva lost weight during his rehab from an ankle injury -- he is down to 235 pounds, the lightest he has been since his second year in the league.
The reduced weight is encouraging, but there's no reason for fantasy owners to pick up Villanueva. He needs to see how his ankle responds to a full-contact practice, and his conditioning is nowhere near where it needs to be.

Fri Mar 2 201214:39Charlie Villanueva practices on Friday
Charlie Villanueva (ankle) practiced in full on Friday.
Villanueva is very optimistic about his return, but fantasy owners have no reason to get excited just yet. He'll be worked in slowly to the Detroit rotation to prove he can stay healthy.
