Thu Mar 6 201401:17D.J. Augustin scores 26 points off the bench
D.J. Augustin made all 10 of his free throws against the Pistons on Wednesday, scoring a total of 26 points with one board, six assists and two 3-pointers in 31 minutes.
He's finally coming around again with 21.7 points per game over his last three. Augustin won't be cracking the starting lineup while Kirk Hinrich is healthy, but as long as he's taking around six shots per game from beyond the arc, he'll be worth owning in standard leagues.

Sun Mar 2 201415:43D.J. Augustin scores 21 points in 4th quarter
D.J. Augustin found his offensive rhythm late in Sunday's win vs. New York, scoring 21 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter.
He was 7-of-10 from the field with four 3-pointers and one steal. He didn't have any assists, unfortunately, and he's played under 27 minutes in each of the past three games. That's likely to be the case as long as Kirk Hinrich (11 points in 31 minutes) is healthy, and the recent arrival of Jimmer Fredette isn't going to help matters, making him a borderline option in most standard formats.

Fri Feb 28 201423:32Augustin goes for just nine and three
D.J. Augustin scored nine points on 3-of-7 shooting (including two threes) with zero rebounds and three assists in 25 minutes off the bench on Friday.
With the Bulls suddenly getting offensive contributions from many places it's possible they're not going to lean on Augustin as much, but owners will want to consider the injury risk to Kirk Hinrich and Augustin's body of work before they consider a drop. He's testing our patience and has a very short rope in 12-team formats.

Sun Feb 23 201418:13D.J. Augustin shoots 0-of-10 from field
D.J. Augustin shot 0-of-10 from the field during a loss to the Heat on Sunday, scoring two points from the line with two boards, five assists and no turnovers.
He's had success with the Bulls due to knocking down 44.5 percent from the field in his previous 34 games, but it was not there for him at all today. Augustin did bury a ridiculous 9-of-12 from deep over his last two and the law of averages had its say in the loss today. He's still worth owning in standard leagues.

Fri Feb 21 201423:19Augustin posts 22-5-8 line with five threes
D.J. Augustin went to town in the Bulls' 117-89 blowout win over the Nuggets on Friday, scoring 22 points on 5-of-10 shooting (5-of-7 from deep, 7-of-7 from the line) with five rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
Tom Thibodeau said DJA saved their season and he's right since Augustin is the team's best offensive player. Mike Dunleavy scored 10 points with five rebounds, six assists and three blocks, Joakim Noah went for 14 and 11 with five assists, one steal and three blocks, Kirk Hinrich scored 10 points with six rebounds, three assists and a steal, Taj Gibson went for 15 and 10 with a block and Tony Snell scored a career-high with 20 points, two steals and three treys in the win.

Wed Feb 19 201423:31D.J. Augustin scores 19 points in win
D.J. Augustin hit 7-of-15 shots and four 3-pointers for 19 points and one assists in Wednesday's win over the Raptors.
He combined with Kirk Hinrich for just one assist, but Jimmy Butler (6) and Joakim Noah (13) took care of the dimes for the Bulls tonight. DJA scored just eight points in his previous game, but was in double figures in his previous four games. The fact Hinrich is starting is a buzzkill for DJA's owners, but he's still getting between 26 and 31 minutes per game over his last seven games.

Thu Feb 13 201422:58D.J. Augustin still finding ways to produce
D.J. Augustin scored eight points off the bench on Thursday vs. the Nets with eight points, three boards, five assists and one 3-pointer in 28 minutes.
The move to the bench hasn't been all that bad for Augustin and he had nine triples in his previous four games. His shooting percentage is starting to slide again, but the output in steals, assists and 3-pointers make him worth holding in standard leagues.

Sun Feb 9 201418:34D.J. Augustin gets 30 minutes vs. Lakers
D.J. Augustin played 30 minutes off the bench against the Lakers on Sunday, scoring 15 points with one board, six assists, two steals and two 3-pointers.
Coach Tom Thibodeau went with the two-point guard lineup down the stretch and it worked out. Augustin's defense was surprisingly very good today, which has been an issue throughout his career. His fantasy owners shouldn't be complaining too much as long as long as they're not expecting him to match his 16.1 points and 2.6 triples from January.

Fri Feb 7 201401:28D.J. Augustin finally slowing down off bench
D.J. Augustin came off the bench against the Warriors on Thursday for 10 points, one board, one assist and one steal in 24 minutes.
It's his third game off the bench and his minutes have decreased in each outing. The Warriors played him a little tight on the perimeter to make tonight his first game without a 3-pointer since Jan. 2, so hopefully this isn't a popular move by defenses. Augustin getting so many shots from deep should help buoy his value and his owners should just hang tight. Of course, he's not going to be the No. 1 fantasy point guard he was representing in the second half of January.

Wed Feb 5 201400:34D.J. Augustin scores 18 off Bulls bench
D.J. Augustin hit 5-of-10 shots and three 3-pointers for 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 28 minutes off the bench on Tuesday.
We're not thrilled that Kirk Hinrich is starting over DJA, but Augustin is getting the minutes and still has plenty of fantasy value for now. Hinrich played 24 minutes and hit just 2-of-7 shots tonight, which is further evidence that DJA should be getting the point guard minutes in Chicago, even if it happens off the bench.

Tue Feb 4 201403:21Augustin scores eight points with seven asts
D.J. Augustin hit just 2-of-11 shots (including a three) with one rebound, seven assists and two steals in 31 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Kings.
Augustin ran into some smothering defense by Isaiah Thomas and Co. but the good news is that he held onto his minutes despite Kirk Hinrich (1-of-8 FGs, 19 minutes) getting moved into the starting lineup. We've talked about selling high in various spaces around here and owners may want to look into that after his next big game, but otherwise he should be in all lineups.

Sun Feb 2 201400:01D.J. Augustin scores 23 points vs. Pellies
D.J. Augustin scored a team-high 23 points against the Pelicans on Saturday with two boards, seven assists and one 3-pointer in 40 minutes.
Kirk Hinrich was way behind in the playing time department with just 18 minutes. Augustin has clearly won the job and his 31.1 minutes-per-game average with the Bulls may be on its way up. It's still hard to believe the Raptors waived him.

Thu Jan 30 201401:17D.J. Augustin goes for 15 & 5 in win
D.J. Augustin hit just 6-of-17 shots and two 3-pointers for 15 points, five assists and a steal in 38 minutes of Wednesday's win over the Spurs.
Augustin's playing time wasn't impacted by the return of Kirk Hinrich, as he started and played 38 minutes tonight. He struggles with his shot at times, but is still shooting 44 percent over his last five while averaging 19.2 points, 5.4 assists and 3.6 3-pointers. And the fact that Hinrich's return didn't hurt him is just icing on the cake.

Mon Jan 27 201423:16D.J. Augustin keeps rolling with 19 points
D.J. Augustin played well yet again during Monday's 95-86 loss to the Wolves, scoring 19 points with one board, six assists and four 3-pointers in 39 minutes.
He's only had one quiet game in his last five and has been the hottest property in fantasy hoops. In that span, Augustin averaged 21.6 points, 5.2 assists, 0.6 steals and 4.2 triples. He can't be benched in any league until proven other wise.

Sat Jan 25 201421:31D.J. Augustin stays hot in win over Bobcats
D.J. Augustin torched his former team for 28 points, three assists, two steals and six 3-pointers in Saturday's win over Charlotte.
DJA bounced back from an off night on Friday, but can still be classified as being on fire, averaging 21.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 3.8 3-pointers on 55 percent shooting over his last five games. And with Kirk Hinrich hurting and Derrick Rose done for the year, there's no reason he won't continue to be one of the better waiver-wire pickups of the season.

Sat Jan 25 201401:51D.J. Augustin runs into a wall on Friday
D.J. Augustin's hot streak came to an abrupt end on Friday with seven points, six assists and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes.
After scoring 27 points in back-to-back games, there was nowhere to go but down tonight. Augustin was waived by the Raptors earlier this season, so he was certainly going to cool off in some capacity. That said, he has a strong grip on the starting job right now with Kirk Hinrich (hamstring) hurt and is worth owning in all leagues even after Friday's hiccup.

Wed Jan 22 201423:22D.J. Augustin drops another 27-point game
D.J. Augustin scored 27 points for the second consecutive game on Wednesday against the Cavs, adding five boards, seven assists and five 3-pointers in 39 minutes.
He's the man right now and is absolutely rolling. Over his last five games, Augustin averaged 21.6 points, 3.8 boards, 6.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 3.8 triples in 32.8 minutes. The former Raptor couldn't cut it in Toronto and now he's just another example about how opportunity is the ultimate trump card for owners looking to attack the waiver wire. He should be owned in all leagues.

Tue Jan 21 201400:13DJ Augustin must-own after 27-point game
D.J. Augustin hit 10-of-16 shots and five 3-pointers on his way to a season-high 27 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal in 37 minutes of Monday's overtime win against the Lakers.
Kirk Hinrich left early with a hamstring injury, leaving DJA as the main point guard option for the Bulls. He was already worth owning in all leagues before Hinrich's injury, and after tonight's explosion, he should be your top target off the waiver wire tonight.

Sat Jan 18 201423:32Augustin posts 19-4-8 line despite ankle
D.J. Augustin played despite tweaking his ankle in Friday's game, scoring 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, eight assists and three steals in 28 minutes off the bench.
The Philly bump applies obviously but he has been the player to own between he and Kirk Hinrich for a while now. In that respect, he should be owned in most if not all formats.

Sat Jan 18 201410:12D.J. Augustin tweaks ankle in Friday's loss
D.J. Augustin tweaked his ankle in the fourth quarter of Friday's loss to the Wizards.
He finished with a respectable 16 points, four 3-pointers, two assists and one steal in just 19 minutes off the bench, and we'll pass along any updates about his status vs. the 76ers on Saturday.
