Fri May 31 2013 | 08:22 | Daniel Orton hoping for more playing time |
Daniel Orton said he wouldn't be opposed to a change of scenery if it meant more playing time. |
It's a bold comment from Orton who has proven absolutely nothing in the NBA since being drafted in the first round back in 2010. He has two more non-guaranteed years remaining with the Thunder and should be grateful he's with a winning organization that took a chance on him. |

Wed Oct 31 2012 | 10:05 | Thunder likely to bring back Daniel Orton |
The Thunder is likely to bring back the recently waived Daniel Orton. |
The team has an open roster spot following the James Harden trade, and with Hasheem Thabeet as Kendrick Perkins' primary backup, bringing back Orton as an insurance policy makes plenty of sense. |

Sat Oct 27 2012 | 14:11 | Thunder waive Orton, Thompson and Rautins |
The Thunder waived Daniel Orton, Andy Rautins and Hollis Thompson on Saturday. |
Orton was widely viewed as one of the most talented big men in the 2010 draft, but his career has yet to get off the ground. Thompson and Rautins are also unlikely to crack a rotation this year. |

Sat Aug 4 2012 | 17:23 | Thunder sign FA center Daniel Orton |
Thunder sign C Daniel Orton. |
Orton signed a non-guaranteed contract for training camp and he has an uphill battle to make OKC's regular season roster. Mon Apr 23 2012 | 09:49 | Daniel Orton takes criticism from SVG |
Coach Stan Van Gundy has been highly critical of Daniel Orton over the last few days. |
Orton has struggled badly in a backup role behind Glen Davis over the last three games. After Saturday's loss, Van Gundy said that Orton "gave us nothing" and added that the center needs "to be a lot more disciplined." Even if Dwight Howard gets traded this summer, it's hard to see Van Gundy giving the raw Orton a major role. The 21-year-old needs a ton more seasoning. |

Tue Apr 17 2012 | 00:41 | Orton posts low-end line in start for Davis |
Daniel Orton started for injured Glen Davis (knee) in Monday's win over the Sixers, scoring six points on 3-of-3 shooting with six rebounds and one block in 24 minutes. |
Davis says that he's going to return for Wednesday's game against the Celtics, so any conversation about Orton's value is short-lived, anyway. The 6'10/225 product will be called upon if Davis suffers a setback, but owners that made the add early this week can pitch him back to the wire. |

Mon Apr 16 2012 | 09:20 | Daniel Orton expected to start Monday |
Daniel Orton is expected to start at center in Monday's game against the Sixers. |
The Magic are down to their third-string center after losing Dwight Howard (back) and Glen Davis (knee). Orton is just 20 years old, saw very little playing time at Kentucky and is extremely raw -- but he did post 11 points, five steals, four rebounds and three blocks in 28 minutes Sunday. He's 6'10/255 with good athleticism and will be matched up with Sixers rookie Nikola Vucevic Monday. |

The Magic will not pick up the team option on Daniel Orton's contract. |

Fri Dec 16 2011 | 07:04 | Daniel Orton needs more time to develop |
Daniel Orton still needs more time to develop. |
Orton missed his entire rookie season due to knee surgery last year, and Stan Van Gundy isn't ready to rely on him to contribute in the rotation. "Daniel's very inexperienced, and he's not ready to be thrown into a game right now." It's safe to say that he's not going to come into fantasy value at any point in the near future. |

Sat Dec 10 2011 | 01:55 | Orton (knee) says he feels good entering year |
Magic backup C Daniel Orton (knee) said Friday that he currently feels the best he has "since college." |
He can jump off his knee with no pain, and depending on how things shake out with the Dwight Howard situation he could be lined up for some minutes. We tend to doubt, however, that he will be thrown in the fire for anything but a backup role as just a second-year player with no game experience. Orton missed all of last year after knee surgery. |

Tue Dec 6 2011 | 11:04 | Daniel Orton to play bigger role for Magic? |
Daniel Orton should see an increased role for the Magic if Dwight Howard is traded. |
The Magic are relying on Orton as the backup to Howard currently, but if traded, Orton could see a much bigger role than just playing when Howard sits. He had knee surgery in September and didn't play a single game for Orlando last year. He could have an especially meaningful role if an oft-injured Andrew Bynum winds up with the Magic. |

Wed Feb 16 2011 | 12:47 | Orton nowhere near playing |
Magic C Daniel Orton (knee surgery) is likely out for the season. |
Orton underwent a scope on his knee in December, but there's something else going on here. He isn't even expected to be ready to practice with the team at any point this season. Orton is a long-term project at best. |

Tue Dec 21 2010 | 18:50 | Magic center Orton expected out until Feb. |
Magic center Daniel Orton expects to have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee within the next week to repair cartilage damage. |
The procedure should sideline him until the All-Star break in mid-February, eliminating one potential backup for Dwight Howard. Malik Allen can play some backup C but he's recovering from a sprained ankle. One possibility is that Orlando will sign recently waived Earl Barron. |

Daniel Orton has been recalled from the D-League after re-injuring his left knee in a game on Saturday. |
He's back in Orlando and will have an MRI on the knee Tuesday. He injured the same knee in high school and missed his senior season after surgery. "It is what it is," said Magic GM Otis Smith. "He was actually starting to play well." He will have no fantasy value this season. |
