OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Zack Greinke threw seven smooth innings for his 200th win, pitching the first-place Houston Astros past the Oakland Athletics 4-1 on Sunday to avoid a four-game sweep.Alex Bregman had a three-run homer among his four hits to back Greinke, who won his third straight start since joining the Astros from the Arizona Diamondbacks at the July 31 trade deadline.Greinke (13-4) went nine up, nine down on 25 pitches to start the game before giving up Marcus Semien's 21st homer. The right-hander allowed four hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Gonzalez, who signed a minor-league contract in spring training, batted .210 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 30 games.Manager Terry Francona praised Gonzalez's professionalism in the clubhouse, but stressed the decision came down to results."We weren't seeing the offense that we needed and he said that, too," Francona said. CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez left Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves in the third inning with an injury.Baez took a knee to the head during a headfirst slide on a stolen base attempt in the second inning. Baez, who was called out, remained on the ground after making contact with Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson and was checked out by Cubs trainer P.J. Mainville.Baez took the field in the third inning before motioning to the Cubs dugout to alert manager Joe Maddon that he needed to leave the game. Mike Freeman replaced Baez at shortstop.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Franklin Gutierrez on the 10-day disabled list with an episode of ankylosis spondylitis, the team announced Sunday.Gutierrez's gastrointestinal/autoimmune and arthritic condition has affected his hips and lower body that cost him the 2014 season.Gutierrez, 34, is batting .232 with one home run and eight RBIs in 35 games in his first season with the Dodgers this season.The Dodgers also recalled up infielder/outfielder Mike Freeman from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take the roster spot.Freeman, 29, will make his first stint with the Dodgers after being claimed by the team on May 26 from the Seattle Mariners. In 20 games with Oklahoma City, he is hitting .295 with four RBIs and three stolen bases. He also appeared in 16 games with the Mariners this season, going 2-for-30 (.067) and hitting his first career major league home run on April 12 against the Houston Astros. He appeared in three games (two starts) at first base, three games (two starts) at second base and two starts at third base with Seattle.In 37 major league games in two seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Mariners, Freeman is batting .135 with one home run and two RBIs. TORONTO -- Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano was a late scratch from the lineup for Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays because of a right quadriceps strain.Mike Freeman started at second base for the Mariners.Cano left Tuesday's game in Philadelphia with the strain after going 2-for-3 with a homer.He is hitting .296 with eight homers.

Seattle Mariners shortstop Jean Segura was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring, the team announced Tuesday.Segura, who was acquired in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks in November, was injured in Monday's game against Houston. In eight games this season, he is hitting .313 with one home run, three RBIs and three stolen bases. Last season with Arizona, Segura hit .319 with 20 homers and 33 stolen bases.The Mariners also selected infielder Mike Freeman from Triple-A Tacoma, and designated left-handed pitcher Paul Fry for assignment.Seattle has seven days to trade, release or outright Fry to the minors.Freeman, 29, hit .333 in three games with Tacoma this season.
