Prior to the knee injury the 32-year-old lefty had a 4.80 ERA and just 37 strikeouts in 60 innings, so it's not even a given that Feldman will be locked into a rotation spot the rest of the way if he can't turn his season around.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch announced Wednesday that Feldman will start the second game of the season against the Indians on April 8, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports.

"Feldman's lined up to pitch right behind Keuchel, which is good," Hinch said. "I caution lining it too perfectly too early just because a lot of things can happen, but Keuchel one, Feldman two is a good lineup." The veteran right-hander has a 7.20 ERA through five spring innings thus far.

Feldman will throw a minor league game Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The rest of the team is off Wednesday, but it looks as though Feldman will get some extra work in with the minor league club. He's a candidate to start Opening Day after posting a 3.74 ERA in 29 starts last season.
