Rodriguez singled twice and scored a second run in addition to his homer. The second basemen is batting .318 with five homers since the start of June. The power may well be for real, but Rodriguez still hasn't shown much plate discipline in the majors and the batting average will likely fall significantly in time. | ||||||

Sean Rodriguez smacked a three-run double in the ninth inning against the Jays to complete a four-run ninth-inning rally in Tuesday's 7-6 victory. | ||||||
The damage all came against Blue Jays closer Kevin Gregg, who walked five in the meltdown. Rodriguez, in fact, had the only hit in the four-run inning. He came up with the bases loaded, two outs and the Rays at a 5-4 disadvantage. Fortunately for the youngster, a frazzled Gregg was pitching and he took complete advantage. Rodriguez is still only batting .230, but he has big upside and is worth keeping tabs on. | ||||||

Rodriguez got the nod over Reid Brignac because he matches up well with Baltimore's Opening Day starter, Kevin Millwood. Rodriguez and Brignac owners can expect similar scenarios for at least the first month of the season. We're thinking Rodriguez will be full-time by May. | ||||||
