Fri Nov 30 201213:36Austin Daye (sick) might not play on Friday
Austin Daye (illness) may not play on Friday.
Daye is an afterthought in Detroit and has barely played this season. The No. 15 overall pick from the 2009 draft has underwhelmed in his NBA career, to say the very least.

Tue Oct 2 201209:29Austin Daye focusing on playing efficiently
Austin Daye is focusing on playing "as efficient as possible."
Daye faces an uncertain future with the Pistons with the depth the team has at small forward, and it would be a surprise to see him receive an extension prior to the October 21 deadline. Although he's up to 218 lbs, will play some time at PF and his arms are "noticeably bigger," he's not on the fantasy radar barring a miracle in training camp.

Tue Sep 25 201212:33Daye's confidence level 'night and day'
Austin Daye's confidence level is "night and day" compared to last season.
Daye's improved confidence is great, and it's something he'll need moving forward, but it's not going to increase his fantasy value. Daye will have to prove that he's ready to earn a consistent role in the rotation. The Gonzaga product managed just 4.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15 minutes per game last season.

Mon Apr 23 201222:12Daye scores 11 points off the bench
Austin Daye scored 11 points off the bench on Monday, hitting 4-of-7 shots (including a three) with four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 18 minutes.
The Pistons' next game will be on a busy night on Thursday, but if you're in a deeper format and you're looking for a sleeper then Daye could be worth a look. Jonas Jerebko was given a DNP-CD tonight so the coaching staff could get a look at Daye, and they might be willing to do it again on Thursday.

Sat Mar 31 201223:32Austin Daye starts at SG w/ Stuckey, BG out
Austin Daye made another start at SG for the Pistons on Saturday, with both Ben Gordon and Rodney Stuckey out with injuries, but he finished with just five points and two rebounds in 20 minutes.
Daye couldn't overcome early foul trouble, disappointing owners who plugged him in as a spot-starter after Friday's game (11 points, three steals, two blocks). Stuckey and Gordon are both day-to-day, so don't hang onto Daye at the expense of a more stable option.

Sat Mar 31 201202:03Daye scores 11 points in start for Stuckey
Austin Daye stared at shooting guard for injured Rodney Stuckey (hamstring) and scored 11 points on 5-of-14 shooting with two rebounds, one assist, three steals, and two blocks in 33 minutes.
This line works in fantasy leagues, though we wonder how much it works when he and Brandon Knight combine for two assists in the backcourt. Regardless, as long as Stuckey and Ben Gordon (groin) are out, Daye is worth a short-term look. Lawrence Frank made fun of the opposing Bulls' injury classifications, pointing out that Derrick Rose has been day-to-day forever, which was an awkward response to a question about his injured guards. Knight scored 16 points with one rebound, one assist, one steal, two blocks, and two 3-pointers in the loss.

Fri Mar 30 201212:32Austin Daye to start with Gordon, Stuckey out
Austin Daye will start on Friday with Rodney Stuckey (hamstring) and Ben Gordon (groin) ruled out.
Daye played 27 minutes and posted eight points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks and a trey on Wednesday, and his roto-friendly game could certainly help owners in a bind looking for someone to use as a spot-start. He started the second half on Wednesday so it's not a huge surprise that he'll draw the start on Friday.

Wed Mar 28 201222:41Austin Daye could become relevant for DET
Austin Daye came off the bench for eight points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks and a 3-pointer in 29 minutes Wednesday.
He started the second half after Rodney Stuckey left with a hamstring injury, and could be in line for more minutes going forward. Will Bynum also came alive with eight points, three rebounds and a steal on 3-of-9 shooting. Both players are worth a look if Stuckey is going to miss much time, but it's tough to tell which player might benefit most. Since Daye was the second-half starter, we're going to give the nod to him.

Sun Mar 18 201211:32Austin Daye still outside of Pistons rotation
Austin Daye and Will Bynum both admitted that they might have welcomed a trade from the Pistons, where they have fallen completely out of the rotation.
Joe Dumars said that no appropriate trades were available, and he expressed faith in Daye while suggesting that his slight frame is the reason for his inactivity. "You see some skill sets, he needs to get stronger," said Dumars. "You see his body and see if he can get his legs under him and stronger. The kid can play." He can play, just not for Detroit this season.

Sun Feb 19 201221:04Austin Daye picks up another DNP-CD
Austin Daye picked up his third consecutive DNP-CD on Sunday.
Daye had a nice stretch in late January but has since fallen completely out of the picture. It doesn't help his case that his DNPs coincide with the Pistons' unlikely three-game win streak.

Tue Jan 31 201223:14Daye struggles to score, but plays 25 minutes
Austin Daye played 25 minutes off the bench Tuesday and had another full stat line despite scoring just seven points on 2-of-7 shooting.
He added three rebounds, two assists, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer, and deserves a close eye in fantasy leagues now that he's cracked the rotation. But he's still not a must-own player, especially with Ben Gordon due back from a shoulder injury at some point.

Tue Jan 31 201202:01Daye scores 10 points off the bench on Monday
Austin Daye scored 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting (no threes) with five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks in 37 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Daye soaked up some of the minutes lost by Brandon Knight, who was benched during portions of tonight's game because of poor play. Daye has been making noise ever since Tayshaun Prince went out, and with Prince back he has held some of that value. We highly doubt that Daye will find value out of Knight's bucket all year long, and with the general log-jam of talent we're only looking at Daye as a short-term play while Ben Gordon (shoulder) is out and Knight is struggling.

Sat Jan 28 201221:55Austin Daye scores 12 off Pistons bench
Austin Daye had 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, a block and a 3-pointer in Saturday's blowout loss to the Sixers.
Daye has hit double figures in three straight games, playing at least 27 minutes in each of them. And since Tayshaun Prince was back and Daye still got decent run, he looks to be in the rotation for now. Deep leaguers should think about grabbing him, while Daye should be monitored closely in all leagues while he's hot.

Fri Jan 27 201223:49Daye scores 12 points after career night
Austin Daye scored 12 points on Friday after scoring a career-high 28 points on Wednesday, hitting 4-of-11 shots from the field (including two threes) with three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes off the bench.
Daye hit one nice shot late but he's likely to go back to irrelevance once Tayshaun Prince (personal) returns. Take a look at him as a spot-add with the hopes that Prince's absence continues.

Wed Jan 25 201223:52Austin Daye blows up for career-high 28
Austin Daye got hot in the second quarter of Wednesday's game against the Heat when he scored 18 of his career-high 28 points.
He finished with four 3-pointers, six boards and a steal on 10-of-18 shooting and played a season-high 30 minutes with Ben Gordon (shoulder) and Tayshaun Prince (personal) out. Daye has been buried on the bench all season but forced the hand of Lawrence Frank tonight. And while this performance had to have opened Frank's eyes, the fact remains that Prince and Gordon are going to come back and probably keep their jobs. We're guessing this will end up being the highlight of Daye's season, and while he's certainly worth consideration in most leagues, he's simply not a must-own player unless his playing time improves dramatically going forward. He came into the game averaging just 12 minutes and three points per game. Keep an eye on him.

Fri Jan 20 201207:35Austin Daye still struggling with ankle issue
Austin Daye's ankle is still black and blue and has played a role in his decreased playing time.
Daye initially injured his ankle in early January and it's still bothering him. He wants to play through the injury to prove he's better than his recent play, but he's really struggling on both ends of the court. He's seen a combined 31 seconds over his last two games and is shooting a pathetic 20.4 percent this season, including 0-of-13 from beyond the arc. There is no reason to have him on your fantasy radar.

Tue Jan 17 201207:27Austin Daye struggling to crack the rotation
Austin Daye is struggling to crack the rotation.
"Every day he has an opportunity to work," Lawrence Frank said. "Hey this is survival of the fittest." Daye hasn't made a single 3-pointer this season (0-of-13) and is shooting a meager 20.4 percent from the field. He's not going to help your fantasy team with those types of numbers.

Sun Jan 15 201220:43Austin Daye can't get traction off bench
Austin Daye had just three points and one rebound in 12 minutes on Sunday, despite the absence of both Damien Wilkins and Will Bynum.
Daye has struggled mightily in his short stints this season, and seems to have lost the faith of coach Lawrence Frank (and possibly lost faith in himself, as well). We can only hope that he'll be turned loose once the Pistons are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Tue Jan 10 201218:30Austin Daye (ankle) will play on Tuesday
Austin Daye (ankle) will play on Tuesday against the Mavericks.
Daye had two points in 12 minutes on Monday and has really struggled to find his rhythm all season long. He's nothing more than waiver wire fodder.
