Fri Jun 24 201117:09Jackson starting at first base Friday
Conor Jackson will start at first base Friday against the Phillies.
It will be his fourth start in the past five games at first base. We'd like to see Chris Carter get a shot, but he probably didn't help his cause by dropping a foul pop against the Mets on Thursday. It's more likely Carter serves as the designated hitter when the A's return home next week.

Mon May 23 201119:25Jackson starting at third base Monday
Conor Jackson will make his first major league start at third base Monday against the Angels.
Jackson has already made two appearances at third base this season, but this is his first start at the position. It's worth noting that he played third at the University of California, though it's unlikely he's a long-term option for the A's at the hot corner. They're mostly trying to find a way to infuse some life into their weak offense.

Sat Apr 30 201100:51Athletics' Jackson doubles twice
Conor Jackson doubled twice and was hit by a pitch Friday against the Rangers.
Jackson is Oakland's hottest hitter, so he figures to get regular playing time for the near future. With Coco Crisp out, he started in right field tonight. If Coco can return this weekend, then Jackson could shift to first and start over the slumping Daric Barton.

Wed Apr 27 201100:52Athletics' Jackson hits first homer
Conor Jackson's first homer of the season was a two-run shot off the Angels' Tyler Chatwood on Tuesday.
The A's are looking for someone, anyone, to get hot, so expect Jackson to be back out there Wednesday. He started at first base over Daric Barton tonight, but he'll probably be in the outfield tomorrow with Coco Crisp hurting.

Fri Apr 15 201103:02Jackson gets two of team's three hits
Conor Jackson had two singles in four at-bats in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Tigers.
Jackson's average is up to .292. He is not an everyday player, but it's interesting that Athletics manager Bob Geren has batted him third in the lineup three of the past four games.

Tue Feb 22 201121:20A's Jackson adds 20 pounds over winter
Conor Jackson added 20 pounds over the winter and said he's now back at his normal playing weight.
Jackson says he never put all of his weight back on after missing most of the 2009 season with Valley Fever. He's back to full strength now, though, thanks to a strenuous rehab program following hip surgery. "I've tried everything," said Jackson. "I feel like my core and my hips were weak, and I think that may have contributed to injury. That's one area I've really changed and turned my focus [toward] this year." The former 2003 first-round pick has been limited to just 351 plate appearances over the past two seasons, but he still has a chance to be pretty useful as a backup outfielder and first baseman for the A's.

Tue Jan 18 201113:26A's, Conor Jackson reach pre-arb. contract
Athletics and OF Conor Jackson avoided arbitration Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $3.32 million contract.
This is Jackson's final year of arbitration eligibility and he will hit the free agent market next season unless the A's decide to retain him. The 28-year-old hit just .236 with two homers and 16 RBI in 208 at-bats last season and is expected to serve primarily as a backup corner outfielder in 2011.

Tue Nov 16 201019:58Report: A's not looking to move Conor Jackson
According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, the Athletics aren't looking to move Conor Jackson.
Jackson underwent hernia surgery in September and batted just .236/.336/.327 with two home runs and 16 RBI over 208 at-bats between the Athletics and Diamondbacks this season. The A's outfield was already crowded in the first place, so it's hard to see where he could find at-bats now that the team has acquired David DeJesus. He remains a non-tender candidate.

Tue Oct 19 201010:17Jackson hoping to return to A's in 2011
Arbitration-eligible outfielder Conor Jackson said Monday that he would like to return to the A's for the 2011 season.
Jackson is almost completely healed from sports hernia surgery and should be perfectly fine by the start of spring training. But he batted just .236/.336/.327 with two homers and 16 RBI in 208 at-bats this past year and is owed a raise from the $3.1 million that earned via arbitration. It seems likely that the A's will non-tender the outfielder and then look to re-sign him.

Mon Sep 13 201010:57A's transfer Conor Jackson to 60-day DL
Athletics transferred OF Conor Jackson to the 60-day disabled list.
He was moved to make room for Aki Iwamura on the 40-man roster. Jackson recently underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia and will miss the rest of the season.
Thu Sep 2 201011:43A's Jackson undergoes sports hernia surgery
Athletics manager Bob Geren said that Conor Jackson is expected to resume activity in a few weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia Wednesday.
The surgery went well, according to Geren. Jackson had expressed optimism about his chances of playing again this season, but we can count him out for the rest of 2010. The 28-year-old batted just .236/.336/.327 with two home runs and 16 RBI over 208 at-bats between the A's and D-Backs this season and is now a prime candidate to be non-tendered come December.

Wed Aug 25 201010:43Jackson hopes to play again this season
Conor Jackson (hernia surgery) hopes to make it back with the A's this season.
Jackson is set to undergo sports hernia surgery Wednesday but said via text to the San Francisco Chronicle, "I'm definitely going to try to push and get back." We appreciate the optimism, but there's no way he's playing again this season. Jackson is a candidate to be non-tendered over the winter.

Mon Aug 23 201018:49A's Jackson to undergo season ending surgery
Athletics assistant general manager David Forst said that Conor Jackson is scheduled to undergo surgery for a sports hernia on September 1.
We were already pretty sure this was going to happen, but now we have official confirmation. Dr. William Meyers will perform the surgery in Philadelphia next week. Jackson is expected to be ready for spring training next season, however he is likely to be non-tendered this winter.

Conor Jackson says it's "99 percent sure" he has a sports hernia that will require season-ending surgery.
Jackson this that the injury, which he has dealt with since spring training, is the underlying cause of the problems he's had this season. He's managed just 208 at-bats this year for the D-backs and A's and is hitting .236. Jackson would make a full recovery by spring training if he does in fact have the procedure.

Fri Aug 20 201018:13A's place Conor Jackson (abdominal) on DL
Athletics placed OF Conor Jackson on the 15-day disabled list with a lower abdominal strain.
This guy simply can't stay on the field. Jackson just returned from the disabled list on Monday after missing a little over six weeks with a hamstring injury. Because of three stints on the disabled list, Jackson has only played in 60 games this season, batting a disappointing .236/.336/.327 with two home runs and 16 RBI.
Tue Aug 17 201001:16Athletics' Jackson homers in return
In his return from the DL, Conor Jackson homered for the Athletics' lone hit Monday against the Jays and Shaun Marcum.
Well, that's something. Jackson figures to play regularly in left field with Chris Carter back in Triple-A. The homer was his first in 15 games with the A's.
Mon Aug 16 201018:16A's activated Conor Jackson from DL
Athletics activated OF Conor Jackson from the 15-day disabled list.
Finally. Jackson hasn't played since June 30 due to a strained right hamstring. He returns to a .245/.335/.327 batting line over 196 at-bats this season. He should play most of the time in left field, so go ahead and pick him up if he's available in AL-only formats.
Sun Aug 15 201014:11Jackson could return this week
Conor Jackson (hamstring) could be activated from the disabled list this week, according to A's manager Bob Geren.
Jackson is slated to play his third rehab game for Triple-A Sacramento Sunday. He has already played two games with Single-A Stockton and three with the A's Arizona Rookie League team. Geren wouldn't commit to playing Jackson every day in left field, but he did refer to Jackson as "an everyday player, a good player." Geren added, "He'll play a lot. Whether it's every day or not, we don't know. He's been off for a while, and we want to make sure he's healthy."

Sat Aug 14 201018:05Oakland OF Jackson to return when ready
Oakland coach Bob Geren says that Conor Jackson will not return from his rehab stint this weekend and will continue to play with Triple-A Sacramento until he "feels he's ready" to rejoin the major league team.
Is Conor Jackson the new Nick Johnson? The outfielder misses every time table that is set for him, it seems. Now he's going to get comfortable in Triple-A for a while, and there's just no way to predict when he will return. The uncertainty makes him un-ownable in fantasy baseball, if the overall lack of power and current struggles didn't already. The good news is that Chris Carter should stick around through his struggles because the A's just need bodies in the outfield.

Thu Aug 12 201008:22A's Jackson (hammy) has 2 hits in rehab game
Conor Jackson (hamstring) was 2-for-4 with an RBI double in his first rehab game with Single-A Stockton on Wednesday.
Jackson played seven innings in left field. His rehab from a hamstring injury has taken much longer than originally expected, but he could return from the disabled list as soon as this weekend.
