Thu Aug 26 201001:16Padres' Tejada homers in victory
Miguel Tejada went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a walk and three runs scored in the Padres' 9-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Most were skeptical, but putting Tejada at shortstop has worked out just fine for the Padres so far. He's hit .298 with two homers, 21 RBI and 16 runs scored in 23 games for his new team. Most incredible of all is that he has 10 walks in 94 at-bats. Tejada walked 15 times in 401 at-bats for Baltimore before the deal. Last year, he had 19 walks in 635 at-bats for the Astros.
Mon Aug 16 201023:46Tejada picks up four hits as Padres cruise
Miguel Tejada went 4-for-5 at the plate in Monday's win over the Cubs.
He had three singles and a double while scoring and driving in a pair of runs. Tejada has nine hits over his last three games and is now batting .313 in 16 games with the Padres. It appears he's been re-energized a bit by a pennant race, but we're still not expect a vintage Tejada showing down the stretch.
Wed Aug 4 201000:49Tejada goes yard in loss to Dodgers
Miguel Tejada hit his first home run as a member of the Padres in a loss to the Dodgers on Tuesday night.
Tejada, who started at third base Tuesday, delivered the Padres' only offense of the game with a solo home run off Ted Lilly in the top of the first inning. He is 4-for-19 (.211) over his first five games with the Padres. He is playing everyday right now, but that may change once David Eckstein returns from the disabled list. That won't help his fantasy value, which was already on the decline to begin with.
Thu Jul 29 201018:45Padres boost infield depth, acquire 3B Tejada
Padres acquired 3B Miguel Tejada from the Orioles for RHP Wynn Pelzer.
The 36-year-old veteran will split time with Chase Headley at third with the Padres while also potentially logging some time at shortstop, a position at which he is no longer viable. Tejada produced just a .269/.308/.362 slash line with seven homers and 39 RBI this season in 401 at-bats for Baltimore. He is no longer a mixed league option, but Tejada possesses NL-only value.
Thu Jul 29 201017:42Padres indeed acquiring Tejada from O's
Corey Brock of MLB.com has confirmed that the Padres are indeed acquiring infielder Miguel Tejada from the Orioles.
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun had the news first. We're still waiting to hear what the O's will receive in return for the veteran Tejada. Our guess is that it won't be much, considering the poor numbers that he has posted this season and the $2 million that he is still owed this season.

Thu Jul 29 201000:14Cardinals-Tejada rumor has 'no traction'
According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a rumor linking the Cardinals and O's infielder Miguel Tejada has "no traction."
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com wrote of the Cardinals' interest on Twitter Wednesday afternoon, but Goold talked to a source a few hours later and got a different story. Tejada has no place on a contending team like the Cards. Sure, they're lacking in quality middle infielders, but Tejada is no longer a viable option at shortstop and he has a .673 OPS this season in Baltimore. It's actually refreshing to hear that the Cardinals are not pursuing him.

Mon Jul 19 201018:09Padres like Tejada, not Guthrie
Corey Brock of MLB.com hears that while Jeremy Guthrie is not a target for the Padres, they do have interest in Miguel Tejada.
Another starting pitcher would be a nice luxury for the Padres, but they could use an upgrade for an offense that currently ranks 14th in the National League in OPS. It's unclear if the Padres would be willing to sacrifice some defense and move Tejada back to shortstop or possibly slide Chase Headley back to the outfield. It could ultimately be a mix of both.

Sun Jul 11 201018:46Tejada homers, reaches four times in win
Miguel Tejada belted a solo homer and walked three times against the Rangers on Sunday.
The homer, Tejada's seventh of the season, provided an insurance run in the ninth inning as Alfredo Simon closed out a 4-1 win. The homer was Tejada's first of the month and gave him 35 RBI to go along with 34 runs at the All-Star break. He remains a solid yet unexciting option in AL-only leagues.
Sun Jun 27 201016:31Tejada hits go-ahead RBI single in win
Miguel Tejada hit a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Orioles topped the Nationals 4-3 on Sunday.
Nationals reliever Tyler Clippard appeared to get out of a jam when Julio Lugo was picked off second base for the second out of the eighth. However, Corey Patterson then doubled and Tejada followed with a single to give the Orioles the lead. Tejada is hitting a very solid .287 thus far, but since he's on pace for 11 homers and less than 70 runs and RBI he's only playable in deep in AL-only formats.
Thu Jun 24 201022:39Tejada drives in four as O's top Marlins
Miguel Tejada went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBI on Thursday as the Orioles topped the Marlins 11-5.
Tejada hit an RBI single in the third inning as part of a five-run frame and added a three-run homer in the seventh. But he's largely been a disappointment in Baltimore this season and doesn't have value outside of NL-only leagues. The third baseman is batting .282/.316/.379 this season.
Thu Jun 3 201016:20Orioles' Tejada goes hitless in loss
Batting second once again, Miguel Tejada went 0-for-4 in the loss to the Yankees on Thursday.
With Brian Roberts out and Adam Jones struggling, the Orioles have struggled to get much of anything from the top of the order this year. Tejada really should be batting fifth or sixth at this stage of his career. He's hitting .259/.299/.368 in 201 at-bats this season.
Fri Apr 30 201023:04Tejada hits home run, wins game for O's
Miguel Tejada tied Friday's game against the Red Sox with a solo home run in the eighth inning and won it in the 11th with walkoff single.
Tejada ended up with three hits, two runs and three RBI. He has six multi-hit games in his last eight contests, but his power is obviously declining at age 35. Don't expect Tejada to get near 20 home runs even though he has four already.
Fri Apr 23 201018:19Orioles' Tejada returns to lineup
Miguel Tejada is back at third base for Friday's game against the Red Sox.
Tejada hadn't played since leaving Saturday's game with a hip adductor strain.
Tue Apr 20 201020:18Tejada (hip) out of Tuesday's lineup
Miguel Tejada (hip) is out of the starting lineup again on Tuesday.
There is some good news to report, however, as he managed to take some batting practice in the cage. He's confident he'll play on Wednesday. Ty Wigginton will start at third base again on Tuesday.

Mon Apr 19 201022:53Tejada says he'll return to lineup on Tue
Miguel Tejada (hip) said he believes he'll be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday.
"I already told the manager that I'm ready to pinch-hit, and I'll see how I feel tomorrow," said Tejada, who suffered a strained hip adductor muscle during Saturday's game. "Today, I'm feeling almost normal, and the trainer is going to take a little time to take a look at me and see how it goes. [I'll play] probably tomorrow or the next day." Ty Wigginton started at third base on Monday.

Sat Apr 17 201021:00Tejada (groin) day-to-day, might need rest
Miguel Tejada (groin) is day-to-day.
Tejada left Saturday's game with a strained groin, sustained while diving into first base while reaching on a bunt single. He was told after the game that he would likely need a few days rest. Adjust your lineup accordingly. Ty Wigginton is the likely replacement if Miggy misses time.
Sat Apr 17 201017:49Tejada leaves game with a pulled quad
Miguel Tejada left Saturday's game with a pulled quad.
Miggy reached on a bunt single, sustaining the injury while diving into first base. He walked from the field and was replaced by pinch runner Caesar Izturis. For now, consider Tejada day-to-day, but we'll update you on his status when more information becomes available.

Fri Apr 9 201018:08Tejada knocks in four in return to Baltimore
Miguel Tejada went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and four RBI in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Tejada slumbered through the opening series in St. Pete, going 1-for-12 against the Rays, but he came up big in his return to Camden Yards today. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the Orioles. The three guys ahead and the three guys behind him in the Baltimore order combined to go 1-for-19 today.
