Sun Dec 22 201320:04Joique Bell handles 30 touches; Bush benched
Joique Bell rushed 20 times for 91 yards and a touchdown and caught a game-high 10 passes for 63 yards in the Lions' Week 16 loss to the Giants.
Playing ahead of Reggie Bush throughout the second half, Bell received three consecutive goal-line carries midway through the third quarter, executing on the third. The touchdown was Bell's eighth of the season. The Lions boosted Bell's usage this week, most notably after a first-half fumble by Bush. With Calvin Johnson hobbled and Bush ineffective, Bell was the best skill-position player on the field for Detroit. The Lions have been formally eliminated from playoff contention, but Bell independently has plenty to play for in Week 17 against Minnesota. He's an impending restricted free agent.

Tue Dec 17 201300:11Joique Bell totals 47 yards in MNF defeat
Joique Bell rushed for 24 yards on nine carries in Week 15 against the Ravens, adding one catch for 23 yards.
Bell's big play -- the 23-yard catch -- came on a third-and-nine screen on the Lions' opening possession to help set up Reggie Bush's eventual 14-yard touchdown run. Bell handled a few series to himself late in the first half, but the Lions struggled to move the ball for much of the night. As long as Bush is healthy, Bell will be nothing more than an 8-12 touch player.

Thu Nov 28 201316:32Joique Bell totals 128 yards in win over Pack
Joique Bell rushed 19 times for 94 yards and a touchdown in Detroit's Week 13 thrashing of the Packers, adding three catches for 34 yards.
Bell formed a powerful 1-2 with Reggie Bush on an afternoon where the Lions hammered out 241 yards on the ground. The 19 attempts were Bell's most since Week 3, where Bush sat with a knee injury. The Lions have worked to get Bell more involved as a pure-rushing changeup to Bush in three of their past four games, but he's still not getting the ball enough to be worth every-week FLEX consideration. Bell is an elite handcuff for the fantasy playoffs, but not someone you can trust as more than an RB4.

Mon Nov 18 201313:26Joique Bell avoids long-term injury
Lions coach Jim Schwartz told reporters Monday that Joique Bell (foot) has avoided a long-term injury.
Schwartz put Bell in the "day to day/week to week" category, which provides little clarity on his Week 12 status. Look for Reggie Bush to handle a full workload this week against the Bucs after Bell felt a "kind of pop" in the foot during Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh. Bell remains a hold in all fantasy leagues.

Sun Nov 17 201317:00Joique Bell totals 97 yards, but hurts ankle
Joique Bell rushed nine times for 49 yards and a touchdown in Detroit's Week 11 loss to the Steelers, adding three catches for 48 yards before departing with a fourth-quarter ankle injury.
Speaking afterward, coach Jim Schwartz said Bell was cleared to return, but the Lions opted to hold him out. Bell was thrust into a bigger role after Reggie Bush lost a fumble. Schwartz also told the FOX broadcasting crew the Lions preferred Bell in the second half because of the soupy conditions at Heinz Field. Bell was gaining yards in chunks before going down, but will remain an RB4 for Week 12 against the Bucs if he's active. Bush's starting job is in zero danger.

Joique Bell is not on the Week 8 injury report.
His rib injury is an issue of the past. Bell racked up eight touches in Week 7 against the Bengals, and maintains elite stash/handcuff value behind Reggie Bush, who is a locked-in RB1 but has never been one of the league's most durable players. Pick Bell up immediately if he was dropped in your league.

The Lions host the Cowboys next Sunday.

Bell will be re-examined Monday, but initial tests show no fracture. He was reportedly laughing and joking around on the flight home. "It just popped out," said Bell. "I'll just take it day by day, do the proper rehab for it and try to get back as soon as possible." With Theo Riddick (concussion) inactive, Mikel Leshoure closed out Sunday's win as Reggie Bush's backup. Consider Bell day to day and a fantasy hold.
