Sun Oct 13 201315:46Joique Bell leaves game with rib injury
Joique Bell was forced from Sunday's Week 6 game against the Browns with a rib injury.
Bell has been taken to the locker room for further evaluation and will likely need to undergo an MRI before the full severity of the injury is known. He'll finish with seven carries for 25 yards in a short-yardage role behind Reggie Bush. He was only targeted twice in the passing game.

Sun Sep 22 201316:27Joique racks up 132 yards, TD in Week 3 win
Joique Bell rushed for 63 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in the Lions' 27-20, Week 3 win over the Redskins.
Bell added another 69 yards on four catches out of the backfield. Getting the spot start in place of Reggie Bush (knee, inactive), Bell was a lock to see 18-plus touches. He runs tough, and the Redskins have shown early this season that they can't tackle anyone. Bell broke several tackles, churning up extra yards after contact all day long. His touchdown came from 12 yards out in the first quarter. Bush is going to be back in the starting lineup next week against the Bears. Bell remains a guy to own in all formats as Bush's No. 2.

Sun Sep 22 201309:37Joique Bell to 'play plenty' against Redskins
The Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett expects Joique Bell to "play plenty" Sunday at Washington "regardless of (Reggie) Bush's status."
Birkett expects rookie Theo Riddick -- not 2012 starter Mikel Leshoure -- to be the Lions' No. 2 back if Bush is inactive. Bush (knee) is listed as questionable, and Profootballtalk reported late Friday the Lions were considering giving him the week off even though he's healthy enough to play. The Lions' inactives will be posted on Rotoworld roughly two hours from now. Bell will be a solid flex play if Bush plays, and a locked-in RB2 if Bush doesn't.

Fri Sep 20 201313:07Joique Bell, Reggie Bush share practice reps
Although Reggie Bush (knee) returned to Lions practice Friday, he shared first-team reps with Joique Bell.
Bush is tentatively expected to start against the Redskins, but could be on a bit of a "pitch count" with similarly effective Bell rotating in. Since Washington ranks dead last in the league in run defense, both Bush and Bell could emerge from Sunday's game as viable fantasy starts. Consider Bell more of a flex option with some upside in the event Bush reinjures his banged-up knee.

Sun Sep 15 201319:39Joique Bell has terrific all-purpose game
Joique Bell rushed eight times for 31 yards and caught five balls for 41 yards in the Lions' Week 2 loss to Arizona.
Reggie Bush was in and out of the game with a left knee injury, and is going for an MRI on Monday. Bell possesses outstanding versatility and runs with anger inside the tackles. He has a chance to be the Lions' every-down back in Week 3 versus a Redskins defense that's been a sieve through two games. If Bell isn't owned in your league, he's worth the No. 1 waiver claim.

Mon Sep 9 201309:48Joique Bell should be goal-line weapon
The Detroit Free Press says Joique Bell "should be a weapon on the goal line" this season.
With Mikel Leshoure a healthy scratch, Bell scored two touchdowns from inside the 2-yard line in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Vikings. "I'd like to throw out a big shout-out to the big homie Reggie Bush for donating to the Joique Bell touchdown foundation," he said afterward. Bell also piled up five catches on six targets one year after recording 52 catches. He's an underrated talent and needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues -- especially with Bush nursing groin and finger issues.

Sun Sep 8 201317:44Joique Bell gets two goal-line touchdowns
Joique Bell had six carries for 25 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Vikings.
Bell converted on two goal-line carries and was used in a short-yardage role behind Reggie Bush. He added five catches for 67 yards and continues to be a factor in the passing game. Bell doesn't get a ton of opportunities, but is an elite handcuff and has stand alone fantasy value. Bush played through multiple injuries Sunday, so he could be in for a bigger workload in Week 2.

Mon Aug 26 201312:26Jim Schwartz impressed with Joique Bell
Lions coach Jim Schwartz has been impressed with Joique Bell's preseason.
Running ahead of Mikel Leshoure and thoroughly out-playing him, Bell has averaged 6.50 yards on his 12 preseason carries, and caught seven passes for 91 yards. "He's strong and he's got very good balance," Schwartz said. "He's done a nice job, both in the pass game and the run game. ... It's just a continuation of what we saw last year." Bafflingly still behind Leshoure by ADP, Bell is Reggie Bush's clear backup. He should be drafted as such. Leshoure has no fantasy value.

Thu Aug 22 201323:05Joique Bell is Reggie Bush's fantasy handcuff
Lions RB Joique Bell rushed five times for 52 yards and caught two passes for 49 yards in Thursday night's third preseason game versus New England.
Bush runs hard downhill, has some lateral agility, and really excels in the passing game. He played ahead of Mikel Leshoure against the Patriots and is Reggie Bush's clear handcuff. Through three preseason contests, Bell has 12 carries for 78 yards (6.50 YPC) and seven receptions for 91 yards. Because Bush has often struggled to stay healthy and the Lions run a high-octane offense, Bell should be drafted in all leagues. At worst, he's a solid RB4.

Sun Jul 28 201311:08Joique Bell opened Lions camp as No. 2 back
Joique Bell opened Lions camp as the team's No. 2 running back, behind Reggie Bush but ahead of Mikel Leshoure.
This was also the case throughout the spring. Bell worked as the No. 2 back on the first two days of camp. Leshoure was given a shot with the second-team offense on day three. Bell is better in the passing game than Leshoure, and was also much more effective on a per-carry basis last season (5.0 YPC to 3.7). Bush owners would be savvy to secure Bell late in all fantasy drafts.

Fri Jun 14 201312:47Joique Bell continues to impress Lions
Joique Bell has "been a fixture" at the Lions' practice facility this offseason.
Bell was the focal point of Detroit's no-huddle offense last year, but his role remains up in the air after the Lions signed Reggie Bush. "Joique has had an outstanding offseason," coach Jim Schwartz said. "He made the most of his opportunity last year and he's not letting go. We will have plenty of touches in our offense for a lot of different running backs."

Thu May 2 201313:49Joique Bell wants to return kicks for Lions
Joique Bell would like to be the Lions' kick returner this season.
Bell sees the writing on the wall in a crowded backfield and knows he needs to become a special teams contributor to make the team. Free agent Stefan Logan, the Lions' return man for much of last season, isn't coming back, and Bell replaced him in Week 17. Bell brought back two kicks for 54 yards, but also lost a fumble. Rookies Theo Riddick and Corey Fuller could also be options.

Mon Apr 15 201311:21Lions re-up exclusive rights free agents
Lions re-signed exclusive rights free agents RB Joique Bell, FB/RB Shaun Chapas and S Ricardo Silva.
They also announced the re-signing of WR Kris Durham, who was tendered in early March. Bell is the only guarantee to make the roster after turning 134 touches into 899 yards from scrimmage last season, but his role will be dramatically reduced with the signing of Reggie Bush. Bell will only be a factor in fantasy leagues if Bush goes down with injury.

Tue Mar 26 201315:44Schwartz still backing Bell and Leshoure
Lions coach Jim Schwartz insists Joique Bell and Mikel Leshoure will remain a part of the offense in 2013 despite the signing of Reggie Bush.
"We have a lot of confidence in both of those guys (Bell and Leshoure)," Schwartz said. "Both of those guys are going to be good players that we continue to move forward with, and they all have unique skill sets." Bush's addition is a bigger concern for Bell than Leshoure, as Bush will be supplanting him on passing downs. Bell's 52 catches were fifth amongst running backs last season. He'll likely need a Bush injury to emerge as a fantasy factor in 2013.

Sun Dec 30 201217:00Joique Bell musters only 25 yards in finale
Joique Bell rushed twice for six yards in Detroit's Week 17 loss to the Bears, adding only two catches for 19 yards.
Bell also lost a fumble in what was a quiet end to third-year undrafted free agent's first meaningful NFL campaign. However, Bell did more than enough to nail-down his roster spot heading into 2013, pulling down 52 receptions for 485 yards as the primary passing-down back for Detroit's brutally thin running back corps. The fact that he added 82 rushes for 414 yards (5.0 yards per carry) bolsters his case. Although the Lions are certain to take measures to upgrade their stable of runners, Bell will begin next year on the PPR-league radar.

Sun Dec 23 201201:17Bell totals 83 yards in loss to Falcons
Joique Bell totaled 83 yards in the Lions' Week 16 loss to the Falcons.
Bell was rarely used in the running game with just four carries and has seen his role scaled back the last two weeks. However, he continues to dominate in no-huddle comeback mode and is used in all passing-down situations. Bell missed an opportunity to vulture a touchdown when he failed to convert on a goal-line carry late in the third quarter. He's now averaging 5.1 yards per carry with 874 total yards and three touchdowns going into the Lions' regular season finale against the Bears.

Mon Dec 10 201200:20Joique Bell totals 96 yards in loss
Joique Bell rushed 12 times for 49 yards in Detroit's Week 14 loss to the Packers, adding five catches for 47 yards.
One week after Lions OC Scott Linehan said Bell is earning more playing time, he touched the ball a season-high 17 times. He averaged just 6.3 touches between Weeks 10-13. Bell continued to monopolize passing-down snaps over Mikel Leshoure, and ended up with only two fewer carries. Bell's one tote inside the Packers' six-yard line matched Leshoure's total for the evening. A full-blown timeshare appears to be developing in Detroit, and if Leshoure is no longer the Lions' clear-cut goal-line back, there's no question Bell will be the Lions' runner to own going forward. Of course, neither player would be a particularly compelling flex option under that scenario.
