Fri Oct 3 201411:40Bell (concussion) spotted at Friday's practice
Bell (concussion) was spotted at Friday's practice, Kyle Meinke of MLive Media Group reports.
Bell did not participate Friday, but he was present for the first time since suffering a concussion last Sunday. It's not certain where he stands in the NFL's concussion protocol, but he will need be cleared to play this week against the Bills, and even then he could be held out after missing practice all week. Expect an update on his status when the Lions release Friday's injury report.
Thu Oct 2 201415:07Bell (concussion) didn't practice Thursday
Bell (concussion) didn't practice Thursday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Bell has yet to receive clearance from the league's concussion protocol, placing doubt into his potential availability Sunday versus the Bills. Behind a healthy Reggie Bush, the remaining RB workload would be handed to the Theo Riddick, but he's also been absent this week due to a hamstring concern. As a result, Friday's injury report could clarify who spells Bush in Week 5.
Wed Oct 1 201415:15Joique Bell: (Concussion) No Practice Wednesday
Bell (concussion) didn't take part in practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Clearly, Bell remains embedded in the league's strict protocol for head injuries. Because his status is up in the air for Sunday's game against the Bills, Reggie Bush is poised to handle the bulk of the work out of the Lions' backfield.

Bell suffered a concussion during Sunday's game against the Jets, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Bell was forced to exit Sunday's contest with just 32 yards on eight carries. With a concussion now confirmed, Bell will have to follow league protocol before being cleared to play next.

Bell is being evaluated for a head injury and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Jets.
Bell overcame a knee issue to play Sunday, but could now be done for the day after suffering a head concern. Prior to exiting Sunday's contest, Bell ran eight times for 32 yards.
Sun Sep 28 201412:06Bell (knee) active for Sunday's contest at Jets
Bell (knee) is active for Sunday's contest at the Jets, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Bell's opponent has fared well against running backs this season, giving up 201 total yards and no scores through three games. If another palatable option exists, owners may want to roll with another running back.
Fri Sep 26 201416:17Bell (knee) probable for Sunday's game against Jets
Bell (knee) is probable for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Bell practiced fully Thursday and Friday, so he's ready to go for Sunday's game. The Jets pose a tough matchup for sure, but Bell should remain involved as a pass catcher and is the Lions' best on-paper candidate to get goal-line carries.
Thu Sep 25 201418:28Joique Bell: (Knee) Full Practice Thursday
Bell (knee) participated fully in Thursday's practice, the Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Bell's knee is far healthier than a week ago, when he was only able to log limited practices Wednesday through Friday. If probable status is again given to him on Friday's injury report, his normal workload of 10-to-15 carries, plus a handful of targets, should represent Sunday's outing at the Jets, as he works in tandem with Reggie Bush.
Wed Sep 24 201417:13Joique Bell: (Knee) Limited Wednesday
Bell (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
During the offseason, Bell missed OTAs and the mandatory minicamp due to a knee injury, which subsided by the beginning of training camp. However, the ailment reared its head last week and followed the running back into the current week of prep, limiting him in drills once again. He may log capped practices in order to keep his health intact, but as the week rolls along, his status for Sunday's game versus the Jets at New York should receive clarification.

Bell (knee) had 15 carries for 33 yards but he was not targeted in a 19-7 win over the Packers on Sunday.
Bell finished with three more carries than Reggie Bush, although Bush had 27 more rushing yards and a touchdown, plus six catches for 38 receiving yards. Bell's activity in the passing game this season is the definition of up-and-down, as he caught one pass on one target for five yards in Week 1, then caught six passes on 11 targets for 61 yards in Week 2 before Sunday's donut. With a Week 4 matchup against a Jets defense that is the best in the NFL against the run, Bell will need to be active in the passing game to generate much fantasy production.
Sun Sep 21 201412:11Bell (knee) active for Sunday's game against Packers
Bell (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Bell is good to go in a game which might be a high-scoring affair.
Fri Sep 19 201417:11Bell (knee) probable for Sunday's game against Green Bay
Bell (knee) is probable for Sunday's game against Green Bay.
Bell logged limited practices all week and is ready to go for Sunday's game against the Packers. The matchup appears on paper to be rather favorable for Bell, as the Packers have allowed 60 points through two games.
Wed Sep 17 201421:38Bell (knee) limited participant in Wednesday's practice
Bell (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, the Lions' official site reports.
Bell was absent from OTAs and the mandatory minicamp due to a knee issue, but it's unclear if the current concern is at all related. When healthy, he's a part of a two-headed monster out of the Lions' backfield with Reggie Bush, totaling 25 carries for 87 yards, seven receptions for 66 yards, and one rushing touchdown through two games. Expect clarity on Bell's availability as the week rolls along.

Bell had 10 carries for 36 rushing yards and six catches on 11 targets for 61 receiving yards Sunday against the Panthers.
Bell continues to be looked at as Reggie Bush's backup, but he finished with four more carries, eight more targets and four more receptions on Sunday. He could have even more success in Week 3 when the Lions host a Packers team that allowed 146 rushing yards to the Jets in Week 2.

Bell had 15 carries for 51 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 35-14 win over the Giants, adding one reception for five yards.
Reggie Bush gained just 15 yards on nine carries, but did haul in all six of his targets for 49 yards. Seven of Bell's 15 carries came in the fourth quarter, when the Lions were nursing a double-digit lead. While Bush remains the better bet to lead the team in touches most weeks, Bell still has the closer's role. Bell draws one of his toughest matchups of the season in Week 2, with the Lions heading to Carolina to face the Panthers' stout front seven. The matchup isn't quite as harsh for Bush, who is a bit more dependent on receptions.

Bell has 11 carries for 42 yards through the Lions' three preseason games thus far.
Bell's involvement has been fairly limited during the preseason, as the Lions rest their power back for the heavy lifting they'll require during the regular season. While Reggie Bush remains Detroit's No. 1 running back, Bell is close behind and among the league's best second-stringers. With 53 receptions and eight rushing touchdowns last season, Bell is especially useful in PPR leagues. Nonetheless, working in the Lions' high-powered offense should allow both Bush and Bell to prosper again this term.

Bell had seven carries for 24 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Jaguars.
Three Lions had at least seven carries in the game, though one was not Reggie Bush, who had just two but figures to see more going forward. It's a crowded backfield in Detroit, but Bell is going to get his fair share of carries.

Bell gained 11 yards on one carry in Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns.
Bell, who dealt with a knee injury in the offseason, missed Friday's practice for personal reasons. He played a few snaps on the first-team offense's only drive Saturday, and then had one carry with the second-stringers waived off due to a penalty. Bell's role doesn't seem to have changed much from last season, as he still figures to get quite a few more touches than your average No. 2 running back. There's been some speculation that both Bush and Bell will see fewer carries this year, but such a scenario could mean an uptick in receptions.

Bell missed Friday's practice for personal reasons, Mlive.com reports.
While it's unclear if Bell will suit up for Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns, coach Jim Caldwell confirmed that Bell (who dealt with a knee issue this offseason) is not currently battling an injury. For his part, Bell noted after practice Thursday that he was feeling strong and healthy at this stage of training camp.
Wed Jul 30 201421:40Joique (knee) cutting, accelerating with ease
Joique Bell (knee) is cutting and accelerating "with ease" at Lions camp.
Bell rested his sore left knee by sitting out OTAs and minicamp, but it was never a real concern. He's been back to 100 percent since early July, and has not been limited at camp. Bell, who was just handed a three-year contract by the Lions, has a realistic shot at leading the team in carries this season. There's some value in his current fifth-round ADP.
