Gonzalez coughed up eight hits and three earned runs in 5.2 innings against Boston on Sunday.

Gonzalez did manage to whiff seven batters, but it wasn't the best of outings for the right-hander, who was up to 107 pitches before getting pulled. Gonzalez will close out his regular season Saturday in Toronto.

The Reds have not hit much in quite some time and Gonzalez got to pitch against them while they are down. Nonetheless, it is a highlight for Gonzalez, who has been serviceable again this year. He only has eight wins, but Gonzalez was briefly sent to the minors during the All-Star break and he had a stint on the DL. There is even a chance Gonzalez is in the discussion for the playoff rotation.

Gonzalez was on his game Friday night, allowing just one run on four hits, walking one and striking out six over seven innings of a 9-1 win against Minnesota.

Gonzalez (7-7, 3.61 ERA) was put back in the rotation when the Orioles decided to move Ubaldo Jimenez to the bullpen and he continues to justify that decision. He's not flashy, but he keeps the O's in games and they have the offense to turn that into wins. He'll take on the Reds in Camden Yards next time out.

The team hasn't revealed their immediate plans with Gonzalez, but he could very well replace Ubaldo Jimenez in the near future.
