Wed Apr 9 201421:56Marcin Gortat drops 27 & 14 in loss
Marcin Gortat had 27 points, 14 rebounds, a steal and two blocks in Wednesday's OT loss to the Bobcats.
While the 27 points weren't a season high, it was his second-highest total and the most he's scored since going for 31 points on Feb. 27. Gortat obviously wasn't bothered by the return of Nene and is on fire right now, averaging 20.25 points, 10.0 rebounds and .75 blocks over his last four games.

Wed Apr 2 201423:04Gortat has 22 points, Wizards clinch playoffs
Marcin Gortat had 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists on Wednesday night as the Wizards clinched a playoff berth with a 118-92 win over the Celtics.
It's the first playoff appearance for the Wiz since 2008 and they'd enter as the six seed if the regular season ended today. Gortat's play since Nene's injury has been huge, as he averaged a double-double with 1.7 blocks and shot 52.7 percent from the field in March. John Wall had 10 assists Wednesday, marking his first time in double figures there since March 21.

Marcin Gortat scored 12 points vs. the Hawks on Saturday with 11 boards, two assists, one steal and four blocks in 33 minutes.
He had a precautionary MRI on Thursday and everything came back clean from his back issue from last week. Gortat had some unorthodox treatment from a specialist in Los Angeles and it seems like it worked its magic. He's having a great year in his first season with the Wizards.

Thu Mar 27 201414:44Marcin Gortat (back) has precautionary MRI
Marcin Gortat (back) will have a precautionary MRI on Thursday.
Gortat missed one game last week but quickly returned after visiting a specialist in Chinese orthopedics, and it sounds like the Wizards are merely double-checking that there's no structural damage. Nene (sprained MCL) may return in the next few weeks, but he'll take Trevor Booker's job and as long as the MRI comes back negative it's safe to keep the Polish Hammer in all active lineups.

Sun Mar 23 201419:51Marcin Gortat double-doubles w/ five assists
Marcin Gortat double-doubled with 16 points and 10 rebounds on Sunday, while falling one shy of his season high with five assists.
He also blocked two shots and has been playing great ever since Nene (knee) went down during the last week of February. Over the past month, only five players have averaged more than Gortat's 11.4 rebounds per game -- Nicolas Batum, DeMarcus Cousins, Andre Drummond, DeAndre Jordan, and leader Tyson Chandler.

Sat Mar 22 201415:42Marcin Gortat received strange treatment
Marcin Gortat gave credit for his quick recovery from a back injury to a Los Angeles-based specialist in Chinese medicine orthopedics.
Few people were expecting Gortat to give it a go on Friday vs. the Lakers after a pre-game injury on Thursday kept him out of action in Portland, but he was able to play after receiving some strange treatment. "He actually just rubbed my knee and my calf and the pain went away," Gortat said. "I swear, I don't know how he did that. In 45 minutes, he fixed me to the point I could play. I wasn't perfect. I still felt a little stiffness but then, when I get warmed up, I start feeling better and my agility and movement was perfect. All props go to him, so from now on he's my hero." Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Fri Mar 21 201422:17Marcin Gortat (back) will start vs. Lakers
Marcin Gortat (back) will start against the Lakers on Friday.
After it looked like he suffered a bad injury on Thursday, Gortat needed just one day to recover. He has been outstanding for the Wizards in his first year with them and we'll get a look to see how he fares tonight. Kevin Seraphin will move back to the bench and doesn't project to get much playing time.

Fri Mar 21 201422:09Marcin Gortat warming up, likely to play
Marcin Gortat (back) is warming up and is expected to play against Lakers.
After missing some shootaround and Thursday's game for a back problem, Gortat looks like he's feeling a lot better. If he's able to go Kevin Seraphin will move back to the bench. Drew Gooden has been solid even while Gortat has been active, so he's still a viable option.

Thu Mar 20 201421:26Marcin Gortat (back) will not play vs. POR
Marcin Gortat (back) will not play against the Blazers on Thursday.
He may have injured himself in pre-game warmups as he was walking back to the locker room in some pain. Gortat has been very durable for the Wizards in his first year and this will be his first game out of the lineup all season. Drew Gooden has exceeded all expectations and should get the call tonight while a committee approach of Trevor Booker, Al Harrington and Kevin Seraphin should also chip in.

Mon Mar 10 201422:13Gortat puts up 14 points, career-high 18 rebs
Marcin Gortat scored 14 points on 7-of-15 shooting with a career-high tying 18 rebounds, four assists and no steals or blocks in Monday's loss to the Heat.
True to form the Heat gave up big numbers inside and clamped down on guys like John Wall (seven points, 2-of-8 FGs, two threes, six rebounds, eight assists, one steal, seven turnovers) and Trevor Ariza (six points, 2-of-11 FGs, one three, five boards, two steals, five turnovers). Gortat has been a top 60-70 play over the last month.

Fri Feb 28 201409:49Marcin Gortat wants a rest day Saturday
Marcin Gortat plans to rest during Friday's practice.
Gortat certainly earned it after going for 31 points, 12 boards and four blocks in a whopping 51 minutes during Thursday's triple-overtime win at Toronto. "I'm going to pull my veteran wild card [Friday], I want a day off," he said afterward. "I just can't go. I played 51 minutes and I'm barely standing right now." With Nene and Kevin Seraphin both sidelined, the Wiz are leaning heavily on Gortat right now. He's tired now, but we'd expect another big game in a dream matchup at Philly Saturday.

Thu Feb 27 201423:44Marcin Gortat scores career-high 31 points
Marcin Gortat scored a career-high 31 points against the Raptors during a triple-overtime victory on Thursday with 12 boards, one assist and four blocks.
The Raptors went small and it allowed Gortat to dominate inside. He shot the ball a stunningly-high 23 times tonight, making 12 of them in his 51 minutes of action. The Wizards are going to have to count on Gortat more often with Nene (knee) possibly out for the regular season, so there should be plenty of big lines on the way for the Polish Hammer.

Tue Feb 25 201422:15Gortat, Vucevic put on center show Tuesday
Marcin Gortat had 21 points and 10 rebounds on 9-of-13 shooting, while opponent Nikola Vucevic hit 9-of-14 shots for 19 points, 14 rebounds, a steal and a block.
The two big men put up great numbers against each other, although both of them usually do good things on a nightly basis. After seeing tonight's battle, it's too bad they can't play against each other every night.

Sun Feb 23 201421:31Marcin Gortat could see an uptick on offense
Marcin Gortat scored 13 points with 13 boards and three assists on 5-of-14 from the field in 34 minutes against the Cavs on Sunday.
There's a good chance Gortat will have bigger numbers while Nene (knee) is out. He only has a 13.9 usage rate while on the court with Nene, which is well below his 19.0 without him. His field goal percentage might take a small dip, but his fantasy owners should expect better overall production with his backups likely needing to help out in the power-forward department.

Wed Feb 19 201422:10Marcin Gortat goes for 14-12-2
Marcin Gortat had 14 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in Wednesday's win over the Hawks.
We probably don't blurb Gortat as much as we should, but this is what he does. He's averaging 13.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocks over his last five games.

Wed Jan 22 201423:02Marcin Gortat playing great lately for Wiz
Marcin Gortat did not slow down against the Celtics on Wednesday with 11 points, 13 boards, two assists, three steals and one block in 44 minutes.
It was his third consecutive double-double and a season high in steals for the Polish Hammer. Gortat's scoring numbers are down a little bit in January compared to December, but he's up in field goal percentage, rebounds and blocks. He's a strong No. 2 center in most fantasy leagues.

Mon Jan 20 201420:16Marcin Gortat has a big day vs. Philly
Marcin Gortat dominated in the paint against the Sixers on Monday with 19 points, 11 boards and four blocks on 7-of-11 from the field in just 23 minutes.
It was a low-post fest for Gortat with all 11 of his attempts from the floor coming from inside 11 feet. Gortat has scored in double-digits in each of his last four games with 2.5 blocks per game, which has helped get his fantasy value to new heights. There's no reason to think he can't be a 12-9 guy with around 1.5 blocks per game the rest of the way.
