Fri Jan 17 201421:48Gortat turns in solid effort in win over CHI
Marcin Gortat scored 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting with six rebounds and three blocks in the Wizards' 96-93 win over the Bulls on Friday.
This isn't breaking down any doors but owners simply want consistency from Gortat and they got a workmanlike performance tonight. John Wall scored 23 points with 11 assists, Bradley Beal dealt with early foul trouble but still managed 14 points, two threes and two steals, and Nene had 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks to go with an ugly 3-of-15 mark from the field.

Sat Jan 11 201422:45Marcin Gortat plays under 20 minutes vs. HOU
Marcin Gortat struggled with foul trouble on Saturday and was limited to five points, three rebounds and three assists in under 20 minutes of action.
If it's not one thing, it's another for Gortat this season. He finished with four fouls and could have re-entered the game but coach Randy Wittman opted to ride Nene and Kevin Seraphin instead, since both guys were playing well off the bench. Gortat had two nice double-double in his previous three games, and owners have no choice but to take the good with the bad.

Tue Jan 7 201421:53Marcin Gortat bounces back after benching
Marcin Gortat, who was benched and played just 19 minutes on Sunday, hit 7-of-13 shots for 18 points, 13 rebounds, a steal and three blocks in Tuesday's easy win over the Bobcats.
His minutes had been on the decline recently but he played 38 of them tonight, and might be out of Randy Wittman's doghouse after tonight's performance. This was his first double-double since Dec. 21.

Sun Jan 5 201422:19Marcin Gortat benched early in third quarter
Marcin Gortat played 19 minutes on Sunday and didn't return after being benched three minutes into the third quarter.
Wizards coach Randy Wittman has been upset with his team's effort in recent games and he was obviously displeased with Gortat, possibly due to an ill-advised shot earlier in the quarter. Gortat has openly questioned his role in the Wizards' offense and he hasn't played more than 27 minutes in the past six games, so things are reaching a crisis point for fantasy owners. In most cases patience is the best course of action, as his trade value is currently bottoming out.

Sat Jan 4 201400:10Gortat plays just 22 minutes against Raptors
Marcin Gortat played just 22 minutes in the Wizards' 101-88 loss to the Raptors on Friday, scoring 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting with five rebounds and no steals or blocks.
Gortat wasn't in foul trouble and opposing center Jonas Valanciunas played 29 minutes, meaning the Raptors didn't exactly go small tonight. We'll keep our eyes out for any injuries and for whether or not Gortat has found himself in the doghouse, but in the meantime just consider this a speed bump for now.

Sat Dec 21 201315:40Marcin Gortat double-doubles in road win
Marcin Gortat double-doubled in Saturday's road win, scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds, two assists and four steals, while making 6-of-9 field goals.
Gortat recently questioned his role in the Wizards' offense, to which coach Randy Wittman relied, "Sometimes, when you go through a bad spell, you kind of point the finger somewhere [else]." He also implored Gortat to "get his big butt rolling to the basket," which he did well enough on Saturday to crack double-digits for the second time in four games, and Nene's return is also aiding Gortat's offensive game.

Sun Dec 15 201309:47Marcin Gortat unhappy w/ role on Wizards
Marcin Gortat said after Saturday's game that he wants to talk to Wizards coach Randy Wittman about his role, which he feels has taken him too far away from the basket offensively.
"I just don't like the position I play. I'm constantly drifting more and more away from the basket," said Gortat. "Quite honestly, that's not my game ... I feel more comfortable underneath the basket." John Wall said that Gortat needs to regain his confidence and take the shots available to him in pick-and-rolls, but fantasy owners can't be too upset -- he scored double-digit points in nine straight games prior to Saturday's dud, and he's shooting 53.9 percent from the field this season.

Sat Nov 30 201303:14Gortat goes for 17 and 10 in loss to Pacers
Marcin Gortat was the only Wizard to truly hold his own in Friday's loss to the Pacers, as he scored 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting with 10 rebounds, one steal and one block.
It's not surprising that the team struggled against the cream of the Eastern Conference drop, especially without Nene in the fold. John Wall had just eight points on 4-of-14 shooting to go with nine assists, Trevor Ariza did fine in the box score with 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting, four boards, two threes, one steal and two blocks, and Martell Webster was quiet with eight points, five boards and two threes in the loss.

Thu Nov 28 201300:34Marcin Gortat posts big line in win
Marcin Gortat had 25 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks on 11-of-12 shooting Wednesday, equating to a monster fantasy line.
Gortat is now averaging 14 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks over his last five games. It's hard to imagine where the Wizards would be without Gortat, and the trade they made with the Suns to get him looks like one of the best moves the NBA will see this season. As a reminder, they acquired Gortat for a first-round pick back in late October.

Sat Nov 23 201322:29Marcin Gortat goes off against the Knicks
Marcin Gortat had his way in the paint against the Knicks on Saturday with 16 points, 17 boards, two assists and two blocks in 37 minutes.
It's usually the Wizards that have a weak interior defense, but Gortat was a man amongst boys in the paint. This was his sixth double-double of the year and he had a season-high with 17 boards. He won't have much scoring, but the blocks and boards make him a near must-start with his new team.

Sun Nov 10 201322:14Marcin Gortat blocks season-high four shots
Marcin Gortat blocked a season-high four shots in Sunday's disappointing loss, adding 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal in 39 minutes.
Gortat has quickly found his footing as the Wizards' starting center, averaging 14.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in November. The rebounds may be the most critical numbers, as Washington is ranked 25th in the league with a mere 40.2 boards per game.

Sat Nov 9 201300:25Marcin Gortat puts up third dub-dub in a row
Marcin Gortat logged his third consecutive double-double on Friday with 15 points, 12 boards, one assist, two blocks and one steal in 35 minutes.
He is locked in as the team's starting center while creating a nice rapport with Nene in the paint. Gortat started off last season hot and he looks poised for a nice year with John Wall running the show and helping him get good looks.

Wed Nov 6 201323:31Marcin Gortat right at home in Washington
Marcin Gortat had 19 points, 12 rebounds, a steal and block on 8-of-12 shooting in Wednesday's win over the Sixers.
Gortat is fitting in very well for the Wizards and might just be the center they needed every since JaVale McGee left. Tonight's line was strong and marks the second straight game he's posted a double-double.

Sun Nov 3 201321:35Marcin Gortat double-doubles vs. Miami
Marcin Gortat notched his first double-double of the season on Sunday, scoring 15 points on 7-of-14 FGs, with 11 rebounds and zero blocks.
The Wizards have the third-fastest pace in this early NBA season, averaging 102.6 possessions per game, which should be a boon for anyone who owns guys like Gortat, John Wall, Bradley Beal or Trevor Ariza. It didn't amount to much vs. Miami's defense tonight, but Gortat is settling in nicely as the Wizards' unquestioned starting center.

Fri Nov 1 201322:44Marcin Gortat gets 37 minutes on Friday
Marcin Gortat played 37 minutes in a start at center on Friday, scoring 12 points with seven boards, one assist, one steal and three blocks on 5-of-10 shooting.
He only played 17 minutes in the opener, but with Nene (calf) sitting out, the team had to turn to their new big man a little sooner than planned. Gortat isn't much of a scorer and his main job will be to protect the paint, so those three blocks tonight aren't much of an anomaly. It'll be interesting to see how many minutes he gets once Nene comes back.

Fri Nov 1 201318:28Update: Marcin Gortat will start Friday
Updating a previous item, Marcin Gortat will start on Friday night against the Sixers.
The Wizards had to make some adjustments with Nene (calf) out for tonight. They have a bunch of power forwards with Trevor Booker, Kevin Seraphin and Al Harrington, so it seems like Gortat should get more than this 17 minutes from the opener.

Fri Nov 1 201317:32Marcin Gortat still not starting on Friday
Marcin Gortat will not be in the starting lineup for the second consecutive game.
He played just 17 minutes off the bench in his debut with his new team on Wednesday, but it's fair to expect him to get a few more minutes. Trevor Booker will likely draw the start after his underwhelming two-point, five-board debut. Fantasy hoops requires patience and someone like Gortat is still worth owning in all leagues.

Thu Oct 31 201300:02Marcin Gortat solid off bench in Wiz debut
Marcin Gortat came off the bench and played just 17 minutes in his Wizards debut, but still managed to hit 3-of-6 shots for nine points, nine rebounds and a block.
It's only a matter of time before he's starting at center in Washington and tonight's line was a good sign of things to come.

Wed Oct 30 201311:28Marcin Gortat ready to go for Wizards
Marcin Gortat may not start in the Wizards' opener but he's healthy and ready to play.
Nene would handle the C spot if Gortat isn't ready to start after three practices with his new team. Either way he'll be starting before long, and should get all the minutes he can handle vs. the Pistons' imposing frontcourt on Wednesday.

Mon Oct 28 201318:11Marcin Gortat practices with Wizards
Marcin Gortat practiced with the Wizards on Monday and will do so again on Tuesday, prior to Wednesday's season opener.
It's unknown if Gortat will start at center in the opener, but with two practices under his belt and not much of a challenge from other players, we'd be surprised if he's not out there.
