RHP Asher Wojciechowski was designated for assignment by Miami to make room for Cole Figueroa on the 40-man roster. The 27-year old Wojciechowski, who made his MLB debut last year with Houston, going 0-1 in five games, was 3-4 with a 7.89 ERA in 10 minor league starts, five since being picked up by Miami on June 19. He was ripped to the tune of a 15.95 ERA in three starts for New Orleans.

RHP Asher Wojciechowski was designated for assignment on Tuesday by the Astros. Wojciechowski was 2-2 with a 5.33 ERA in five starts for Triple-A Fresno, but didn't make any appearances this season for Houston. In 2015, he went 0-1 with a 7.16 ERA in 16 1/3 relief innings for the Astros.

Wojciechowski was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Saturday.
Wojciechowski's time in the majors was short-lived --- he pitched in one third of an inning on Friday before being sent back down to make way for recently acquired reliever Oliver Perez. In 88 innings with Triple-A Fresno this season, the 26-year-old has accumulated a 5.42 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with a 67:25 K:BB ratio. Even if Wojciechowski finds his way back onto the major league roster, it's unlikely he will serve as anything more than bullpen depth for the Astros.

Wojciechowski was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Wednesday.
Wojciechowski has spent the bulk of the season at Triple-A, save for one, brief call-up in mid-May. In 15 starts for Fresno, he's 6-2 with a 5.42 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. The 2010 first-rounder has been roughed up a bit of late, allowing 18 earned runs over his last three starts. In a corresponding move, Houston optioned right-hander Dan Straily for assignment.

Wojciechowski was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.
With Luke Gregerson returning from the Family Medical Emergency List, the Astros no longer have room for Wojciechowski on the 25-man roster. Wojciechowski hasn't inspired much confidence thus far, allowing 13 runs on 23 hits and seven walks through 16 innings.

Wojciechowski was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Friday.
Wojciechowski didn't have much success during his first major league stint, but he'll likely be part of the Astros' bullpen the second time around. He'll take the place of Luke Gregerson on the 25-man roster temporarily, but his stay in the majors may not last long.

Wojciechowski was optioned to Triple-A Fresno on Monday.
Wojciechowski has made three starts for the big league club this season, going just four innings while allowing at least four runs in each of them. L.J. Hoes was recalled to take up his roster spot, so Wojciechowski's demotion could be an indication that Brad Peacock is nearing a return off the disabled list and to the rotation.

Wojciechowski gave up five runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over four innings Sunday against the A's.
Wojciechowski (0-1) didn't factor into the decision after taking another early exit in just his third big league start. The 26-year-old right-hander has not pitched more than four innings in any appearance thus far. "We needed Wojciechowski to give us a little more," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said after the game. He'll make his next start against the Mariners for the second time in 2015 on Friday.

Wojciechowski allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts over four innings Monday, but did not factor into the decision against the Mariners.
The 26-year-old took an early exit after allowing 10 baserunners in four innings in his second big league start. Wojciechowski (0-1) will carry a 6.00 ERA into his next scheduled start at Oakland on Sunday.

Wojciechowski will start Monday against the Mariners.
Wojciechowski was brought back Friday to replace Brad Peacock (intercostal strain) on the active roster, and as expected, he will also take Peacock's spot in the rotation. The Indians got to Wojciechowski for four runs on eight hits and two walks in four innings last week in the right-hander's first career major league start.

Wojciechowski was recalled from Triple-A Fresno on Friday.
Wojciechowski will once again take the place of Brad Peacock (intercostal strain) on the 25-man roster. His stay on the roster should be a little longer this time, but it probably won't last past Peacock's stint on the DL.
Mon Apr 13 201523:34Wojciechowski will not make expected start against Athletics on ...
Wojciechowski will not make his expected start against the Athletics on Tuesday and will instead be sent down to Triple-A Fresno.
Wojciechowski is getting sent down to make room for Brad Peacock (hip) who will be coming off the 15-day disabled list and starting in Tuesday's game instead. This obviously hurts Wojciechowski's value but manager A.J. Hinch said that Houston will recall Wojciechowski at a later date in the season.

Wojciechowski's first start of the year didn't go well, as he gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings against the Indians on Thursday.
An ugly start to the year for Wojciechowski, who gave up homers to a pair of guys in shortstop Jose Ramirez and backup catcher Roberto Perez who are hardly known for their power bats. He'll look to redeem himself at home against Oakland on Tuesday.
Wed Apr 1 201509:53Asher Wojciechowski: Opens 2015 in Astros' Rotation
Wojciechowski has made the Astros' Opening Day roster and will start their third game of the season against the Indians on April 9, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Brett Oberholtzer (finger, back) and Brad Peacock (hip) will open 2015 on the DL, paving the way for Wojciechowski to step into the Astros' starting rotation after a strong spring. The 26-year-old has been Houston's best starter in camp with a 1.29 ERA and 16:5 K:BB over 21 Grapefruit League innings.

Wojciechowski could still make the rotation despite Roberto Hernandez making the opening day roster, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
According to McTaggart, Wojciechowski's potential addition to the rotation hinges on Brett Oberholtzer (back) being healthy enough to start the season. Oberholtzer will start Saturday.

Wojciechowski made his case for the Astros' fifth starter job on Wednesday, permitting one run on four hits with no walks and four strikeouts over 4.2 innings against the Phillies.
Samuel Deduno worked in long relief during the same Grapefruit League contest, which seemingly narrows down Houston's fifth starter competition to Wojciechowski and Roberto Hernandez. Wojciechowski likely has a leg up on Hernandez, however, as he's been the Astros' best starter in camp with a 1.08 spring ERA.

Wojciechowski allowed a hit and a walk over two scoreless frames Thursday in the Astros' Grapefruit League opener against the Phillies.
Wojciechowski missed all of spring training last year with a strained lat muscle, but he's healthy entering 2015 and made a solid first impression in his bid to break camp as the Astros' No. 5 starter. The 26-year-old went 4-4 with a 4.74 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) at Triple-A last season.
