Wed Jan 8 201401:04Boris Diaw scores 11 in return from illness
Boris Diaw returned from an illness and hit 5-of-6 shots and a 3-pointer on his way to 11 points, three rebounds and a steal in 26 minutes off the bench.
Jeff Ayres started at center for injured Tiago Splitter, but didn't do much and we expect Diaw to be a much more reliable player for as long as Splitter is out (which will be several weeks).

Sun Jan 5 201413:24Boris Diaw (strep throat) cleared to play Tue
Boris Diaw (strep throat) has been cleared to play vs. the Grizzlies on Tuesday.
It's nice to see Diaw on the mend so quickly and he may find himself with more minutes than usual if Tiago Splitter (shoulder) isn't able to suit up.

Sat Jan 4 201418:35Boris Diaw out vs. Clippers w/ strep throat
Boris Diaw (strep throat) will not play for the Spurs on Saturday.
The Spurs are taking on the Clippers and guys like Tim Duncan, Tiago Splitter, Jeff Ayres and Matt Bonner will each have to contribute more with Diaw unavailable. With any luck he'll recover in time for Tuesday's road game.

Sun Dec 22 201300:35Boris Diaw scores 14 in loss to OKC
Boris Diaw played 29 minutes and hit 6-of-9 shots for 14 points, five rebounds and five assists in Saturday's loss to the Thunder.
Diaw saw some extra run with Kawhi Leonard (dental) out and this was his best scoring game since Dec. 2. He'll likely go back to mediocrity once Leonard is back, and doesn't really hold much value in fantasy leagues on nights when the Spurs are healthy.

Mon Dec 2 201323:35Boris Diaw looks fine after hand injury
Boris Diaw didn't skip a beat after suffering a hand injury on Saturday's game, shooting 7-of-9 from the field for 16 points with two rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes on Monday.
He dislocated his finger and had his hand taped up tonight. Diaw actually has better numbers off the bench this year, so he's worth a look as a low-upside guy at the end of a fantasy bench in some formats.

Mon Dec 2 201312:11Boris Diaw (finger) will play vs. Atlanta
Boris Diaw (dislocated finger) will be ready to go for Monday's game vs. the Hawks.
The injury looked ugly but fortunately there wasn't any ligament damage to accompany the dislocation, and Diaw will play with his left middle finger taped up. Diaw has been very effective in 16 games this year, averaging 10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 23 minutes.

Sat Nov 30 201322:02Boris Diaw dislocates finger, out for game
Boris Diaw dislocated his left left middle finger and will not return to Saturday's game.
There is no report of a fracture, so that's good news. Diaw finished with five points, two boards, one block and one 3-pointer in 11 minutes. Tiago Splittter has been picking up the slack while Diaw is out. He should be considered questionable for Monday's game against the Hawks.

Sat Nov 30 201321:36Boris Diaw suffers middle finger injury
Boris Diaw went to the locker room in the first half of Saturday's game with an injury to his left hand.
It looked like he suffered a dislocation to his left middle finger, so the team will likely check for a fracture. Hopefully, Diaw just has some sprained ligaments in his finger, but it wouldn't be a surprised that his finger could cause him to mis time considering how bad it looked. Tiago Splitter would pick up some extra minutes at center while Diaw is out.

Sat Nov 30 201320:20Boris Diaw starting at center Saturday
Boris Diaw is starting at center for the Spurs on Saturday against the Rockets.
It's a patented Gregg Popovich move and Diaw will make his fifth start of the season. In his previous four, he averaged 9.3 points, 3.0 boards and 0.3 blocks. Interestingly, all of those averages are greater when he comes off the bench.

Tue Nov 26 201300:47Diaw (ribs) plays on Monday vs. Pelicans
Boris Diaw (ribs) played in Monday's blowout win against the Pelicans, scoring 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting (no threes) with five rebounds, two assists and a steal in 31 minutes.
Clearly the rib issue didn't impact him tonight and he continues to be on the cusp of 12-team value in standard formats, but is better served being used in 14-16 team formats where his productivity and consistency issues can be addressed.

Mon Nov 25 201312:12Boris Diaw (ribs) available to play Monday
Boris Diaw (ribs) will be available vs. the Pelicans on Monday.
Diaw is having a fine season with the streaking Spurs, averaging 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.6 blocks in 24 minutes, while leading the team with 55.9 percent shooting. Jeff Ayres picked up his minutes vs. the Cavaliers, but he'll drop down the rotation with Diaw back in action.

Sat Nov 23 201319:03Boris Diaw won't play on Saturday night
Boris Diaw suffered a right rib contusion and will not play against the Cavs on Saturday.
He has been a very effective player for the Spurs and fantasy owners alike over his last 10 games, averaging 10.5 points on 56.1 percent from the field. Tiago Splitter is coming off his best game of the season and could get a chance to get on a roll while Diaw is out. The Spurs next game is Monday against the Pelicans.

Sat Nov 23 201301:56Diaw disappears against the Grizzlies
Boris Diaw disappeared on Friday, scoring seven points on 3-of-7 shooting with just one rebound and one assist in 18 minutes.
Diaw has been able to avoid the often unavoidable lows of coming off the bench, and if you took a chance on him in a 12-team league it's enough to warrant a drop given his limited upside. In deeper leagues owners may want to cut him some slack, but we could be looking at the start of a return to normalcy for Diaw.

Sat Nov 16 201303:36Diaw scores 17 points off the bench
Boris Diaw scored 17 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 6-of-9 shots (including a three) with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 28 minutes.
Diaw hit all four of his free throws and has moved into late round value, so give him a look, but while Gregg Popovich has handed him 24.4 minutes per game on the year there is no guarantee that continues.

Sun Nov 10 201312:15Diaw, Belinelli start vs. Knicks on Sunday
Boris Diaw and Marco Belinelli were both in the Spurs' starting lineup for Sunday's matinee vs. the Knicks.
Kawhi Leonard and Tiago Splitter shifted to the bench in a truly unexpected pregame move from Gregg Popovich. The Spurs play the second of a back-to-back set on Monday vs. the Sixers, so it's conceivable that Pop has a grander scheme in mind to keep his players fresh. With luck we'll get some explanations after the game.

Sat Nov 9 201306:18Diaw quiets down after making some noise
Boris Diaw quieted down on Friday after making minimal noise earlier in the week, managing just eight points on 4-of-8 shooting with just one assist to his credit in 16 minutes.
It looked like Diaw's insertion into the starting lineup over Tiago Splitter on Wednesday was matchup-driven, and if you weren't buying his sudden resurgence then last night's line makes a ton of sense. Diaw needs to prove his worth over time before owners in standard leagues pay him any attention.

Thu Nov 7 201302:12Boris Diaw scores 11 in Spurs win
Boris Diaw had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and a block on 5-of-14 shooting in 27 minutes on Wednesday.
He started over Tiago Splitter tonight but will likely come off the bench on most nights going forward. Diaw is getting some night run right now and is averaging 12 points per game and contributing in most categories on a nightly basis. If you need a F/C, Diaw is worth consideration for pick up.

Wed Nov 6 201301:17Boris Diaw quietly producing for Spurs
Boris Diaw played 26 minutes on Tuesday and hit 4-of-10 shots and a 3-pointer for nine points, eight rebounds, a steal and a block.
Tim Duncan played in this one, yet Diaw still got solid run. Gregg Popovich loves his aggressive nature on offense this season and it's time to pay close attention to Diaw. He scored 14 points in each of his first three games and the eight boards tonight were a season high. He's also hit a 3-pointer in every game this season and is shooting lights out. If you've got a guy on the end of your bench that you want to cut, Diaw should make for a solid pick up right now.

Fri Nov 1 201314:11Boris Diaw starting for Tim Duncan (chest)
Boris Diaw will start against the Lakers on Friday.
Tim Duncan (chest contusion) will not play after suffering an injury on Wednesday, but he doesn't have any broken ribs and this seems to be more of a day-to-day thing. Diaw wasn't too shabby in the opener with 14 points, four boards, one block and one 3-pointer, which may be a fair expectation for tonight's game.

Thu Oct 31 201302:27Boris Diaw plays well in 20 minutes
Boris Diaw had 14 points, four rebounds, one assist and a 3-pointer on 6-of-9 shooting in Wednesday's win.
Tim Duncan suffered a chest injury and is questionable for his next game. If he's out, Diaw could be worth an add in a daily league, as we're guessing he'd start in place of Duncan. Diaw was looking for his shot tonight, which was quite a departure from last season. Hopefully he'll keep doing so.
