Payton (knee) will play and start against the Pacers on Sunday, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Payton was dealing with a minor knee injury ahead of Sunday but is apparently well enough to play. The rookie has been on a bit of a hot streak of late as he's scored in double-digits in four of his last six games, although it's possible that this knee injury may cause problems for his explosiveness Sunday.

Payton (knee) was seen taking shots before Sunday's game against the Pacers, although he's still a game-time decision, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Payton was forced off the court in the fourth quarter of Friday's game against the Knicks with a knee injury. The rookie's status won't be updated until closer to tipoff while backup point guard Luke Ridnour waits to see if he'll have an expanded role against the Pacers.

Payton was diagnosed with a sore left knee after exiting late in the fourth quarter during Friday's loss to the Knicks, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Payton managed to deliver a rather pleasant stat line before departing, as he registered nine points, 11 assists and two steals over 37 minutes. His injury was initially believed to be ankle-related, but the follow-up report would seem to suggest it's an even lesser concern than that, as knee soreness isn't something that typically results in a lengthy absence for a younger, smaller players like Payton. Even so, with Orlando kicking off a back-to-back set Sunday against the Pacers, the well-coiffed rookie will have limited time to nurse himself back to full health if he hopes to be avoid missing any time.

Payton left in the fourth quarter of Friday's game against the Knicks with an ankle injury.

Payton likely won't return considering how late in the game he suffered the injury, but the teamMagic should provide an update on his status at some point before the team's next game Sunday against the Pacers.

Payton scored in double digits for a fourth consecutive game Sunday, putting up 19 points (9-17 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in 39 minutes.

Over his last five games, Payton has averaged 15.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.8 steals in 36 minutes per game while shooting 53 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free-throw line. Those numbers need to be owned in all leagues. While his percentages are likely to come down based on the fact that he's shot just 41 percent from the field and 53 percent from the line so far this season. However, the team recently stopped playing a half-court offense in order to play at a faster pace, and that change in playing style could mean that Payton's production will stay closer to his recent production. Make sure he's not sitting on the wire in any leagues.

Payton scored 22 points (9-16 FG, 4-5 FT) and added four rebounds, 12 assists, and two steals in 39 minutes against the Grizzlies Friday.

Both the 22 points and the 12 assists represent career highs for the rookie. Payton has a lot of value for managers looking for assists and steals, but Friday night aside he is still a liability in points.

Payton averaged 7.1 points, 6.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 30.2 minutes per game since Jacque Vaughn reinserted him into the starting lineup 11 games ago.

Payton is also shooting 38 percent on 8.2 attempts and 56 percent from the free-throw line, so those in rotisserie leagues are better off avoiding him. Reserve Luke Ridnour, once exiled from the rotation, averaged 17.1 minutes per game in the last four contests as coach Jacque Vaughn continues to tinker with the lineup during the Magic's six-game losing streak. With the Magic four and a half games out of the playoff picture and Jacque Vaughn's name on the chopping block, Payton may continue to see his minutes capped since he's a liability on the offensive end.

Payton fell off to seven points (3-9 FG, 1-1 FT) and seven assists in the Saturday loss to Charlotte. He added two steals in 35 minutes.

Payton was coming off a great game with 16 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists in the Friday loss to the Nets. He fell back to his season norms in the home loss to the Hornets. The rookie is handing out a nice number of assists (7.8 in his last five games), but can't be counted on for scoring.

Payton had his best game of a pro with 16 points (6-13 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-5 FT), nine rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals in 36 minutes in the loss to the Nets on Friday.

Payton was able to make shots for one of the few times in his early career and was aggressively looking for his own shot. He hit his fourth 3-pointer of the season and continued to provide staunch defense. Unfortunately, this game was more of an outlier than a trend for good things to come.

Payton had eight points (4-8 FG) and six assists but turned the ball over five times in Tuesday's loss to the Pistons.

Payton had averaged almost 31 minutes per game since being reinserted into the starting lineup on December 21, but he was limited to only 24 minutes on Tuesday due to the blowout nature of the game. While he offers next to nothing as a three-point shooter and is prone to some ugly shooting nights, Payton is an intriguing option in deeper head-to-head leagues so long as he remains the starting point guard for Orlando, as he has shown a proclivity to accumulate assists, steals and even decent rebounds for his position.

Payton posted a solid line Monday against the Heat, contributing four points, four rebounds, eight assists, and four steals in 30 minutes of action.

Payton is now averaging 8.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 2.3 steals per game over the last four contests. Meanwhile, he has managed to average a solid 46 percent from the field during that span. While he's certainly still a detriment to percentage categories, owners should take what they can get from his counting stats. As long as he is a starter, he should provide low-end standard league value.

Payton scored just one point (0-7 FG, 1-2 FT, 0-1 3Pt) in his return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Sixers. He contributed five rebounds, six assists, and one steal in 35 minutes of action.

It's no surprise that Payton's percentages are horrific, but an "0-fer" certainly doesn't help the rookie's case if he wants to maintain the starting job. On the bright side, he did contribute in other categories, but it may be tough to own him in 12-man leagues until further notice.

Payton will be in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the 76ers.

Payton has started 10 of the 29 games in which he's played this season, but he's been coming off the bench since Nov. 14. With the Magic riding a three-game losing skid, coach Jacque Vaughn will switch things up, inserting Payton into the backcourt alongside Victor Oladipo. The two are yet to start together this season and will be joined by Tobias Harris, Kyle O'Quinn and Nic Vucevic. The group has played just nine minutes together on the year.

Payton scored 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 FT) and added two rebounds, 11 assists and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Utah Jazz.

This was the first double-double for Payton of his young career. As a rookie, he is averaging 24 minutes of action and putting in 6.4 points, 4.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game. If he ever receives more minutes as he settles into the NBA he will provide owners with plenty of assists. This will come with time, but at this point he is really a low quality fantasy player for standard leagues.

Payton is averaging 7.3 points, 5.0 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in 28.4 minutes over the past six games.

Payton is also leading the Magic in fourth quarter minutes (11.6 per game) over the past six games, taking advantage of Nikola Vucevic's (back) absence with coach Jacque Vaughn fielding smaller lineups. Luke Ridnour is no longer a part of the rotation, giving Payton extended run as the backup point guard. This mini-resurgence makes Payton an interesting add in head-to-head leagues only because he's shooting 38 percent from the field and 47 percent from the free-throw line on the season.

Payton posted a solid line Sunday against the Suns, adding seven points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 27 minutes of action.

Payton has struggled mightily in his rookie season, averaging just 6.6 points per game on 39 percent shooting from the field. His inconsistency on offense cost him his starting spot, but even off the bench he's been able to log 20-plus minutes on most nights. He's averaging 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.8 steals over the last five games, and it's still hard to justify his ownership in 12-man leagues. However, if the rookie can get over the wall by Christmastime, he could certainly be a wild-card fantasy sleeper because of his ability to contribute in multiple counting categories.

Payton had nine points (4-6 FG, 1-4 FT), four assists, and five steals in the loss to the Heat on Saturday.

Payton is giving the Magic's second unit a defensive spark. He is an on-ball pest, but his lack of shooting range and in ability to hit free throws limits his fantasy value.

Payton tied his career high with 16 points (7-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-6 FT) and added five assists in 27 minutes in the comeback win over the Hornets on Friday.

Payton came on in the fourth quarter and helped bring the Magic back with eight points and four assists in the final frame. After averaging just 12.7 minutes in his previous three games, Payton took minutes away from Victor Oladipo. The rookie from Louisiana-Lafayette is going to learn how to hit free throws (46.9 percent).

Payton played just 16 minutes and had three points (1-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, and two steals as the Magic lost at Washington on Saturday.

Victor Oladipo returned to the starting lineup beside Evan Fournier. Payton came off the bench for the first time this season and will likely see only reserve minutes going forward. He will only be useful in the deepest of fantasy leagues.

Payton will come off the bench Saturday against the Wizards, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Victor Oladipo will take over as the starter at point guard in just his second game back from injury, as Payton heads to the bench after managing just two points on 1-of-7 shooting in his last two contests. Payton is shooting just 32.9 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free throw line so far this season.
