Thu Oct 5 2023 | 08:06 | Matisse Thybulle And Shaedon Sharpe Battling For Starter's Role |
The Portland Trail Blazers have a starter's spot open at the small forward position and there are two candidates for the job. Matisse Thybulle and Shaedon Sharpe are battling out for the role, according to Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian. Fentress sees Thybulle as the "likely leader" in the race. Thybulle was a starter in all 22 games he played with the Blazers last season after being picked up in a trade in early February. He offers great balance to the unit as a good defensive presence and played well, averaging 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.7 steals. Sharpe had 15 outings as a starter and collected 18.5 points with 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in the role. He had a much bigger part to play offensively and racked up his numbers with nearly 16 shot attempts per game. However, even with Damian Lillard gone, Portland still has plenty of offensive weapons to choose from, so using Thybulle with the starters appears to make the most sense. |

Thu Sep 28 2023 | 06:00 | Fantasy Basketball Instant Reaction: Damian Lillard Trade |
Well, it finally happened. For the first time in 11 years, Damian Lillard is no longer a Trailblazer. On Wednesday, the nearly three-month saga that held NBA news hostage all summer came to an abrupt halt after Lillard was astonishingly acquired by the Milwaukee Bucks. It was a blockbuster three-team deal that included the Phoenix Suns, nine total players, one first-round pick, and one pick swap. Here is the full breakdown of the trade and my analysis of how it will affect the NBA in 2023-2024 and fantasy basketball.  The TradeThe Bucks receive - Damian LillardThe Blazers receive - Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, Bucks' 2029 first-round pick, Bucks' pick swapThe Suns receive - Jusuf Nurkic, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson, ... Thu Jul 6 2023 | 17:53 | Blazers Matching Offer Sheet On Matisse Thybulle |
The Portland Trail Blazers are matching the three year, $33 million offer sheet for restricted free agent Matisse Thybulle. The Blazers didn't waste much time matching the offer sheet offered by the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday. The 26-year-old saw an expanded role with the Blazers after being acquired in February. He averaged 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in 27.7 minutes per game in 22 games with the Blazers. Thybulle is a solid contributor on defense and is getting better on the offensive side of the ball. It's not surprising to see the Blazers match the offer sheet here. |

Wed Jul 5 2023 | 18:12 | Matisse Thybulle Intends To Sign Offer Sheet With Mavericks |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Matisse Thybulle hasn't been rumored to have much interest outside of just one team. According to Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report, the 26-year-old defensive stalwart intends to sign an offer sheet with the Dallas Mavericks. The Blazers still have the right to match the offer, but there haven't been any rumblings just yet that they will be willing to. He showed some more confidence shooting threes while in Portland, but didn't contribute to many wins as he saw a lot of his time while they were tanking. He does bring some much-needed defense on the wing for Dallas. |

Sun Jul 2 2023 | 23:35 | Mavericks Showing Interest In Matisse Thybulle |
Portland Trail Blazers forward Matisse Thybulle is starting to gain some traction despite being a restricted free agent. According to Marc Stein, the Dallas Mavericks are one team showing interest in the defensive specialist. After being traded to the Blazers, the 26-year-old saw an increase in his minutes and started in all 22 games for the team after starting in just six out of 49 games for the 76ers. Thybulle would likely continue his same role for the Mavericks but would see a decrease in opportunities. With that being said, he could still be valuable in deeper leagues since he puts up very good defensive numbers. |

Thu Apr 6 2023 | 15:28 | Matisse Thybulle Considered Doubtful Thursday |
Portland Trail Blazers guard/forward Matisse Thybulle (knee) looks set to miss a second straight game Thursday against San Antonio, with the team regarding him as doubtful for the matchup. Thybulle has emerged as a good source for peripheral stats for fantasy managers late in the season, but with him now having trouble with his right knee, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team shut him down for the year, as Portland has nothing left to play for. Thybulle's absence gives Kevin Knox III and Jeenathan Williams a chance to see extended minutes. |

Fri Feb 10 2023 | 13:15 | 2023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts |
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.  Moves That MatterThese are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career. Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [ More] |
Thu Feb 9 2023 | 14:09 | Matisse Thybulle Joins Portland |
The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired guard/forward Matisse Thybulle from the Philadelphia 76ers. The 25-year-old will hope to get a fresh start after playing a very marginal role this season for the team that drafted him in 2019. Thybulle has previously been highly valued as a defensive specialist on the team, but he has averaged a career-low 12.1 minutes in 2022-23. Portland has just departed with a starter in Josh Hart and Thybulle will have a chance to earn himself a much bigger role at his new club, which would greatly boost his fantasy appeal. |

Fri Nov 25 2022 | 11:43 | Matisse Thybulle Won't Play Against Orlando |
Philadelphia 76ers forward Matisse Thybulle (ankle) will not suit up on Friday after missing the team's last game and being forced to exit the last couple of games that he did play. When he first suffered the ankle injury, it didn't seem like it would hold him out too long. The pain has been lingering and the Sixers will let him get some rest. Thybulle was only relevant in very deep leagues. Danuel House Jr. may get a little more time while he's out, but his absence won't significantly boost anyone. |

Wed Nov 2 2022 | 21:51 | Matisse Thybulle Suffers Injury On Wednesday |
Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle (ankle) picked up an injury during Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards. The young guard was expected to have an increased workload with the team shorthanded. However, Thybulle only lasted 16 minutes due to a sprained ankle. Thybulle has strong upside on defense, but has been buried on the depth chart this season. He looks more like a deep league option right now. Hopefully this ankle injury won't cost him significant time. |

Wed Jun 29 2022 | 14:20 | Matisse Thybulle Drawing Interest From Mavericks, Blazers |
Philadelphia 76ers guard/forward Matisse Thybulle has been the center of trade speculation lately as the 76ers are in the midst of figuring out their plan for the next season. On Wednesday, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report gave an update on the 76ers' offseason approach, saying that the team is "still exploring various trade options to free financial flexibility." He stated that the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers have emerged as the top suitors for Thybulle. Moving Thybulle could help free up cap space and a rotation spot for a more well-rounded veteran to land in Philly. While Thybulle has been a stud on the defensive end, he's also been an offensive liability as he averaged just 5.7 points over 25.5 minutes per game last year. |

Mon May 23 2022 | 21:41 | Matisse Thybulle Could Be Moved For The Right Deal |
Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle could be traded over the summer. However, the front office will only look to move the 25-year-old to upgrade the roster and not to get out from underneath his current deal. Thybulle is widely considered one of the best defenders in the league, finishing the 2021-22 season by averaging nearly two steals per game. With Danny Green (knee) uncertain to remain in Philadelphia, the team will certainly need to keep Thybulle, especially since moving him won't do much from a fiscal standpoint. However, fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to be a consistent producer, though that could change if he picks things up on the offensive end this year. |

Wed May 11 2022 | 23:43 | Matisse Thybulle Questionable Against Miami |
Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle (foot) is questionable ahead of Thursday's playoff battle against Miami. The 25-year-old is dealing with a sore left foot. However, considering he's averaged just 2.8 points during the series, he likely won't draw much interest from DFS managers if he plays. However, Thybulle is a menace on the defensive end, so if he's out, guys like Tyler Herro, Max Strus, Victor Oladipo, and Gabe Vincent will benefit. |

Wed May 11 2022 | 21:38 | Matisse Thybulle Tagged As Questionable For Game 6 |
Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle (foot) is listed as questionable for Thursday's Game 6 matchup against the Miami Heat. Thybulle has been solid on defense, but doesn't bring much to the table on the offensive side. He is averaging 2.8 points per game during the postseason. His defensive stats are also down, which means Thybulle won't be a great DFS option even if he suits up. |

Fri Apr 22 2022 | 20:14 | Matisse Thybulle Out For Game 4 |
Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle won't play in Saturday's postseason bout versus the Toronto Raptors. The 25-year-old hasn't received a full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, so he's not permitted to enter Canada. As a result, Danny Green, who played 46 minutes and finished with nine points, seven boards, and two steals during the Sixers' Game 3 overtime win, should continue to roll with the starting lineup in Game 4. |

Wed Apr 6 2022 | 19:18 | Matisse Thybulle Will Miss Thursday’s Contest |
Philadelphia 76ers small/power forward Matisse Thybulle has been ruled out for Thursday's game at Toronto. It's unclear why Thybulle would be prevented from traveling with the team, but Canada does require players traveling from America to be fully vaccinated, including relevant booster shots, against COVID-19. An integral cog in the Sixers defense, the absence of Thybulle would likely allow Furkan Korkmaz, Isaiah Joeand Danny Green to see elevated workloads. Fantasy managers who utilize Thybulle for his steals (1.8 per game) can expect him back on the floor Saturday vs. the Pacers. |

Tue Feb 8 2022 | 18:37 | Matisse Thybulle Returns To The Starting Five |
Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard/small forward Matisse Thybulle (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup for the team's matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Thybulle missed two straight games due to right shoulder soreness. With his return, Furkan Korkmaz and Isaiah Joe are likely to see their minutes decreased. Thybulle has been a menace on the defensive end of the floor this year, averaging 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. His offense is still a work in progress as he's only averaging 5.7 points per game over 26.3 minutes per contest. On the bright side, his field goal percentage is up from 42% last year to 48.7% this year. |

Mon Feb 7 2022 | 21:40 | Matisse Thybulle Listed As Questionable For Tuesday |
Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Matisse Thybulle (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Phoenix Suns. The defensive specialist is dealing with right shoulder soreness. He was forced to sit out the team's most recent game on Sunday against the Chicago Bulls. Fellow shooting guard Furkan Korkmaz went on to see extra playing time in Thybulle's absence, but didn't do much in his 17 minutes, scoring nine points on 3-of-8 shooting. Thybulle is shooting 49.7% from the field this year, a distant career-high, but he's still only averaging 5.7 points per game. His fantasy value comes almost exclusively on the defensive end as he's averaging 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. |

Sun Feb 6 2022 | 00:01 | Matisse Thybulle Dealing With Shoulder Soreness |
Philadelphia 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle (shoulder) is questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup in Chicago. He's currently dealing with soreness in his right shoulder, and with Furkan Korkmaz (knee) carrying the same designation, Danny Green and Isaiah Joe may see some more work against the Bulls, although Green should be the preferred fantasy option between the two. |

Tue Jan 25 2022 | 18:51 | Matisse Thybulle Returns On Tuesday |
Philadelphia 76ers forward Matisse Thybulle (shoulder) will return for Tuesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. He had missed each of the last five games while dealing with a sprained right shoulder. The Sixers certainly missed his defense and Thybulle will have a great chance to make an impact on Tuesday. The Pelicans are banged up due to injuries, so possibly Thybulle takes advantage of that and adds more offense to his game. Regardless, fantasy managers can get him back in their lineups for Tuesday's slate. |
