Tue Aug 8 202312:02Pete Alonso Goes Deep Twice In Rout Of Cubs
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso led the way in the team's 11-2 dismantling of the visiting Chicago Cubs on Monday night by going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a career-high-tying six RBI and two runs scored. The 28-year-old slugger got going right away with a three-run bomb in the first inning, and the Mets never looked back. The multi-homer game was the fourth of the year for Alonso, and he now ranks third in the big leagues in home runs (33) and RBI (83). He's hitting just .225 (87-for-386) with a .317 on-base percentage, but most fantasy managers are completely fine sacrificing a low batting average for the game-changing type of power that he possesses. Alonso will remain a must-start in fantasy lineups the rest of the way.

Tue Aug 1 202313:58Mets Not Interested In Trading Pete Alonso
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is not expected to be traded ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. A recurring All-Star and Home Run Derby contestant, Alonso is slashing .218/.314/.506 with 30 homers, 9.2% walk rate, and 20.7% strikeout rate this season. He has produced 10.7 oWAR and would likely fetch a solid return if the Mets were to trade him. However, barring something unforeseen, Alonso will remain with New York for the rest of the season. He's under contract with the club for next year, too, and will hit free agency prior to the 2025 campaign. Regardless of what team Alonso is on, his power makes him a high-end option in fantasy baseball.

Sat Jul 29 202300:51Pete Alonso Heating Up, Bashes Two Homers In Win
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI in Friday's 5-1 win over the Washington Nationals. The 28-year-old shouldered the offensive load in this one, accounting for all of New York's scoring. Alonso began the contest 0-for-2 before his towering fifth-inning three-run blast would get the Mets on the board. The slugger then cracked another two-run big fly in the seventh frame to notch his second two-homer, five-RBI effort of the week after doing so also on Tuesday. Alonso had been scuffling at the plate in a big way since returning from the injured list with a left wrist sprain on June 18, but he's finally starting to pick it up. Over Alonso's last seven outings, the three-time All-Star is hitting .423 (11-for-26) with four round-trippers and 10 RBI.

Mon Jul 17 202309:51Pete Alonso Continues To Struggle
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is having a tough time at the plate right now. Alonso got to a hot start, but has struggled at the plate since the end of May. On Sunday, Alonso went 0-for-4 in what ended up being a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Alonso is now 1-for-20 over his last six games with an OPS below .800 right now. He remains fifth in the majors with 26 home runs, so that's about the only fantasy value he's providing right now.

Mon Jul 3 202314:29Pete Alonso To Appear In Home Run Derby
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, who entered Sunday's action against the San Francisco Giants in third in the majors in home runs with 25, will take part in his fourth Home Run Derby in his five years in the big leagues in Seattle next week. Alonso also leads the Mets in RBI with 58. The 28-year-old right-handed slugger will be attempting to win his third Home Run Derby crown next week, which would tie him with Ken Griffey Jr. as the only three-time winners of the event. Alonso had a bad month of June at the plate, going 10-for-66 (.152), and he's hitting only .221 (62-for-281) on the season. He remains one of the elite sluggers in the game, though, and he ranks fifth on the team's all-time list in home runs with 171 and is 12th in franchise history with 438 RBI.

Mon Jul 3 202309:38Pete Alonso Blasts Home Run In Victory
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso showed off his power during Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants. The right-handed slugger blasted a two-run shot in the eighth inning to help seal the victory for the Mets. The 28-year-old finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI in the 8-4 win. He also announced that he plans on participating in the upcoming Home Run Derby in Seattle this month. It's always entertaining watching Alonso swing for the fences. He's slashing .221/.316/.520 to go with his 25 homers and 58 RBI this season.

Mon Jun 26 202314:01Pete Alonso Clubs 24th Homer In Loss
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's dramatic 7-6 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The 28-year-old swatted a Jose Alvarado heater into the opposite-field seats during the seventh inning for his 24th big fly of the season. Alonso's big bat has helped prevent New York's tumultuous season from completely derailing in 2023. After recently missing some time with an injured wrist, the two-time HR Derby champion has fallen behind Matt Olson as the NL home run leader. Even so, Alonso is slashing a powerful .226/.318/.537 with 24 long balls, 55 RBI, and two stolen bases across 292 trips to the plate this year.

Sun Jun 18 202312:10Pete Alonso Back From Injured List
The New York Mets reinstated first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) from the 10-day injured list on Sunday and optioned infielder Mark Vientos to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. It's a nice surprise for Alonso's fantasy managers on Father's Day. The 28-year-old right-handed slugger is starting at first base and is hitting cleanup against St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Matthew Liberatore. Alonso is returning from a bone bruise and left-wrist sprain that landed him on the IL on June 8, but he missed the minimal time. Despite the missed time, he still leads the league with 22 home runs and also has 49 RBI and an .872 OPS in 62 games played. Fantasy managers will want to get Alonso back in their starting lineups in all leagues immediately.

Fri Jun 16 202321:29Pete Alonso Hitting In The Cage
According to Mets manager Buck Showalter, first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) hit in the cage on Thursday. The 28-year-old has 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 62 games this season. Unfortunately, he suffered a bone bruise and sprain in his left wrist during a game against Atlanta, which is expected to keep him out for up to four weeks. That said, Alonso is moving in a favorable direction, especially since he was observed taking ground balls on Tuesday, so hopefully, he'll be back as soon as possible. But in the meantime, fantasy managers should keep him stashed.

Tue Jun 13 202316:25Pete Alonso Taking Grounders Tuesday
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) is taking ground balls at first base on Tuesday. Alonso is on the injured list with a bone bruise and sprain in his left wrist, but he's already doing baseball activities. He is expected to miss three to four weeks, but fantasy managers have to be happy with the fact that he looks like he's already on track for a quick recovery. The 28-year-old All-Star has been one of the few bright spots for the disappointing Mets in 2023 and still leads the league with 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 62 games despite hitting only .231 (53-for-229). Keep Alonso stashed in all fantasy formats. Mark Canha and Mark Vientos should continue to keep splitting playing time at the cold corner in New York until Alonso returns from his injury.

Fri Jun 9 202316:51Pete Alonso Expected To Miss 3-4 Weeks
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) was diagnosed with a bone bruise and a sprain of his left wrist, and he was officially placed on the injured list on Friday. A typical return to play for this type of injury is roughly three to four weeks, so fantasy managers will need to make due without the elite power hitter for a little bit. Alonso suffered the injury on Wednesday when he was hit by a pitch against the Atlanta Braves. The 28-year-old right-handed slugger had been one of the team's few bright spots in a disappointing season to this point. He's currently batting .231 (53-for-229) with four doubles and a triple while leading the league in homers (22) and RBI (49) in 62 games. Mark Vientos started at first base on Thursday, but Mark Canha will man the cold corner on Friday for the Mets.

Fri Jun 9 202309:20Pete Alonso Likely To Miss Time
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) will likely hit the injured list, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, and could miss a few weeks of action. The slugger was out of the lineup for Thursday's loss to the Atlanta Braves after he exited Wednesday's contest following a hit by a pitch to the wrist. This is a tough blow for fantasy managers, as Alonso is one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball and is slashing .231/.326/.546 with a league-leading 22 bombs, 41 runs, 49 RBI, and a pair of steals across 62 games. Mark Vientos could see more time at first in the 28-year-old's absence. The second-year player is only batting .162 over 13 games, but he posted a .333 average and 1.104 OPS with 13 homers through 38 games at Triple-A, making a decent buy-low bat.

Thu Jun 8 202321:57Pete Alonso Heads Back To New York For More Tests
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) returned home for further testing on Thursday. After taking a pitch to the left wrist, the slugger exited Wednesday's game versus the Braves. He had a CT scan in Atlanta on Thursday morning. However, skipper Buck Showalter said Alonso returned to New York to "have our people look at it." At any rate, Showalter's comment doesn't sit well with fantasy managers, who were originally expecting Alonso to miss a few games. But now it appears things could be much worse, which isn't ideal, considering the 28-year-old has 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 2023.

Thu Jun 8 202316:05Pete Alonso Sitting On Thursday Against Atlanta
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the Atlanta Braves. Alonso was forced from Wednesday's contest early after being hit in the wrist by a fastball in the first inning, but thankfully, X-rays came back negative and he's day-to-day with a contusion. The 28-year-old right-handed slugger dodged a bullet and could be back in the lineup as early as Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In his absence Thursday, Mark Vientos is getting the start at the cold corner and is hitting ninth in the batting order against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Alonso is a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's active, as he currently leads baseball with 22 home runs and 49 RBI in 261 trips to the plate over 62 games played.

Wed Jun 7 202321:00Pete Alonso Day-To-Day After Being Hit By Pitch
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) was forced to leave Wednesday's game early against the Atlanta Braves after getting hit by a 97 mph fastball on the left wrist. Thankfully for the Mets and fantasy managers, Alonso's X-rays came back negative, and he's being considered day-to-day with a left-wrist contusion. Fantasy managers can let out a sigh of relief after the injury scare, but don't be surprised if the Polar Bear isn't in the lineup for the series finale against Atlanta on Thursday. Alonso didn't have an official at-bat in the game. The 28-year-old two-time All-Star entered the day with a .231 average (53-for-229) with four doubles, a triple, a league-high 22 home runs and a league-high 49 RBI in 61 games played. Alonso is a must-start anytime he's active.

Fri May 26 202301:33Pete Alonso Swats 19th HR Of The Season
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, two walks, and a stolen base in a resounding 10-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. The Mets pounded the Cubs in this one and Alonso stayed hot. He reached base in all four of his plate appearances and even swiped his first bag of the year. He also bopped his league-leading 19th home run of the season in the seventh inning off of Michael Rucker. Alonso has now homered six times in the last nine contests and has his season batting line up to .239/.341/.559 to go along with 19 home runs and 45 RBI across 188 at-bats.

Wed May 17 202300:36Pete Alonso Hits 14th Homer Tuesday
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Rays. Alonso crushed a seventh-inning Yonny Chirinos offering just down the left-field line for his 14th long ball of the season. The 28-year-old has not hit for average but has hit for plenty of power, slashing .233/.333/.516 with 33 RBI. Fantasy managers have come to expect a better batting average from Alonso based on his performance in the last two seasons, but there is really not much they can complain about given his elite power.

Sat May 6 202322:27Pete Alonso Knocks In A Run In Defeat
New York Mets first baseman/designated hitter Pete Alonso went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Alonso drove in one of the Mets' two runs in the bottom of the first with an RBI groundout. New York didn't have much of an answer for Austin Gomber, as shocking as that sounds. Through his first 129 at-bats of the year, Alonso is slashing .240/.315/.519 to go along with 11 long balls and 29 RBI. While the batting average (career .260) and OBP ( career .347) are below what we've come to expect from the 28-year-old, the power has been there through the first month or so of the season.
