Fri Apr 21 202308:25Pete Alonso Continues Offensive Surge
New York Mets' first baseman Pete Alonso continues to thrive at the plate, as he drove in four runs in the Mets' 9-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Alonso cranked his ninth homer of the year and currently leads the majors. The Polar Bear is fourth in the majors in RBI (19) and owns a 1.024 OPS. Over the past 15 games, the first baseman is slashing .322/.394/.729 with eight home runs and 17 RBI. It will be quite difficult to shatter his 53-homer rookie season in 2019, but Alonso is certainly on track, considering that he's paced for 72 home runs. With the Mets beginning to pick things up, it's quite imperative that Alonso's bat stays hot. On the year, the 28-year-old is hitting .286/.375/.649 with a .433 wOBA and 175 wRC+.

The 28-year-old slugger was rather quiet in the WBC, but he'll return to a .286 average (6-for-21) with three home runs, four RBI and five runs scored in eight games in Grapefruit League play. Alonso remains an elite power option in fantasy leagues, and he's ranked as RotoBaller's No. 3 fantasy first baseman, behind only Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Freddie Freeman.

Wed Mar 15 202321:23Pete Alonso Hitless In WBC Play
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso goes into Wednesday night 0-for-5 in the World Baseball Classic for Team USA. Alonso has started one game as the designated hitter for the US, going 0-for-4 against Mexico. He had a pinch-hit appearance against Canada on Monday and came up without a hit again. The Polar Bear will get the start Wednesday vs. Colombia and will hit fifth in the lineup. Alonso is coming off a season where he hit 40 homers and drove in a league-leading 130 runs while batting .271, so nothing should be taken from this small sample size. Alonso is currently going 18.3 in drafts and should be one of the earliest first basemen off the board in drafts.

As such, he is considered day-to-day for the time being. New York Mets' first baseman Pete Alonso (hand) exited Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres after being hit in the right hand with a pitch. Alonso's 11th homer came as part of a five-run third inning off starter Alex Cobb. With 40 RBI in just 44 games, there aren't many more prolific run producers out there, even if his slash line of .339/.418/.678 in 66 plate appearances over his last 15 games is bound to settle down in short order.

Wed Apr 27 202210:53Pete Alonso In The Lineup Against Cardinals
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (head) is back at first base and is hitting cleanup on Wednesday against St. Louis Cardinals left-hander Steven Matz. Alonso was hit in the head by a pitch on Tuesday in St. Louis, but he did not have to leave the game and passed the league's concussion protocol overnight. The power-hitting first baseman went 0-for-3 in the game on Tuesday, but he's hitting .257 with three home runs, 16 RBI and nine runs scored in his first 82 plate appearances of the season. Fantasy managers mainly drafted Alonso for his power, but he hasn't cleared the fences since April 17 at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Despite the recent power drought, Alonso should be in all starting lineups in redraft leagues on Wednesday.

Wed Apr 27 202209:36Pete Alonso On Nine-Game Homer Drought
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has been regularly getting on base over the past few weeks, but he hasn't been producing much power lately. He has no home runs and no extra-base hits over his last nine games. The 27-year-old is slashing .257/.305/.419 over 19 games on the year. He homered three times over his first 10 games, so his home run pace isn't looking terrible quite yet. He currently has a 12.5% HR/FB rate, which is nearly half of his career HR/FB rate, 24.2%. Some of his underlying power metrics are a bit down from last year, but they will likely all normalize once the sample size gets bigger. Expect the 6'3" slugger to start racking up more home runs soon.

Sat Apr 16 202211:09Pete Alonso Continues Hot Start To 2022
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso drove in two runs in the Mets' 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks in the Mets' home opener on Friday. Both RBI came courtesy of sacrifice flies as Alonso went 0-for-1 at the plate with a walk, despite five plate appearances on the afternoon. Alonso is slashing .258/.324/.548 with two homers and 12 RBI on the young season and is poised to have a big year. Alonso should see positive regression in power totals from 2021 and should likely break the 40 HR mark and eclipse the 100 RBI plateau due to the addition of outfielders Starling Marte and Mark Canha to the Mets. A likely bounce-back campaign from shortstop Francisco Lindor, which appears to have already started, should also help Alonso to bolster his counting stats.
