Fri Apr 23 201008:57Tigers place Guillen (hamstring) on 15-day DL
Tigers placed DH Carlos Guillen on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Guillen suffered the injury while rounding third base in the fifth inning of Thursday's game. He was batting .311/.391/.443 with one home run and eight RBI to begin the season. Brennan Boesch will take his place on the roster and should see plenty of at-bats against right-handers in the interim. The right-handed Ryan Raburn figures to play against left-handers.
Fri Apr 23 201002:26Tigers' Guillen lands on DL, Boesch recalled
The Tigers said after Thursday's game that they'd place Carlos Guillen on the DL with a strained left hamstring and promote Brennan Boesch from Triple-A Toledo.
As Toledo's hottest hitter in the early going, Boesch seems like the obvious choice to step in. The left-handed hitter was batting .352/.426/.593 in 54 at-bats. He'll probably get a chance to start against righties for now, so he should be picked up in AL-only leagues. Ryan Raburn will play versus lefties.

Thu Apr 22 201023:51Tigers' Guillen leaves with hamstring injury
Carlos Guillen left Thursday's game in the fifth inning with an apparent right hamstring injury.
Guillen came up lame rounding third base on his way home in the top of the fifth. He fell to the ground and walked off the field very gingerly, suggesting that this could be a DL-type situation. If that happens, then the Tigers might call up Brennan Boesch to share time with Ryan Raburn.
Tue Apr 13 201016:21Guillen knocks in two runs in Tigers' win
Carlos Guillen doubled in two runs Tuesday to help the Tigers edge the Royals 6-5.
The Royals were up 5-0 headed to the bottom of the seventh, when Brian Bannister, Roman Colon, Dusty Hughes and Juan Cruz combined to give up six runs. Guillen's double drove in the game-tying and go-ahead runs and ended the scoring for the day. He has five hits and four RBI in his last three games.
