Pelfrey lost his fourth game Tuesday against the White Sox as he allowed three runs on 10 hits and three walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out four.
Pelfrey was a ground ball machine again, inducing 13, but they found the holes too often Tuesday night. He has six quality starts in his last seven outings but has struck out over five batters just once in that span. His ERA rose to 3.06.

Pelfrey was fantastic Thursday, allowing just one run over eight innings while striking out four, but he received no decision in a 2-1 win over the Cardinals.
Pelfrey allowed only four hits in the game, one of then a mistake pitch to Jason Heyward that was deposited into the right-field bleachers. After an eight-run disaster against the Rangers last weekend, it seemed like Pelfrey was headed for some tough sailing, but he bounced right back. That one awful outing is the only time Pelfrey's lasted less than six innings or given up more than one run in his lat six starts. He'll look to keep the good times going against the struggling White Sox on Tuesday.

Pelfrey got rocked for eight runs on 11 hits and three walks in just 3.2 innings Saturday. He failed to strike out a batter.
The 2.28 ERA he carried into the game was unsustainable given his poor K/9 and K/BB ratios, but Saturday's disaster is still a tough pill to swallow if you were gambling on Pelfrey's luck lasting just a little bit longer. The Twins haven't yet confirmed their rotation for next week, but his next start will likely come on Thursday, at home against the Cardinals.

Pelfrey threw eight scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks to improve to 5-2 in Sunday's win over Milwaukee.
Pelfrey continues to roll as he's given up just three runs in his last 28.0 innings (0.96 ERA) over four starts. However, he has just a 4.5 K/9 overall. Still, Sunday's seven strikeouts are encouraging.

Pelfrey (4-2) allowed one run on six hits and two walks over seven innings in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Boston.
Although he took the loss on Tuesday, Pelfrey surrendered one run over seven innings against the Red Sox for the second straight game. He has only allowed three runs allowed over his last 20 innings to lower his ERA to 2.59. He faces Milwaukee in his next start on Sunday.
Mon Jun 1 201518:40Pelfrey will start Tuesday's game
Pelfrey will start Tuesday's game, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Monday's game was postponed, so, as expected, Pelfrey will simply have his start pushed back a day. The Twins are yet to announce their pitching plans beyond Tuesday, but Pelfrey would appear to be on course to start Sunday, as well, when the Twins play host to Milwaukee.

Monday's game between the Twins and Red Sox has been postponed, so Pelfrey will not start Monday as scheduled.
Monday's game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday, and Pelfrey figures to have his start simply pushed back to Tuesday. While he will not go Monday as expected, he should still get two starts this week -- Tuesday in Boston and Sunday at home against the Brewers.

Pelfrey gave up just one run on five hits in seven innings of work on Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Pelfrey earned his fourth win of the season on Tuesday, walking one batter and striking out four. He's now 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA and has been very solid for the Twins up to this point. He'll get the Blue Jays at home in his next start.

Pelfrey turned in six strong innings Wednesday against Pittsburgh, striking out five with no walks (though he did hit a batter) while allowing just one run on five hits.
He received no decision, as this game ended up needing 13 innings to be resolved. This was probably Pelfrey's strongest outing of the year, but it's hard to count on him keeping it up -- a 4.49 FIP puts the lie to his even 3.00 ERA, with Pelfrey's high-contact ways and unimpressive control likely to come back and bite him more often moving forward. His next start will be against Boston on Tuesday.

Pelfrey (3-1) was battered for 10 hits, five runs (four earned) and two walks over 4.2 innings in Thursday's blowout loss to Detroit.
If you looked at Pelfrey's numbers coming into Thursday's game -- a horrendous 16:13 K:BB next to his surprising 2.62 ERA and 1.22 WHIP -- you knew the other shoe was going to drop at some point, and sooner rather than later. Indeed it did, and if his 4.89 FIP is any indicator, Pelfrey's due to take a few more licks before his stats normalize. He's slated to face the Pirates on Wednesday.

Pelfrey allowed two runs on six hits, walking two and recording no strikeouts over seven innings of a 9-3 victory against the Indians on Friday night.
Pelfrey (3-0, 2.62 ERA) has been a pleasant surprise for the Twins this season. He has turned in solid performances in four of five starts, and while he doesn't ring up many strikeouts, he is pushing to become fantasy relevant while taking a regular turn for the red-hot Twins.

Pelfrey gave up just two runs, but lasted just 3.1 innings in Sunday's win over the White Sox. He was staked to a 7-0 lead, but was pulled in the fourth inning after hitting three batters.
Pelfrey seemed set to record an easy win before losing command with two walks and three hit batters. Pelfrey seemed set to turn his career around with three strong outings before Sunday, so we'll need to see how he bounces back.

Pelfrey gave up two runs over seven innings with seven strikeouts, two walks and three hits in Tuesday's win over Detroit to improve to 2-0.
It was an impressive outing as Pelfrey had just seven strikeouts in his first 17 innings before Tuesday. Pelfrey is healthier now than he's ever been with the Twins (he had elbow surgery last season and in 2014 was coming back from Tommy John surgery), so it's possible he's turned the corner. However, we'd like to see another outing or two like this before we're convinced.

Pelfrey threw seven shutout innings in Wednesday's victory over Kansas City to earn his first win since 2013. He had four strikeouts and two walks and lowered his ERA to 2.65.
Pelfrey had been 5-16 with a 5.56 ERA his prior two seasons with the Twins. While he's healthier now than he's ever been with the Twins (he had elbow surgery last season and in 2014 was coming back from Tommy John surgery), there are still some worrisome signs. He has just a 7:8 K:BB ratio in 17 innings in three starts, so proceed with caution on his fantasy value.

Pelfrey gave up one run over five innings, but got a no-decision in Friday's win over Cleveland. He allowed just three hits but had four walks and two strikeouts.
Pelfrey retired nine of the first 10 hitters he faced, but then walked three in the fourth inning and was bailed out by a play at the plate to prevent more than one run to score. While his second start was better than his first (4 ER) he has an ungly 4:5 K:BB ratio in ten innings.

Pelfrey will move into the stating rotation with Ervin Santana suspended 80 games for testing positive for an anobolic steroid, ESPN 1500 am Twin Cities reports.
Pelfrey had lost out on the fifth starter role to Tommy Milone, but will now likely get an extended trial in the rotation with Santana out until mid-season.

Pelfrey lost out on the Twins' fifth starter role and will open the season in the bullpen, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
The starting gig ultimately went to Tommy Milone, likely forcing Pelfrey to see spot duty as the long man out of the bullpen. Pelfrey has posted better-than-expected results this spring, but his ghastly numbers over the previous two seasons might have worked against him in the competition.
Wed Mar 25 201517:27Pelfrey may not get another start this spring
Pelfrey may not get another start this spring, which could indicate he's fallen behind Tommy Milone and Trevor May in the battle for the fifth starter role, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. He is a candidate to be used in the bullpen if not in the rotation, Twins GM Terry Ryan told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Nothing is official but it sounds like Pelfrey is headed to the bullpen and will work in long relief. The Twins had previously said he wasn't a candidate for the bullpen since it takes him time to get loose. He's had a strong spring with a 1.32 ERA and 7:2 K:BB ratio in 13.2 innings.

Pelfrey gave up two runs (one earned) and seven hits over 4.2 innings in Monday's spring training loss to the Phillies. He has a 1.32 ERA this spring and remains in the fifth starter battle with Tommy Milone and Trevor May, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
It may have been Pelfrey's worst outing of the spring, but the battle between the three starters is too close to call. Pelfrey may have an advantage in that he's not seen as a candidate for the bullpen, while Milone could move to relief. Milone could have an edge as he'd give the Twins a lefty in the rotation.

Tommy Milone and Pelfrey have emerged as the top candidates for Minnesota's fifth starter job, MLB.com reports.
Alex Meyer was sent to minor league camp Friday and Tim Stauffer was sent to the bullpen. Trevor May is also in the mix, but he's seen behind since he could be optioned to the minors. Pelfrey is in the final year of a two-year, $11 million contract which could work in his favor. Pelfrey has give up just one run in nine innings this spring. Pelfrey struggled last season with a 7.99 ERA and just a 10:18 K:BB ratio in 23.2 innings before he was shut down with a sore elbow that eventually required surgery. Even if he wins the job, his meager strikeout rate (career 5.2 K/9) would appear to limit his upside.
