Alfredo Aceves (back) threw about 30 pitches off flat ground at about 70 percent intensity on Tuesday.
Aceves also threw off flat ground over the weekend and hasn't felt any pain in his lower back. It's a great sign, but there's still no indication of when he will be able to go out on a minor league rehab assignment.

Alfredo Aceves (back) who hadn't thrown since being placed on the disabled list on May 12, threw from flat ground with no pain on Sunday.
Aceves seems to have successfully avoided back surgery for now, and while throwing without pain is a good sign, he's still a long way from rejoining the Yankees' bullpen. Aceves to The Journal News that he might throw again tomorrow, so we'll see how he feels after back-to-back days of throwing. Aceves was 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP in 10 games for the Yankees before going on the DL.

Alfredo Aceves (back) has not thrown since being placed on the disabled list on May 12.
The Yankees are still hopeful that Aceves can avoid surgery, but that hope must be beginning to wane. Manager Joe Girardi told the New York Post that Aceves was doing stabilization exercises, but was not throwing. Even if the righty can avoid surgery, he's still a long way from rejoining the Yankees' bullpen.

Alfredo Aceves "may not be throwing for a while" due to back soreness, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
Aceves met with the Yankees' medical team on Wednesday but no conclusions have been reached as to what is truly ailing him. "The fact that he's not throwing for awhile clues us in that it's not going to be right away," manager Joe Girardi said Tuesday. He was placed on the DL on May 12.

Alfredo Aceves (back) felt more pain while throwing off flat ground in Tampa on Tuesday.
He could head back to New York for additional tests. Aceves has been on the disabled list since May 12 due to a bulging disk in his lower back. He was on track to return in early June, but that timetable now seems in doubt.

Alfred Aceves, who received a cortisone shot in his ailing back last week, is now back to throwing off flat ground.
Aceves is expected to jump-start his rehab this week, possibly with a bullpen session by Wednesday or Thursday. The right-hander was placed on the disabled list on May 12 with a bulging disk in his lower back and is hoping for an early-June return to the Yankees' bullpen corps.

Despite leaving Saturday's game with an apparent back injury, Alfredo Aceves is not expected to need a stay on the disabled list.
Aceves' injury is being described more as stiffness than as pain, but he told the New York Daily News that they weren't going to push it. "I think we're going to take two-three days just to make sure that it doesn't get worse," he said. Aceves will be reevaluated Sunday. ÿ
