Sat Aug 6 201109:41Chris Heisey could be DL-bound
The Reds could place Chris Heisey (oblique) on the disabled list before Saturday's game.
Heisey was able to pinch-run in Friday's game, but right now that's all he's able to do. "We'll see how he feels (Saturday)," manager Dusty Baker said. "He can't hit and he can't throw." Juan Francisco and Dave Sappelt would be candidates for a promotion should Heisey land on the DL.

Tue Jul 26 201119:19Heisey (shoulder) in lineup Tuesday
Chris Heisey (shoulder) will make the start in left field Tuesday against the Mets after the trade of Jonny Gomes.
Gomes was traded to the Nationals on Tuesday, but this isn't necessarily good news Heisey. Yonder Alonso will replace Gomes on the active roster and is likely to see significant playing time in left field.

Chris Heisey (shoulder) underwent an MRI on his shoulder following Sunday's game.
Heisey collided with Drew Stubbs while chasing after a fly ball in the ninth inning of Sunday's win over the Braves. Though he's not in the lineup Monday, his shoulder apparently checked out OK.

Fri Jun 24 201114:30Heisey starting again on Friday
Chris Heisey is starting in left field and leading off for the Reds against the Orioles on Friday.
Tonight will be Heisey's eighth start in 10 games going back to June 13. Maybe Reds manager Dusty Baker is finally starting to agree with a fanbase and fantasy community that has been clamoring for more playing time for Heisey for some time now. The man he's attempting to steal playing time away from, Jonny Gomes, is starting at designated hitter this evening.

Wed Jun 22 201122:22Heisey's three HRs help Reds avoid sweep
Chris Heisey lit up the Yankees on Wednesday evening, homering three times while picking up five RBI in a 10-2 Reds victory.
The win helped the Reds salvage a split of the teams' double-header, and avoid a three-game sweep. Heisey's first two bombs came off journeyman starter Brian Gordon, while the third was courtesy of Hector Noesi. Both the three home-run game and multi-homer effort were the first of Heisey's career. The three home runs are 18.8 percent of Heisey's career total of 16. Slowly but surely, he appears to be turning himself into Cincinnati's primary left fielder, though Jonny Gomes also homered this evening.

Mon Apr 18 201122:18Heisey homers in lopsided loss
Chris Heisey took Pittsburgh's Kevin Correia deep for a two-run homer in the ninth inning on Monday, spoiling an otherwise dominant complete-game victory for the Bucs righty.
The bomb was Heisey's second of the season, while the RBI were his ninth and 10th. Those are impressive numbers considering they've come in just 23 at-bats. Jonny Gomes is playing very well right now, but it wouldn't be surprising if he started ceding a few more at-bats to Heisey sooner rather than later.

Tue Apr 12 201101:12Reds' Heisey hits two-run homer
Replacing Drew Stubbs in center field and in the leadoff spot, Chris Heisey hit a two-run homer Monday as part of the Reds' 3-2 win.
Heisey has started just three games, but he's driven in seven runs in his 15 at-bats. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him back in the lineup on Tuesday, perhaps in right field in place of the struggling Jay Bruce.

Tue Apr 5 201121:57Chris Heisey drives in three runs
Chris Heisey drove in three runs in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Astros.
He drove in one with an RBI single and also pushed a run across with a hit by pitch and a walk. Heisey started in right field, as Jay Bruce was given the night off against left-hander J.A. Happ. The 26-year-old could push for the left field job at some point this season.

Sun Mar 27 201119:15Heisey hits fifth spring homer
Chris Heisey took Arizona's Rafael Rodriguez deep for his fifth home run of the spring on Sunday.
Heisey's hot spring has likely put a little pressure on the defensively-challenged Jonny Gomes. If Gomes gets off to a slow start this season, he could find himself ceding a lot of at-bats to Heisey, who hit eight home runs to go along with 21 RBI in just 226 plate appearances last year.

Sun Mar 20 201119:36Heisey has big day
Chris Heisey went 3-for-6 with a home run, two RBI and two runs against the Cubs on Sunday.
Set to begin the season as the Reds' top outfield sub, Heisey could eventually find himself taking some at-bats away from the defensively challenged Jonny Gomes in left field. He's someone to monitor in NL-only leagues.

Wed Mar 9 201118:45Heisey goes deep vs. Padres
Chris Heisey went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Wednesday's 15-5 win over the Padres.
He also singled and scored twice, raising his spring average to .333. Heisey has a solid all-around skill set and should be starting in left field for the Reds over Jonny Gomes, but for now he'll have to settle for being a backup at all three outfield positions and the team's top pinch-hitter.

Fri Dec 10 201021:51Heisey/Parra deal discussed
Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Reds and Diamondbacks discussed a Chris Heisey/Gerardo Parra swap, but the Reds turned it down.
As they should. Parra is a fine fourth outfielder, but Heisey has a chance to develop into a solid regular at a corner outfield position. Jonny Gomes will begin the 2011 season as the Reds' left fielder, but it's not out of the question that Heisey passes him up at some point during the year.

Wed Dec 8 201011:01D-Backs have interest in Chris Heisey
Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic hears that the Diamondbacks have "some interest" in Chris Heisey.
Piecoro notes that there interest hasn't gone beyond "internal discussions" as this point. Likewise, it's unlikely that the Reds are actively shopping him. Heisey, who turns 26 this month, batted .254/.324/.433 with eight home runs and 21 RBI over 201 at-bats with the Reds this past season and could play a more prominent role in 2011.

Sun Sep 26 201019:30Heisey homers, drives in four in victory
Chris Heisey homered and drove in four runs as the Reds blew out the Padres 12-2 on Sunday.
Heisey's three-run double in the fourth inning put the Reds on top 4-2 and they never looked back from there. The victory lowers the Reds' magic number down to just one game. The Reds and Cardinals are both off tomorrow, so the Reds will try and close out the division against the Astros on Tuesday.
Sun Sep 12 201016:39Heisey returns to action for Reds
Chris Heisey, who was scratched from yesterday's game with a biceps injury, returned to the starting lineup on Sunday.
He went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and left three men on base in a 3-1 Reds' loss.
Sun Sep 12 201010:00Heisey scratched from lineup
Chris Heisey was scratched from Saturday's lineup with a biceps injury.
Reds manager Dusty Baker said Heisey has a bad ankle, while Heisey said he tweaked a bicep swinging the bat Friday. Either way, the ailment doesn't seem to be a concern, as Heisey entered Saturday's game as a defensive replacement and doubled home the tying run the ninth in his only at-bat. We expect him to play Sunday.

Fri Aug 6 201010:54Heisey starting in center field again
Chris Heisey is starting his fifth straight game in center field Friday.
Heisey has run with the opportunity of regular playing time, collecting three straight multi-hit games. The 25-year-old outfielder is batting .306/.384/.571 with seven homers and 12 RBI in just 98 at-bats this season. Reds manager Dusty Baker will likely continue to run him out there for as long as he stays hot, so don't be afraid to use him in NL-only leagues and even some deeper mixed formats.

Tue Aug 3 201011:57Heisey to see more playing time in center
Chris Heisey is expected to see more playing time in center field as the season carries on.
Drew Stubbs is in a 1-for-37 funk while Heisey is playing fantastically both at the plate and in the field. "He was out of here mostly of necessity," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "But he's made the most out of his chances. That's what the big leagues are all about: Get a chance and maximize it." With a .957 OPS and seven homers in 87 at-bats, he's worth a look in some leagues.

Mon Aug 2 201022:01Heisey hits inside-the-park home run
Chris Heisey went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run Monday in the Reds' win over the Pirates.
Heisey also had a double on the night. Amazingly, he has seven home runs this season but just 10 RBI. Four of those longballs have come as a pinch-hitter. The outfielder has handled himself quite well so far in his rookie season, and he could be well on his way to earning a starting spot for 2011.
