With a scoreless, two-strikeout frame for Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Beimel convinced the Mariners he's good to go after missing just one more than the minimum 15 days required by his DL stint. His return will bolster a bullpen that was needed for 10.2 innings in the team's first three games of the week. |

The 38-year-old gave up three homers and recorded just one out against the Rangers on Wednesday, the latest in a series of poor outings -- he's given up at least one run in each of his last five appearances. It seems the should ailment may have played a part in his recent struggles. Rob Rasmussen was recalled to replace Beimel, who will be eligible to return Sept. 4. |

Thu Apr 2 2015 | 19:54 | Beimel signed minor-league contract with Mariners on Thursday |
Beimel signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Thursday, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM ESPN reports. |
Beimel was released by the division-rival Rangers last week, after struggling throughout spring training. He posted a 2.20 ERA over 45 innings with the Mariners last season, but he only struck out 25 batters and is an obvious candidate to regress in a big way. The veteran lefty will likely start his season with Triple-A Tacoma. |

Fri Mar 6 2015 | 13:44 | Beimel has signed major-league deal with Rangers |
Beimel has signed a major-league deal with the Rangers, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. |
This shores up what was an incredibly thin left-handed contingent of the Texas bullpen. Beimel was one of the more improbably effective relievers last season, coming back from Tommy John surgery as a 37-year-old to pitch 45.0 innings with a 2.20 ERA. However, it was still improbable, as Beimel outperformed his FIP by nearly two runs. The Rangers needed a left-hander, but no one should expect nearly a strong a season as Beimel's previous one. |
