Houston Astros' second baseman Jose Altuve exited Friday's game against the Nationals as a precaution after slipping on the grass. He was replaced by Niko Goodrum in the bottom of the ninth inning. According to manager Dusty Baker, Altuve was scheduled for a day off on Saturday. The 32-year-old went 1-for-4 with a solo homer before leaving the game. Altuve is slashing .250/.345/.500 with six home runs, 10 RBI, 13 runs, and two stolen bases over 87 plate appearances. Goodrum is expected to draw the start at second base on Saturday, but fantasy managers can avoid using him as a streamer after he slashed .128/.171/.179 in 2022.

Thu Apr 28 202213:59Jose Altuve On Track To Return Monday
Houston Astros general manager James Click said that second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring) will head to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday and play a couple of rehab games with them before being activated from the injured list on Monday, barring any setbacks. Altuve initially suffered the injury during Monday's game. He was initially being considered day-to-day by the team, but it appears to be a more significant issue than the team originally thought. Aledmys Diaz figures to be the team's primary second baseman while Altuve is out.

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring) will undergo an MRI exam on Tuesday to determine a timetable for his return. It looks as though the 31-year-old avoided a major injury, but we'll know more when the MRI results are released. Fantasy managers will need to check back later to see if Altuve is in the starting lineup on Tuesday against Angels left-hander Patrick Sandoval, but there's a good chance he'll be absent. Tue Apr 19 202209:12Jose Altuve Day-To-Day With Hamstring Strain
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring) was forced to exit Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels. He suffered a left hamstring strain while running out an infield single in the eighth inning of the contest. Aledmys Diaz came into the game to run for him. After the game, Astros manager Dusty Baker called Altuve day-to-day. It doesn't sound like anything major for the 31-year-old, who is slashing .167/.268/.250 over nine games this year. Keep an eye out for updates on Altuve ahead of Game 2 of the series Tuesday.

Sun Apr 10 202213:23Jose Altuve Resting On Sunday
Houston Astros infielder Jose Altuve (rest) will get the day off on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels. Fantasy managers don't need to worry as this is a routine day off for the veteran infielder. Aledmys Diaz will cover second base and bat fifth versus lefty Jose Suarez. Normally, Diaz isn't much of a fantasy option, but does hit well off left-handed pitching. He's in the middle of the order and could have some low-end appeal for Sunday.

Sun Apr 3 202211:21Jose Altuve May Not Hit Leadoff In 2022
Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker is considering utilizing second baseman Jose Altuve as the team's No. 2 hitter this year. Last year, Altuve hit leadoff in each of the 144 games he started. However, Baker believes that Altuve's hitting style is better-suited for second in the order. Baker said, that last year, "Altuve led off because everybody asked him to lead off, not because that's where he feels comfortable." The change in the batting order position wouldn't have much of an effect on Altuve's fantasy value in 2022. However, we could see a big value boost for whoever does wind up as the team's leadoff hitter. We've seen shortstop Jeremy Pena and outfielder Chas McCormick bat leadoff this spring. Pena seems to be the more likely leadoff candidate at this point and he's someone worth targeting in the late rounds of deep leagues and AL-only leagues.
