Arcia left Monday's game against the Tigers in the eighth inning after injuring his back during a swing attempt earlier in the sixth inning, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Arcia will be evaluated further Tuesday and his status for the Twins' second game of the Detroit series hangs in the balance. Until he's reevaluated, there's not much reason to assume this injury should affect the 23-year-old's long-term availability.

Arcia had a big knock Monday, launching a solo home run in the Twins' loss to the Tigers.

Arcia has now hit safely in seven straight games, homering in four of his last eight contests. The young outfielder missed a lot of time early in the season, but still has 18 home runs and 52 RBI for the Twins.

His yearly totals (.230/.305/.444 slash line in 252 at-bats) don't paint the whole picture, as Arcia has had some injury concerns to overcome. Now that he is healthy, Arcia is starting to show us what he finally may be capable of doing.

Arcia will yield the start in right to Chris Parmelee, who will slide over from left to make room for Josh Willingham in the outfield. He returned from the birth of his son to pinch hit Tuesday and play Wednesday, but will take a day off Friday.
