Swarzak made his 13th appearance and lowered his ERA from 4.70 to 4.00. The appearance occurred three days after Swarzak pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings against Boston and was the basis for manager Joe Girardi using him in the sixth during a two-run game.

RHP Anthony Swarzak joined the Yankees on Tuesday when his contract was purchased from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre. Swarzak was 1-4 with a 3.86 ERA in 15 games (six starts) with Scranton/Wilkes Barre. He is in the majors for the first time since last May, when he was with the Indians.

Swarzak's contract was sold to the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization on Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Swarzak was DFA'd by the Indians last month, and he landed at Triple-A Columbus after passing through waivers unclaimed. Rather than toiling away at the Triple-A level, the 29-year-old will head overseas to continue his career. He's just one year removed from appearing in 50 games and posting a 4.60 ERA in 86.0 innings for the Twins.

After being designated for assignment last week, Swarzak passed through waivers unclaimed, so he'll report to Triple-A after beginning the year on the major league roster. Swarzak had decent success, posting a 3.38 ERA over 13.1 innings, and he'll look to sustain that in hopes of a future call-up.

Swarzak was designated for assignment by the Indians on Saturday.

Swarzak tossed two perfect frames against the Twins on Friday night, lowering his ERA to 3.38, but it wasn't enough to save his spot on the 40-man roster. The Tribe had to make room for Saturday's starter Bruce Chen, and Swarzak's .316 BAA likely did him in. He will now be subjected to waivers.

Swarzak officially made the Indians' roster Sunday.

The right-hander, who spent last season in Minnesota, apparently showed enough in spring training to make the roster despite allowing nine earned runs over 8.2 cumulative innings. As was the case for most of last season, he'll work out of the bullpen in a long relief role. Swarzak posted a 4.60 ERA and 1.68 K/BB rate in 2014.

Swarzak agreed to a minor league contract with the Indians on Thursday.

Swarzak will join the Indians after spending the last 11 seasons in the Twins organization -- the last four exclusively with the big league club. His contract includes an invitation to spring training, so he will get a chance to compete for a roster spot.

Swarzak was outrighted to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old took a massive step back in 2014, with his ERA jumping by nearly 170 points, which was in large part due to his regression against right-handed hitters. Opposing right-handers hit .293/.333/.435 against Swarzak, up from .233/.270/.270 in 2013, and it seems the Twins decided his 40-man roster spot would be better used elsewhere. Swarzak has a 4.48 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 439.2 innings at the major league level.
