Giants signed OF Michael Morse to a one-year, $6 million contract.
Morse can also earn a bit more through performance-based incentives. He's a poor defensive outfielder, but the Giants are set with Brandon Belt at first base and will use Morse as their primary left fielder in 2014. The 31-year-old owns a .281/.334/.473 career slash line.

Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com reports that the Giants have signed Michael Morse to a one-year contract, pending a physical.
No word yet on the terms involved. Morse was also drawing heavy interest from the Astros, but he'll obviously have a better chance to contend with the Giants. The 31-year-old was limited to just 88 games this past season due to injury and is coming off wrist surgery, but he should share playing time with Gregor Blanco in left field in 2014.

Wed Dec 11 201320:04Astros in 'serious' discussions with Morse
The Astros are in "serious" discussions with Mike Morse, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
Morse is 31 years old and coming off an injury-plagued season, so the Astros would be buying low on the slugger. ESPN's Buster Olney previously reported Morse is looking for a one-year deal in the $7-8 million range. He'd likely serve as the team's designated hitter and first baseman. The Rockies have also been linked to the outfielder.

Wed Dec 11 201318:18Report: Rockies interested in OF Morse
The Rockies are interested in free agent outfielder Michael Morse, reports ESPN's Jayson Stark.
Colorado has an open starting outfield slot, alongside Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer, following the Dexter Fowler trade. Morse would be a nice fit. True, he suffered through an injury-plagued 2013, slashing a meager .215/.270/.381 with 13 homers and 27 RBI in 88 games between the Mariners and Orioles, but Morse is one of the top power hitters remaining on the open market. ESPN's Buster Olney reported earlier in the week that Morse is looking for a one-year contract worth $7-8 million, a deal that would offer his new team plenty of upside.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Michael Morse is looking for a one-year deal worth $7-8 million.
Morse might be able to get a two-year deal if he really wanted, but he probably prefers a one-year pact as he attempts to re-establish his value following a down 2013. The Astros, Rangers, Rockies, Giants and Marlins are all interested in the first baseman/outfielder.

Tue Dec 10 201316:05Report: Astros interested in Michael Morse
Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that the Astros are interested in Michael Morse.
Morse is coming off an injury-plagued season and would be a good fit for Houston as a buy-low candidate. For what it's worth, Morse has history with Astros manager Bo Porter from their time together in Washington. The Giants, Rangers, Rockies and Marlins have also reportedly expressed interest in the 31-year-old

Mon Dec 9 201319:24Giants unlikely to get Morse or Hart
Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com hears that the Giants are interested in Michael Morse and Corey Hart "but expect dollars/years to go beyond their appetite."
The Giants would be OK going into the season with Gregor Blanco as their left fielder but are exploring possible upgrades. However, it doesn't sound like they'll be willing to pay much to make something happen. Morse is coming off a disappointing, injury-shortened season, while Hart missed all of 2013 due to injury.

Tue Oct 15 201318:08Michael Morse to undergo wrist surgery Wed.
Michael Morse will undergo surgery on his left wrist Wednesday to shave down a bone outgrowth.
Doctors believe the outgrowth occurred as a result of trauma from an injury back in May. It's a relatively minor procedure, as Morse will be able to resume some activities within four weeks and should be totally healed within 6-8 weeks. An impending free agent, Morse will enter spring training with a clean bill of health.

Tue Oct 8 201315:34Michael Morse to undergo left wrist surgery
Michael Morse will undergo surgery on his left wrist.
The decision was made after Morse received a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic. The 31-year-old batted just .215/.270/.381 with 13 homers in 337 plate appearances this season between the Mariners and Orioles, but could make sense as a buy-low option in free agency.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter remained hopeful Friday that Mike Morse would make it to New York in time for Saturdays' afternoon tilt against the Yankees.
Morse, who was acquired from the Mariners on Friday, is expected to function as the O's primary DH for the remainder of the season. While he's hitting a disappointing .226/.283/.410 with 13 homers and 27 RBI on the year, he adds another element of right-handed power into the Orioles lineup.

Fri Aug 30 201314:12Michael Morse lands with Baltimore via trade
Orioles acquired 1B/OF Michael Morse from the Mariners for OF Xavier Avery.
The O's are hoping Morse is more of the .296/.345/.516 hitter he was over the previous three season as opposed to the .226/.283/.410 batter of 2013. He's likely to give them more than what they've received out of the DH spot this season (.217 average, .672 OPS), and he didn't cost much, so it's worth a shot.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Orioles have acquired Michael Morse in a trade with the Mariners.
