In 106 games, Reynolds has hit .283 with 23 doubles, 12 homers and 50 RBIs. In his absence, the Rockies have started Ben Paulsen, who was sent to the minors last week, Daniel Descalso and Gerardo Parra -- all left-handed hitters -- and right-handed-hitting Stephen Cardullo at first base. 1B Mark Reynolds (broken left hamate bone), who last played Aug. 11, took swings in the batting cage for the third time Monday. Manager Walt Weiss didn't rule out Reynolds returning this season but said much work needed to be done. "Hand injuries are tough," Weiss said. "It's one thing to go in there and hit off of a tee or front toss or even (take) batting practice. But to get in a game, it's a very different level. When you're talking about a hand injury, it's always tricky. But I do think it's possible (to return this season). There's a lot still out in front of him that he has to be able to do before he gets into a game."
