Wed Apr 17 201301:14Collin Cowgill picks up three hits
Collin Cowgill went 3-for-6 with a run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Rockies.
Cowgill has struggled since his big Opening Day, as he had just one hit in his previous five starts. He had a nice showing in Tuesday's nightcap, though, before a late Ruben Tejada error cost the Metropolitans the game. He'll continue to start in center field against lefties and should be owned in NL-only formats.

Mon Apr 1 201316:20Cowgill hits grand slam, Mets blow out Padres
Collin Cowgill went 2-for-5 with his first career grand slam and two runs scored in the Mets' 11-2 win over the Padres on Monday.
Cowgill's other hit was a double. The 26-year-old is probably best utilized as a platoon player, but the Mets are giving him a shot as their center fielder and leadoff man in the early going. He should provide enough pop and speed to be relevant in NL-only formats and even some deeper mixed leagues.

Sat Mar 30 201315:06Cowgill to open 2013 as full-time starter
Collin Cowgill will open 2013 as the Mets' full-time center fielder.
Cowgill had an impressive spring and the Mets will go into the season with him as their everyday starter. Kirk Nieuwhenhuis made the Opening Day roster, but will function as a backup initially. If Cowgill can continue to hit right-handed pitching, he should have decent value in NL-only leagues.

Mon Mar 25 201316:30Collin Cowgill hits fourth spring homer
Collin Cowgill went 2-for-2 with a homer and a walk versus the Braves on Monday.
Cowgill is batting .333 with four homers in 57 at-bats. He's certain to start against left-handers for the Mets, and he's making a case for starting against a lot of righties as well. With a little pop and a little more speed, he's an interesting option in NL-only leagues.

Wed Mar 13 201316:26Collin Cowgill hits second homer
Collin Cowgill hit his second spring homer Wednesday off the Nationals' Drew Storen.
Cowgill is hitting .379 and that doesn't count his 3-for-4 day against Venezuela last week. He's making a case to start in center field over Kirk Nieuwenhuis against right-handers. He should already have the job versus lefties.

Wed Mar 6 201317:29Collin Cowgill doubles twice for Mets
Collin Cowgill went 3-for-4 with a couple of doubles and two RBI against Venezuela on Wednesday.
It's the Mets' right-handed-hitting outfielders -- Cowgill and Marlon Byrd (who hit a three-run homer today) -- playing the best this spring. Which isn't quite ideal. The Mets could keep both, but they were hoping that left-handed hitters Lucas Duda, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mike Baxter and Jordany Valdespin would step up.

Wed Feb 27 201316:41Collin Cowgill homers for Mets
Collin Cowgill homered Wednesday and is 4-for-7 with a couple of walks this spring.
With Jordany Valdespin being used as an infielder at the moment, perhaps the Mets will have room for both Cowgill and Marlon Byrd in the outfield. Cowgill, who was picked up from the A's in December, would make sense as a platoonmate for Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
