Thu Jul 28 202211:54Giants Intend To Keep Carlos Rodon, Joc Pederson
The San Francisco Giants continue to convey to other teams that they aren't sellers, and at the moment they intend to hang on to possible free-agent starting pitcher Carlos Rodon and outfielder Joc Pederson. Rodon signed a two-year deal in the offseason, but he has triggered an opt-out clause after going past 110 innings this year. The Giants have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games and are currently at 48-50 and 17.5 games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. They also sit 3.5 games out of the second wild-card spot in the NL. Rodon and Pederson have both been great for the Giants this year and made the All-Star team, so they'd like to hang onto them if they think a postseason appearance is possible.

Wed May 25 202223:21Joc Pederson Continues Homer Binge
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks in Wednesday's 9-3 victory over the New York Mets. This follows up a heroic effort the prior evening, when Pederson slugged three home runs and singled in six at-bats, driving in eight runs in the process. Pederson is now up to a .260/.331/.606 slash line for the season with 11 homers, 17 runs, and 24 RBI. He should be rostered in all formats, at least until he hits an inevitable cold streak.

Wed May 18 202214:28Joc Pederson On The Bench Wednesday
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson is on the bench on Wednesday for a matchup with the Colorado Rockies and left-handed starter Kyle Freeland. Only eight of Pederson's 100 plate appearances this season have come against left-handed pitchers. Mike Yastrzemski is moving over to right field instead and batting ninth, while Austin Slater will play center field and hit leadoff. Slater is batting .255 with a .414 on-base percentage, two home runs, and a pair of stolen bases in 70 plate appearances this season. He could be worth a look as a streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues where on-base percentage is part of the scoring.

Wed May 4 202222:16Joc Pederson Back In Lineup Against Dodgers
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (groin) is back in the starting lineup for the series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night, serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Pederson pinch hit on Tuesday for his first game action since April 27, when he strained his right groin. Fantasy managers will want to get the 30-year-old left-handed slugger back in their starting lineups, as he's hitting a cool .346/.375/.731 with a 1.106 OPS, six home runs, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored in his first 17 games of the season in his first year in San Francisco.

Wed May 4 202209:34Joc Pederson Pinch Hits In Tuesday's Game
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (groin) made an appearance in Tuesday night's 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He came on as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of the game and wound up striking out in his only at-bat. Pederson had been out since April 27 due to a Grade 1 adductor strain. However, he began baseball activities earlier this week and clearly has progressed well, as he was utilized in Tuesday's contest. We'll see if he's included in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Dodgers.

Fri Apr 29 202216:50Joc Pederson Diagnosed With Grade 1 Adductor Strain
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (adductor) has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 adductor strain, according to Giants President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi. Zaidi stated that this is "relatively good news" for Pederson. He added that the team will take a few days to see if Pederson's injury improves before making a decision on the injured list. There's a chance a stint on the injured list won't even be necessary. The 30-year-old is off to a great start to his Giants career, slashing .353/.382/.745 with six home runs over 16 games. Fantasy managers who snagged him off the waiver wire or in drafts should be encouraged by Friday's injury update as Pederson has avoided something serious.

Thu Apr 28 202208:04Joc Pederson Set For An MRI On Thursday
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (groin) is scheduled to get an MRI on his right groin on Thursday. The 30-year-old suffered a groin injury while running the bases during Wednesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. After the game, Giants manager Gabe Kapler said that a trip to the injured list could be in the cards for Pederson. Conversely, Pederson seemed a bit more hopeful that he could avoid a stint on the injured list. He said that he was walking around better on Wednesday after getting some treatment on his groin. Thursday's MRI should help clear things up so make sure to keep an eye out for the results.

Wed Apr 27 202223:23Joc Pederson Injured Wednesday
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson (leg) left the game early on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics with an undisclosed leg injury. Austin Slater entered the game in center field, while Luis Gonzalez moved to right field. Pederson grabbed at his quadriceps muscle while running the bases in the third inning and was replaced the same inning. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until we know more about the injury. The 30-year-old left-handed slugger entered the game with a strong .347/.377/.755 slash line, a league-leading six home runs, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored in 15 games to open the season, so his fantasy managers and the Giants will be hoping that this injury doesn't keep him out for an extended amount of time.

Mon Apr 25 202222:19Joc Pederson Homers, Continues To Mash In 2022
San Francisco Giants outfielder Joc Pederson went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 4-2 win over Milwaukee Brewers. The 30-year-old took Brewers pitcher Trevor Gott deep in the eighth inning to give the Giants a 2-1 lead. He's been on absolute fire, collecting a hit and homered four times in six of his last eight games. Overall, Pederson is slashing .362/.392/.787 with six home runs, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored, and one stolen base over 14 games in 2022. Fantasy managers should roster Pederson in all league formats and continue to start the veteran while he's wielding a hot bat.

Wed Mar 16 202221:08Joc Pederson Inks One-Year Deal With Giants
The San Francisco Giants have signed outfielder Joc Pederson to a one-year contract worth $6 million. The 29-year-old left-hander seems destined for something of a platoon role with the Giants, based on how the franchise has typically handled their lineup over the last few years. Pederson has a career .832 OPS against righties but his .610 OPS against lefties has led to him often being benched against southpaws. Expect to see more of that in San Francisco. He's a decent late-round target in deep daily-lock leagues, but he can go undrafted in a lot of other formats.

Fri Nov 5 202115:20Joc Pederson Declines Option, Opts For Free Agency
Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson has elected free agency, turning down his end of a $10 million dollar mutual contract option for 2022. He will instead receive a $2.5 million dollar buyout. The back-to-back world champion slashed .238/.310/.422 for both the Cubs and Braves this season, totaling 40 extra-base hits, including 18 home runs in 429 plate appearances. Pederson enters a deep market of free-agent outfielders, and his fantasy outlook for 2022 could largely hinge on where he lands. Should he end up as a platoon bat once again, he'll hold much stronger value in daily formats.

Tue Oct 12 202113:18Joc Pederson Draws A Start In Game 4
Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson is making his first start of the NLDS in Game 4 on Tuesday. He'll be covering left field and batting sixth in the lineup. Pederson has been fantastic as a pinch-hitter this series. He's gone 3-for-3 with two home runs, including a game-winning three-run home run in Game 3. Left-hander Eric Lauer will be on the mound for the Milwaukee Brewers. The left-handed Pederson has always struggled against lefties, but he's simply been too hot for the team to leave on the bench. Eddie Rosario, who started each of the first three games of the series in left field, will begin Tuesday's contest on the bench.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson had the biggest hit of the day for the team in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers. He came in to pinch-hit for starting pitcher Ian Anderson in the fifth inning and went on to hit a three-run home run. The blast provided the only runs for the game as the Braves would win the crucial contest by a score of 3-0. Pederson now has two pinch-hit home runs this series. His first one came in the team's Game 1 loss. "Joctober" cheers are flooding through the Twitterverse as the 29-year-old has helped fuel the Braves to a 2-1 series lead.

Sat Oct 9 202116:57Joc Pederson Not In NLDS Game 2 Lineup
Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of the National League Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. The outfielder connected on a pinch-hit home run in the eighth inning of Friday's series-opening loss and has two home runs in 13 career plate appearances against Milwaukee starter Brandon Woodruff, but will begin this one on the bench. During the regular season, Pederson hit .238 with a .310 on-base percentage, 18 home runs, and two stolen bases in 481 plate appearances. It'll once again be Jorge Soler, Adam Duvall, and Eddie Rosario starting from right to left in the outfield for Atlanta.

Tue Sep 28 202118:56Joc Pederson Isn't Starting On Tuesday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson isn't in Tuesday's lineup for a matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies and right-handed starter Zack Wheeler. Pederson is batting .238 with a .310 on-base percentage, 17 home runs, and two stolen bases in 471 plate appearances this season. Instead, it'll be Adam Duvall starting in center field and batting fifth. Duvall is batting .232 with a .285 on-base percentage, 38 home runs, and five stolen bases in 540 plate appearances this season. The outfielder has provided plenty of home runs, but fantasy managers should probably leave him on the bench on Tuesday due to the matchup with Wheeler.

Thu Sep 2 202119:36Joc Pederson Gets Rest Day On Thursday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The Braves have plenty of options in the outfield after the trade deadline, so they can afford to give guys routine days off. Eddie Rosario will cover left field and bat leadoff versus righty Chi Chi Gonzalez. This is an excellent spot for Rosario at the top of the order against a struggling pitcher. He'll be a solid streaming choice and certainly worth a look in DFS contests for Thursday's slate.

Wed Sep 1 202111:02Joc Pederson Goes Deep On Tuesday
Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson was one of the few sources of offense for this lineup on Tuesday. The slugging outfielder went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in the 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was his 16th home run of the season and his fifth as a member of the Braves. Sadly, Pederson doesn't offer much upside outside of his power ability. He'll mainly be a deep league option down the stretch of the season.

Mon Aug 16 202112:18Joc Pederson Doubles In Win Over Nationals
Atlanta Braves outfielder Joc Pederson put together a nice day at the plate during Sunday's matchup with the Washington Nationals. He went 2-for-4 with a double in the 6-5 victory. Pederson's double marked his 16th of the season and is a sign that hopefully he is getting back on track at the plate. Pederson is batting .244 with 14 home runs and 52 RBI this season. Fantasy managers in deep leagues or NL-only formats might be use to get some help from Pederson. Otherwise, he can likely be ignored in 12-team standard formats for the moment.
