Wed Sep 8 202122:40Jon Gray Whiffs Eight In No-Decision
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray took a no-decision on Wednesday when he allowed three runs on six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts over five innings in a 7-4 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Facing the Giants is no easy task these days but Gray was throwing a shutout through the first five innings on Wednesday. The Rockies held a 3-0 lead heading into the sixth frame before he started to fall apart. He surrendered back-to-back singles before Brandon Crawford took him deep for a game-tying, three-run homer. He exited after that and was handed a no-decision for his efforts. Gray has battled injuries over the last month and has only made six starts since August 4. He's only notched one quality start over that span as well but Wednesday was a step in the right direction. He now owns a 4.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 133:54 K/BB ratio over 131 1/3 innings (25 starts). He'll face the Braves on the road in his next turn.

Wed Sep 8 202113:16Jon Gray Activated Wednesday
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray has been activated from the injured list on Wednesday, according to the team. He was placed on the IL on September 1 with right forearm tightness and missed just one start. Gray's having a bit of a bounceback season on the mound, pitching to a 4.13 ERA with a 23.1 K% and 1.32 WHIP. Playing for a poor Rockies team doesn't help him, though, with his record sitting at 7-10. Gray is more of a deep league option at this point, with average numbers across the board and not enough wins to make up for it.

Thu Sep 2 202119:41Jon Gray To Throw Simulated Game On Saturday
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray (forearm) will take the mound and throw a simulated game on Saturday. He was placed on the injured list on Wednesday due to right forearm tightness. The hope is that Gray will be able to get back into the rotation after this simulated game. However, the team is going to wait and see how Gray feels following the outing. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Gray in the hope that he is going to return soon.

Wed Sep 1 202112:58Rockies Place Jon Gray On The Injured List Wednesday
The Colorado Rockies placed starting pitcher Jon Gray (forearm) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. He is dealing with right forearm tightness. The injury forced him to leave his most recent start on Saturday after just two innings. He had been testing out his arm this week and there was some optimism that he wouldn't miss his next start. Unfortunately, that won't be the case. He'll be out at least 10 days with a chance to return during the team's home series against the San Francisco Giants next week. Over 24 starts on the year, Gray has gone 7-10 with a 4.13 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP.

Sun Aug 29 202121:19Jon Gray To Play Catch Monday
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray (forearm) will play catch and have his right forearm tested on Monday, according to Rockies manager Bud Black. Gray was forced out of Saturday's game after just two innings due to right forearm tightness. For now, he is day-to-day, and there will be more information once the tests come back. Gray's having a resurgent campaign after a hideous 2020, pitching to a 4.13 ERA, 23.1 K%, 9.8 BB%, and a 1.32 WHIP over 24 starts. He isn't a great fantasy pitcher, but in deeper leagues, he can still provide a decent ERA, despite hurting the strikeout numbers.

Sun Aug 29 202108:05Jon Gray Dealing With Forearm Tightness
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray (forearm) was forced to exit Saturday's start against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to right forearm tightness. Rockies manager Bud Black told the press that the injury was near Gray's elbow, but that it was located on the lateral side of his arm, away from the UCL. This could be good news for Gray, suggesting he may have avoided something severe. However, he will undergo further tests on Sunday and in the coming days. Gray only lasted two innings on Saturday before exiting. He allowed two hits, three walks and one earned run while striking out two. As of now, his next start is scheduled for Thursday against the Atlanta Braves.

Mon Aug 23 202113:33Jon Gray Rocked On Sunday
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray took the loss on Sunday when he allowed five runs on six hits with three walks and eight strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings. Gray had just two bad innings but it was enough to allow five earned runs and saddle him with the loss. Daulton Varsho smacked a three-run homer off him in the second inning and Josh Rojas and Ketel Marte both drew bases-loaded walks in the sixth inning to score Gray's inherited runners. He did manage to punch out eight but it wasn't a great outing from the veteran hurler. He'll carry his 4.13 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 123:50 K/BB ratio over 124 1/3 innings into his next start against the Dodgers on the road.

Sun Aug 15 202120:19Jon Gray Takes A Loss On Sunday In San Francisco
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray took the loss on Sunday when he allowed three runs on seven hits with one walk and five strikeouts across 4 1/3 innings in a 5-2 loss to the Giants. Gray avoided trouble through the first four innings of Sunday's series finale but then fell apart in the fifth frame. Curt Casali led things off with an RBI single before Tommy La Stella swatted a two-run double. He was then lifted and replaced by Tyler Kinley, who secured the final two outs of the inning to prevent further damage. The three earned runs were enough to saddle Gray with the loss so his record dropped to 7-9 for the season. He'll carry a 3.93 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 115:47 K/BB ratio over 119 innings into this next turn against the D-Backs at home.

Wed Aug 11 202101:59Jon Gray Whiffs Nine In Loss To The Astros
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray took the loss on Tuesday when he surrendered four runs on six hits with two walks and nine strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a 5-0 loss to the Astros. Gray held the Astros down over the first three innings of the ball game before they broke through with three runs courtesy of Chas McCormick and Taylor Jones. Michael Brantley tacked on the fourth run against Gray in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double and that would end the 29-year-old's day on the bump. Colorado couldn't score any runs on Tuesday so Gray would have taken the loss even if he gave up just one run. On the bright side, he punched out nine batters, the second-highest mark of the season. He now owns a 3.85 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 110:46 K/BB ratio over 114 2/3 innings (21 starts). He gets another tough draw in his next turn when the Rockies visit the Giants.

Thu Aug 5 202114:30Jon Gray Takes Seventh Loss Of The Season
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray took the loss on Wednesday when he allowed three runs on eight hits with a walk and six strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to the Cubs. The Rockies' offense spotted Gray a pair of runs in the opening frame and he carried that lead all the way until the fifth inning. He was in line for the win until he loaded the bases and served up a bases-clearing double to Patrick Wisdom. Neither team would score after that so Gray was saddled with the loss. The 29-year-old hurler now owns a 3.67 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 101:44 K/BB ratio over 110 1/3 innings (20 starts). He's got a tough matchup on the road against the Astros in his next turn.

Sat Jul 31 202102:55Joey Votto homers for 7th straight game, 1 shy of MLB record
NEW YORK (AP) — Joey Votto homered for the seventh straight game, one shy of a major league record, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Mets 6-2 on Friday night. Jonathan India went deep twice for the Reds, including a leadoff shot that came on Carlos Carrasco’s first pitch with the Mets. Acquired from Cleveland in January, the veteran right-hander finally made his New York debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. It was an up-and-down day for the Mets, who made a big deal to get Javier Báez from the Chicago Cubs before baseball’s trade deadline — and then revealed injured ace Jacob deGrom will be shut down for two more weeks because of inflammation in his pitching elbow, making it unlikely he’ll rejoin the NL East leaders before September. Báez was acquired from the Cubs along with right-hander Trevor Williams for outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong, the Mets’ first-round pick in the 2020 amateur draft. Báez is expected to join the Mets on Saturday and will play shortstop... [More]

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray earned the win on Friday when he allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a 9-4 win over the Padres. Gray was expected to be traded before Friday's deadline but the Rockies ended up holding on to him. He came through for Colorado in his start, quieting the Padres' bats over his six-plus innings. Both runs he allowed came from a Manny Machado two-run homer in the sixth inning. The hard-throwing right-hander now owns a 3.62 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 95 strikeouts over 104 1/3 innings (19 starts). He'll get the Cubs, who just traded away their three best players, at home in his next start.

Fri Jul 30 202112:22Rockies Will Not Trade Away Jon Gray
Teams are being told that the Colorado Rockies will not trade away starting pitcher Jon Gray prior to the trade deadline, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Gray had been considered one of the top trade targets heading into the deadline, but reports emerged late this week that the Rockies might opt to keep Gray and offer him a qualifying offer at the end of the season. Barring something unexpected, managers should expect Gray to remain in Colorado through the rest of the season.

Wed Jul 28 202114:49Jon Gray Garnering Interest From Multiple Clubs
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray is drawing interest from the Giants, Padres, and Phillies according to Jon Morosi. He added that the Rockies are just listening so far and a trade likely won't go down until Max Scherzer is moved, which would help set Gray's market value. The 29-year-old Gray has been solid this year, posting a 3.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 91:40 K/BB ratio over 98 innings (18 starts). He would help bolster the rotation on a number of contending clubs and will become a free agent following this season.

Fri Jul 16 202119:51Padres place rookie left-hander Ryan Weathers on IL
WASHINGTON (AP) — The San Diego Padres placed rookie left-hander Ryan Weathers on the 10-day injured list with right ankle inflammation. The move is retroactive to July 13. The Padres, who opened a three-game series in Washington against the Nationals on Friday, did not immediately make a corresponding move. Weathers was injured Sunday against the Colorado Rockies when he fielded Jon Gray’s sacrifice bunt, ran to tag him and landed awkwardly on his right leg. He fell to the ground in pain. After a few moments on the ground, he had to be helped from the field. The team said Weathers suffered bruising in the back of the ankle around the Achilles tendon. He had been wearing a walking boot, but has since thrown without it. Prior to the Friday’s game, manager Jayce Tingler said right-hander Yu Darvish (left hip inflammation) is progressing and the plan is for Darvish to start Monday at Atlanta. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/mlb and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
Sun Jul 11 202121:29Altuve's 3-run homer in 9th caps Astros' rally past Yankees
HOUSTON (AP) — Jose Altuve hit a three-run homer to cap a startling six-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, getting his jersey yanked off in a frenzied celebration and lifting the Houston Astros over the New York Yankees 8-7 on Sunday. The Astros had been shut out by the Yankees the previous two games, highlighted by ace Gerrit Cole’s three-hitter in a 4-0 win on Saturday night. The win came on Altuve replica jersey giveaway at Minute Maid Park — Houston fans left with a No. 27 shirt, while the All-Star second baseman exited without his. New York led 7-2 after a three-run homer by Gary Sanchez in the eighth inning. After the first two Astros reached base against Domingo Germán in the ninth, Chas McCormick hit a two-run double off Chad Green (3-5). Abraham Toro followed with an RBI double to make it 7-5, still with no outs. Pinch-hitter Jason Castro singled and one out later, Altuve launched his soaring shot to left field.
