Fri Jan 18 201309:22Richard Hamilton still on a minutes limit
Richard Hamilton continues to be on a minutes limit.
"I'm watching his minutes," Tom Thibodeau said. It's a smart move by Thibs to keep the oft-injured veteran in the lineup, and there is no reason to push him at this point in the season.

Wed Jan 16 201322:17Rip Hamilton scores 15 in 18 minutes
Rip Hamilton had 15 points, five assists and two 3-pointers on 6-of-9 shooting in Wednesday's overtime win.
He'll need a lot more minutes to be worth a look in fantasy, but he should eventually be turned loose as he continues to improve after his painful foot injury.

It is "unlikely" Richard Hamilton will be traded before the February 21 deadline, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Hamilton's name had surfaced in trade rumors previously, but this is the second straight report that denies the veteran is on the block. However, the Bulls are reportedly "unlikely" to exercise his contract option for next season.

Wed Jan 9 201307:58Report: Bulls not shopping Richard Hamilton
GM Gar Forman denied that Richard Hamilton was on the trade block.
"No, no, Rip is a big part of what we're doing," he said. Tom Thibodeau has made it clear that he values Hamilton's leadership on the floor and intends to limit his minutes in order to keep him fresh, but Hamilton's name will probably continue to surface in trade rumors despite the team indicating that he's staying put.

Mon Dec 31 201208:20Rip Hamilton confirms his foot feeling good
Richard Hamilton (foot) said that his endurance is good following his return from injury.
I told coach don't worry about my endurance part," Hamilton said. "I've been able to control that and do all the right things my whole career, of always staying in shape. Rip previously said that his foot "still hurts" after returning to action, and with his minutes limited right now, his fantasy upside is capped at this time. Owners in standard formats can do better.

Sun Dec 30 201210:41Rip Hamilton (foot) to play limited minutes
Rip Hamilton said that he felt "good" on Saturday, his first game in nearly a month, but he admitted that this foot "still hurts."
Hamilton may have caught a break by having the plantar fasciia tear, as he explained after the game. "There's no way I can hurt it any further. It tore, so that's a benefit for me when I'm out there playing, to really stop on a cut and really take the contact." Tom Thibodeau wants to limit him to 15-20 minutes per game, however, which ruins Rip's short-term value. He was averaging 13.9 points before the injury forced him to miss the past 12 games.

Sat Dec 29 201223:27Richard Hamilton scores nine in return
Richard Hamilton returned from his foot injury on Saturday and had nine points, one assist and one 3-pointer in 15 minutes.
He's been out of the lineup since December 1 and at 34 years old, the Bulls are likely going to ease him back into his old role. Although, the emergence of Marco Belinelli, who scored 17 points tonight, could limit Rip's upside even more. We'd leave Rip on the waiver wire in standard leagues until further notice.

Sat Dec 29 201218:37Rip Hamilton (foot) will start on Saturday
Richard Hamilton will start for the Bulls on Saturday.
He went down with a foot injury back on December 1 and the 34-year-old guard will likely be eased back into getting minutes. Those that have enjoyed Marco Belinelli might want to be ready for him to take a hit. Rip doesn't offer enough upside to grab him in standard leagues until he proves his health.

Sat Dec 29 201213:19Richard Hamilton on track to start Saturday
Richard Hamilton (foot) practiced Saturday and according beat writer Aggrey Sam is likely to start against the Wizards.
Hamilton and Luol Deng (ankle) are both considered game-time decisions tonight, but it sounds like Hamilton will play return to limited minutes. Owners will want to check back closer to game time for an update.

Fri Dec 28 201213:35Hamilton, Deng both game-time calls Saturday
Richard Hamilton (foot) and Luol Deng (ankle, shoulder) are both game-time decisions on Saturday vs. the Wizards.
Tom Thibodeau said that Hamilton "looked good" in practice, while Deng "didn't do much." Owners of both will have to check back for an update, but for now, it sounds like Hamilton has a slightly better chance of playing than Deng. Hamilton's return cuts into the value of Marco Belinelli.

Wed Dec 26 201208:10Rip Hamilton doing more, uncertain Saturday
Rip Hamilton (foot) is doing "a lot more," but he's uncertain to play on Saturday, according to Tom Thibodeau.
Thibs previously said that Hamilton was "a few practices away from returning," but that has now transformed into a "day-to-day" designation. The Bulls coach is notorious for his cryptic injury updates, but Saturday would mark four weeks since Hamilton initially sustained the injury.

Mon Dec 24 201214:02Rip Hamilton (foot) has started running
Richard Hamilton (foot) has begun running, but he's still "a few practices away from returning."
It sounds as if Hamilton is day-to-day at this point, but the Bulls won't rush the veteran given his injury history. Owners in deeper formats can use him when he's healthy for points, but he doesn't offer much more than that.

Wed Dec 19 201208:10Report: Rip Hamilton still on the trade block
The Bulls remain willing to trade Richard Hamilton, league sources told the Chicago Tribune.
It's not a surprise. Hamilton's name has been mentioned as a trade candidate for a while, and because he has such a small guarantee on his contract for next season, his salary is "in essence an expiring contract." We don't expect any team to bite before Hamilton gets healthy again, but he's one name who could be on the move around the trade deadline.

Mon Dec 17 201212:06Rip Hamilton progressing, no return date
Richard Hamilton (foot) said that he's "improving," but there is still no timetable for his reutrn.
Hamilton is a fragile veteran who will be given all the time he needs to return in proper form. It would be a surprise to see him before Christmas or the new year, and Marco Belinelli will continue to fill in for Rip in his absence.

Fri Dec 14 201215:01Richard Hamilton shooting, doing some cardio
Richard Hamilton (foot) isn't practicing, but is shooting and doing some cardio, according to coach Tom Thibodeau.
Hamilton was originally projected up to four weeks and we don't see anything here to change that diagnosis. We're still expecting to see Hamilton return some time around Christmas or early January.

Fri Dec 7 201210:02Rip Hamilton (foot) could miss up to 4 weeks
Richard Hamilton (foot) could miss up to four weeks, but he hopes to return sooner.
We had a suspicion that a one-to-two week absence wouldn't be enough to accomodate Hamilton's recovery period, and it looks like that initial timetable was off. Hamilton was diagnosed with a torn plantar fascia on December 2, so we wouldn't be surprised to see him return around Christmas or early January. In his place, Marco Belinelli will continue to start with Jimmy Butler and Nate Robinson seeing a bump in minutes as well.

Thu Dec 6 201208:48Hamilton improving, still out 1-2 weeks
Richard Hamilton (foot) is "getting better," but he'll still be out for "a week or two," according to Tom Thibodeau.
Hamilton traveled with the Bulls, but it sounds like the fragile veteran is not going to be rushed by his team to return. In the interim, Marco Belinelli, who scored 23 points (two treys) on Wednesday in his first start for Hamilton, will continue to see a boost. Jimmy Butler should also see increased time off the bench.

Sun Dec 2 201220:18Rip out 1-2 weeks w/ torn plantar fascia
Rip Hamilton has been diagnosed with a torn plantar fascia in his left foot, and he's expected to miss "a week or two."
The injury sounds worse than it really is -- plantar fasciitis is a chronic condition that can hobble professional athletes for weeks or months, while Rip's injury doesn't have such a lengthy timetable. Marco Belinelli or Jimmy Butler will start in Rip's place this week, while Nate Robinson may also get a boost in minutes off the bench.
