Mon Jan 24 201122:45T-Mac puts up magical line against old team
Tracy McGrady put up a magical line against his old Orlando team on Monday, scoring 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting (no threes) with seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals in the Pistons' win.
Fresh off a day off and a 24-minute outing on Saturday he had his legs and some extra motivation tonight. If at any time during the T-Mac experience this year you can find an owner who believes in his long-term viability you almost have to make the move, but otherwise just enjoy it until he gets hurt.
Sat Jan 22 201123:28McGrady slumps real bad against the Suns
Tracy McGrady had a horrific night on Saturday against the Suns, scoring just three points on 1-of-5 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block in 24 minutes.
Backup PG Will Bynum played 21 minutes with 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, but is still doesn't offer much in terms of fantasy value. We don't know just yet whether it was an injury or coaching decision that limited his time, but it's probably a bit of both by the looks of it.
Fri Jan 21 201122:05T-Mac plays well, but Pistons fall to Nets
Tracy McGrady hit 4-of-10 shots for 10 points, six rebounds and six assists in Friday's ugly loss to the Nets.
He didn't have a three, steal or block, but it looks like he can be put back into lineups for owners.
Wed Jan 19 201123:47T-Mac struggles in Pistons' loss
Tracy McGrady hit just 2-of-9 shots for five points, four boards and seven assists in Wednesday's loss.
He's playing on a sore leg, as usual, and struggled tonight. He's still worth owning and could get hot again at any time.
Mon Jan 17 201118:18Tracy McGrady (shin) returns on Monday
Tracy McGrady (shin) started Monday's game and had eight points and three assists in 26 minutes.
T-Mac's injury wasn't serious but even as a starter (and Rip Hamilton out of the rotation) he's providing only mediocre value.
Mon Jan 17 201113:56T-Mac not even on injury report for Pistons
Tracy McGrady is not even listed on the initial injury report for the Pistons on Monday and will start.
This could be a mistake, but regardless, he sounds like a lock to play on Monday. The question is, will he make it through the whole week?

Mon Jan 17 201112:50T-Mac (shin) expected to play Monday
Tracy McGrady is expected to play on Monday despite suffering a "sore shin" on Saturday.
T-Mac was being cautious and sat out all but nine minutes of Detroit's last game. He's been surprisingly effective and durable in recent weeks, but even his numbers as a starter are decent but not great -- in nine starts he's averaging 11.7 points, 0.7 threes, 4.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.9 steals, and 2.3 turnovers.
Sun Jan 16 201100:58McGrady says leg strain isn't serious
Tracy McGrady tweeted after Saturday's game that he was just playing it safe with what he called a "leg strain," after lasting just nine minutes with no statistics other than a rebound.
This is unqualified good news, but highlights the risks of relying on him over the long-term. If you can somehow convince another owner to take that risk on in a reasonable deal, by all means do it, but otherwise keep riding him until the wheels fall off.

Sat Jan 15 201121:04Tracy McGrady leaves game with shin injury
Tracy McGrady left Saturday's game with a sore shin after playing just nine minutes and will not return.
He was supposed to return but somebody pulled the plug on that notion, and with the game certainly still in question we're seeing the fragility of McGrady in all of its splendor. Owners knew this risk going into McGrady's NBA makeover, and we'll bring you the details as they become available.

Sat Jan 15 201120:19McGrady leaves briefly with sore shin
Tracy McGrady left Saturday's game early with a sore left shin, but is fully expected to return to action.
It looked like he came down awkwardly and tweaked his ankle, and you can bet owners around the fantasy nation were holding their breath. He should be fine, but you can never be sure with McGrady, who is a high-risk, high-reward option right now.

Fri Jan 14 201122:22T-Mac leads Pistson to win over Raptors
Tracy McGrady hit 8-of-17 shots in 36 minutes on Friday for 22 points, four rebounds, five assists and two 3-pointers, his best line as a Piston.
As hard as it is to believe, McGrady has morphed into the Pistons' best player. He'll also keep owners walking on eggshells in fear of the next setback with his legs, but for now, he should be in starting lineups.
Wed Jan 12 201123:34T-Mac starts at point guard for Pistons
Tracy McGrady started at point guard for the Pistons (Rodney Stuckey slid over to SG) and had 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block on 6-of-11 shooting Wednesday.
As long as he's healthy and getting run like this, feel free to pick him up and start him. Just beware that he could drop at any time and might cause more headaches than fantasy wins in the long run.
Wed Jan 12 201115:36McGrady to start in backcourt on Wednesday
Tracy McGrady will start at shooting guard on Wednesday as part of a Pistons' lineup shakeup.
T-Mac is already averaging 11.7 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 5.0 apg in 29 minutes per game over his last nine (four starts, five bench appearances), so rejoining the starting five shouldn't alter his value too much. Nevertheless, he's still worth a look in many formats as long as he stays healthy. With McGrady joining the starting lineup, the slumping Ben Gordon (5.7 ppg in his last three) goes to the bench.

Mon Jan 10 201123:10McGrady gets the minutes on Monday
Tracy McGrady saw 31 minutes of action off the bench on Monday, but scored just nine points on 4-of-8 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.
He backed up all three wing positions and got good minutes, but simply couldn't get it done for fantasy owners. We're inclined to be patient with him, however, given his significant playing time and the fact that Rodney Stuckey struggled in just 19 minutes.
Sat Jan 8 201122:47Tracy McGrady solid off Pistons' bench
Tracy McGrady shifted to the Pistons' bench on Saturday, where he had nine points, four rebounds, seven assists, two blocks, and zero turnovers in 37 minutes.
T-Mac is backing up PG, SG, and even SF, and we're forced to admit that the oft-injured veteran is defying our cynical expectations. Start him if you so desire, but we remain very skeptical about his durability.
Wed Jan 5 201101:06McGrady not quite as good vs. the Lakers
Tracy McGrady got another start at PG against the Lakers on Tuesday, and scored 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting (including a three) with two rebounds, six assists, six turnovers, and one block in 25 minutes.
He started because Rodney Stuckey was too ill to play much, lasting just 13 minutes in bench duty, though conspiracy theorists will say that T-Mac was getting a test run tonight. Aside from an up-and-down performance tonight, the same issues exist with T-Mac as he had entering tonight -- he's probably heading back to the bench and he's a huge injury risk. He's probably worth a pickup for the upside he has if he miraculously makes this work, but he it is a complete gamble.
Tue Jan 4 201102:34McGrady nears triple-double vs. Jazz
Tracy McGrady came one rebound shy of a triple-double on Monday in a start for Rodney Stuckey, who came off the bench as he returns from the flu, scoring 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting with nine rebounds and 11 assists in 34 minutes of action.
Is he worth a pickup after this? It would be hard to pass him up in most formats when you're picking up Brandon Bass only to replace him with Jason Thompson during a waiver run. The fact is, however, that his knee is unlikely to withstand 30 minutes a night on a consistent basis, which all but rules out any chance of him starting. And coming off the bench, he is going to be inconsistent, so the hope here is that he looks good when it averages out.
Fri Dec 31 201023:32T-Mac starts again for injured Stuckey
Tracy McGrady started again for Rodney Stuckey (illness) and had seven points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal, two blocks, a 3-pointer and five turnovers in 35 minutes.
The fact he's one of the best players the Pistons have probably tells you everything you need to know about the team. Stuckey will be back in the next one, but T-Mac will remain a fixture in the rotation until his legs finally give out.
Wed Dec 29 201023:37T-Mac's 21 points, 8 assists help Pistons win
Tracy McGrady started at point guard for Rodney Stuckey (illness) and had 21 points, four rebounds, eight assists, three steals and a 3-pointer on 7-of-11 shooting as the Pistons shocked the Celtics on Wednesday.
T-Mac has had some good lines this season, but is as up and down as any player in the league. He's obviously comfortable running the offense in Detroit, but is a very risky fantasy start on nights when Stuckey is playing.
Tue Dec 28 201011:00McGrady was too stiff to play in 4th quarter
Tracy McGrady didn't play in the second half Monday night because he was too stiff to go into the game.
McGrady played 10 minutes in the first half, but then sat out the entire third quarter. When coach John Kuester called for T-Mac, he declined because of stiffness. Neither the Pistons nor fantasy owners should be putting any real trust in McGrady.
