Wed Mar 7 201218:30Hawks resting T-Mac Wednesday night
Tracy McGrady is sitting out the second night of a back-to-back on Wednesday.
There's no injury listed, but the team is simply trying to keep the veteran backup healthy. McGrady is averaging 5.9 points in 17 minutes per game this season.

Tue Mar 6 201222:34Tracy McGrady back in action for Hawks
Tracy McGrady returned from a knee injury Tuesday and had five points and six assists in 20 minutes.
He'll help Kirk Hinrich and Jannero Pargo fill the void until Joe Johnsonn returns from a knee injury this weeekend, but isn't worth owning in most fantasy leagues.

Mon Mar 5 201213:26Tracy McGrady questionable with knee issue
Tracy McGrady (knee) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
McGrady strained his left knee on Saturday and didn't return to the game. Even with Joe Johnson (knee) and Willie Green (back) hobbled, McGrady is more headache than asset for fantasy owners.

Sat Mar 3 201220:26T-Mac leaves game w/ strained left knee
Tracy McGrady is doubtful to return to Saturday's game due to a strained left knee.
This should surprise nobody. It's more bad news for a Hawks team already missing Willie Green and Joe Johnson to injuries. Kirk Hinrich is suddenly the go-to SG in Atlanta.

Sat Mar 3 201200:43T-Mac makes some noise with 9-11-5 line
Tracy McGrady played 26 minutes off the bench with Joe Johnson (knee) out, scoring nine points on 4-of-9 shooting (including a three) with 11 rebounds and five assists.
T-Mac is not a good bet to produce consistently for fantasy owners, but he'll be worth a look while Joe Johnson (knee) is out. And if Johnson is to miss significant time, he'll be worth a look as a longer-term pickup.

Mon Feb 20 201219:27McGrady gets 21 minutes after complaining
A day after complaining about minutes, Tracy McGrady logged 21 of them in Monday's loss to the Bulls.
McGrady actually looked somewhat spry, blocking three shots, scoring six points and dishing out three assists. Sustaining that energy level is the problem for him and his broken-down body at age 32. Even with Joe Johnson (knee) doubtful for Wednesday, McGrady's upside is capped by his physical limitations.

Mon Feb 20 201216:00Tracy McGrady, Hawks have a chat
Tracy McGrady, coach Larry Drew and GM Rick Sund had a meeting to discuss the veteran's playing time.
McGrady went off after playing four minutes on Saturday, saying he's "tired of this [bleep]." The real problem is that T-Mac thinks he's a better player than he is at this point in his career. With Marvin Williams (personal) out Monday, Willie Green is starting.

Sun Feb 19 201209:48Tracy McGrady gripes about role w/ Hawks
After playing under five minutes on Saturday, Tracy McGrady publicly complained about his role with the Hawks.
"I'm tired of this [bleep]," McGrady said. "You can put that in the paper, I don't give a [bleep]." He said he hasn't received an explanation from Larry Drew about his low playing time -- Drew may not be blameless, but it's not at all surprising to see the prima donna T-Mac resurface. This could lead to a punishment from the team but either way McGrady isn't helping your fantasy team.

Wed Feb 15 201219:58McGrady out on Wednesday to rest
Tracy McGrady will not play on Wednesday against the Suns to get some prescribed rest.
McGrady hasn't made a peep in weeks and this won't alter the fantasy landscape in Atlanta much, if at all. Look for Marvin Williams and Kirk Hinrich to absorb his minutes, but neither are appealing options in standard formats.

Tue Jan 31 201221:46T-Mac scores 15 against former mates
Tracy McGrady hit 5-of-7 shots for 15 points, four rebounds, an assist, steal, block and 3-pointer in Tuesday's easy win over the Raptors, his former team.
T-Mac has looked good when healthy this season, and the 19 minutes he's getting per game seem to be about right. But the lack of minutes and injury risk is also why he should be ignored in most fantasy leagues.

Thu Jan 19 201201:47Tracy McGrady plays through sore back
Tracy McGrady returned from a sore back and had eight points, six rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes on Wednesday.
His fantasy value, if you want to call it that, seems to be to limit the minutes of Marvin Williams, who saw just 21 of them tonight. Marvin is still working his way back from a sprained ankle, while McGrady will likely be in and out of the lineup all season with various ailments.

Tue Jan 17 201214:39Tracy McGrady says he's ready to play
Tracy McGrady (back) said he's "ready to go."
McGrady is apparently frustrated with the Hawks' medical staff. "I wish they'd release me. And I don't mean from the team," he said. McGrady has appeared in just three of the Hawks' last seven games and hasn't topped eight minutes in any of those.

Mon Jan 16 201221:21McGrady's back tightened up on him
Tracy McGrady's back injury tightened up on him in Monday's game, leading to his early exit.
McGrady played just eight minutes and we were sort of expecting this report. He's going to be a headache, but as we said earlier he will put up numbers when he's feeling healthy. Good luck figuring out when that is, though. We're calling McGrady questionable for Wednesday's game against the Blazers.

Mon Jan 16 201219:40McGrady (back) plays eight minutes on Monday
Tracy McGrady (back) returned to action on Monday, playing eight minutes off the bench with three assists to his credit.
McGrady will be a risky asset all year, producing when his body feels good and disappearing when it doesn't. With Al Horford out for most of the year, McGrady will have more opportunity to put up numbers on the nights his body feels well, so just keep an eye on him for now.

Sat Jan 14 201212:41T-Mac (back) out until at least Monday
Tracy McGrady (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game and won't play until Monday at the earliest.
The good news is that a back specialist reported no further damage than the herniated disk T-Mac has played with for years. "I should be fine," McGrady said. "Take a couple days, do some stretching and do the necessary things to get myself back on the basketball court. I should be back Monday."

Thu Jan 12 201223:35T-Mac to see back specialist, could play Sat
Tracy McGrady will see a back specialist on Friday and could play on Saturday against the Wolves.
Marvin Williams (ankle) sounds like he's targeting Saturday, as well, and we wouldn't be surprised to see an 'all hands on deck' approach. With Al Horford now out the rest of the year, owners should bump McGrady up on their boards for the simple fact he will help pick up the slack. The inconsistency and injury risk isn't going away, however.

Thu Jan 12 201218:40Tracy McGrady out for Hawks
Tracy McGrady (back) will not play against the Bobcats Thursday.
McGrady is targeting Saturday for his return. Willie Green will serve as the Hawks' scorer off the bench tonight.

Wed Jan 11 201222:06McGrady questionable for Thursday
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Michael Cunningham, Tracy McGrady (back spasms) is unsure if he will be ready to play Thursday night against the Bobcats.
McGrady missed Wednesday's game against the Pacers, which was a bit surprising after declaring himself "ready to roll" prior to the game. For now, consider him day-to-day.

Wed Jan 11 201218:06Tracy McGrady (back spasms) out Wednesday
Tracy McGrady won't play in Wednesday's game due to back spasms.
This comes on the same day as McGrady telling the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he's "ready to roll," and that "I've worked too hard (to sit)", but missed games shouldn't be a shock given McGrady's extensive injury history. With Marvin Williams (ankle) also out, look for Vladimir Radmanovic to push for 40 minutes against the Pacers.

Wed Jan 11 201214:50Tracy McGrady says he feels fine physically
Tracy McGrady (knee) says that he feels fine physically.
"I'm ready to roll, man. I've worked too hard [to sit]," said T-Mac. His enthusiasm and desire is commendable, and he's looked very good in bursts this year, but he'll only get as far as his body takes him. Coach Larry Drew said the team will monitor his minutes and adjust them as circumstances require, but that he'll get "consistent minutes" off the bench.
