Tue Jan 10 201200:44McGrady plays just nine minutes on Monday
Tracy McGrady (knee) played just eight minutes on Monday, scoring two points with one rebound and one assist.
Remember this line the next time he posts a 14-point, seven-rebound, five-assist night as he did this past Thursday. When the knee is good, he is good, and vice-versa.

Sat Jan 7 201223:52T-Mac scoreless in quiet return for Hawks
Tracy McGrady (knee) returned to action on Saturday but went scoreless in just eight minutes.
T-Mac would normally be a decent pickup with Marvin Williams (sprained ankle) ailing, but his legs are a constant source of concern. At this point, Vladimir Radmanovic looks like a better option if you're scrambling for a short-term replacement.

Sat Jan 7 201217:45T-Mac active on Saturday despite sore knee
Tracy McGrady (knee) is active for the Hawks on Saturday.
Whether he plays, and how much he plays, are different questions entirely. There's not much upside to gambling on him tonight, so keep him reserved unless you're flat out of alternatives.

Fri Jan 6 201218:15McGrady ruled out for Friday vs. Bobcats
Tracy McGrady (knee) has been ruled out for the Hawks game Friday night vs. the Bobcats.
T-Mac has looked serviceable when he is able to stay on the floor, but those days are few and far between. McGrady is out again on Friday night with Joe Johnson to get some minutes at SF. Vladimir Radmanovic and Ivan Johnson will pick up minutes in the Hawks' front-court as well.

Fri Jan 6 201202:02T-Mac's knee stiffins up; questionable Fri
Tracy McGrady's chronically sore knee stiffened up after sitting on the bench for an extended period of time in Thursday's triple-overtime loss, cutting short his 14-point, seven-rebound, five-assist night.
McGrady played 30 minutes and probably couldn't have gone much more even if his knee stayed warm. He added a steal, a three, and two blocks and is basically a guy that's going to get numbers when his knee and body feel good, and otherwise he won't. That's not enough to go on in standard-sized leagues, but otherwise check him out. We're calling him questionable for Friday's game after this workload.

Thu Jan 5 201219:14McGrady (knee) to play on Thursday vs. Heat
Tracy McGrady (knee) will play on Thursday vs. the Miami Heat.
Head coach Larry Drew said "(McGrady's) going to try it. We will see how he is." It doesn't sound overly encouraging, but if you need T-Mac in your lineup tonight, it sounds like he will, at the very least, play in the game and give it a go for as long as he can.

Thu Jan 5 201211:30Tracy McGrady (knee) to play on Thursday
Tracy McGrady (knee soreness) plans to play on Thursday.
He left Tuesday's game early but later returned after being checked out in the locker room. It sounds like McGrady is fine and should resume his usual role in the Hawks rotation.

Tue Jan 3 201223:42T-Mac plays just 15 minutes w/ sore knee
Tracy McGrady played through a sore knee on Tuesday and lasted just 15 minutes, finishing with two points and six boards on 1-of-4 shooting.
He left the first half early and went to the locker room due to the knee but played sparingly in the fourth quarter. He should be OK, but the second night of back-to-backs are going to be tough on him all year.

Tue Jan 3 201221:05Tracy McGrady to locker room w/ leg injury
Tracy McGrady left the Hawks game late in the second quarter and headed to the locker room with what appeared to be some sort of left knee injury.
It sounds like he should return in the second half after banging knees with another player, but you have to think this season's compact schedule could really cause his legs a lot of problems.

Tue Jan 3 201207:59McGrady feeling fresh, contributing for Hawks
Tracy McGrady said that his legs feel fresh and "it's been a long time since I've had that feeling."
McGrady has had back-to-back solid outings, so he's not just blowing hot air with the quote. He has been a very solid pickup for the Hawks thus far in the year, and his contributions in the second unit have been welcome. The veteran went as far as to say that it's the best he's felt since the beginning of his knee injury.

Sat Dec 31 201121:32T-Mac has nice game vs. Rockets
Tracy McGrady had a season high of 13 points, six rebounds and a 3-pointer on 6-of-11 shooting in 25 minutes on Saturday.
This was against his former team and his current teammates were tired after playing pretty heavy minutes and playing the back end of a home-and-road back-to-back. T-Mac's now averaging over 20 minutes per game and has been effective off the Hawks' bench, but is still a reach in most fantasy leagues.

Fri Dec 9 201120:12McGrady signs with the Hawks on Friday
Point forward Tracy McGrady signed with the Hawks on Friday.
It's been said that he's on a one-year deal for the veteran minimum, which makes this a good deal for the Hawks. While T-Mac's attitude would have once been a concern in a troubled Hawks locker room, McGrady has matured a bunch and might actually help out. If Jamal Crawford leaves town, McGrady might be worth a look in deeper formats but we're stretching here.

Wed Dec 7 201116:34Tracy McGrady to join Hawks on one-year deal
Tracy McGrady has agreed to join the Hawks on a one-year deal for the veteran minimum, according to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith.
Smith first mentioned the possibility of this scenario on Tuesday. It's unclear exactly what plans the Hawks have for McGrady, but in a best-case scenario for T-Mac's value (barring any additional trades), the Hawks would use him to fill the scoring void created by the potential loss of free agent Jamal Crawford. The 32-year-old McGrady averaged just 8.0 points in 23 minutes for Detroit last season, upping his average to 10.1 points (with 4.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists) in 39 games as a starter.

Tue Dec 6 201117:47Stephen A. Smith: T-Mac to ATL?
Stephen A. Smith said on Twitter Tuesday that he expects free agent Tracy McGrady to play for the Hawks this season.
Chicago also sounds interested, and they need a shooting guard more than the Hawks do with Joe Johnson under (massive) contract. But it sounds like T-Mac's days in Detroit are over. As for fantasy value, he's going to likely be too banged up to be reliable, but should at least be worth owning in most leagues.

Fri Dec 2 201117:25Pistons reach out to T-Mac's agent
The Pistons have reached out to Tracy McGrady's agent, but he said he is open to playing "anywhere."
Detroit took a low-risk gamble on T-Mac last year and he actually managed to play in 72 games, averaging 8.0 points on 44% shooting (34% from downtown), 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 0.9 steals in 23 minutes per game.

Thu Dec 1 201101:33McGrady wants to play for the Bulls
Free agent combo guard Tracy McGrady said that he would like to play for the Bulls in a report released Wednesday.
Surely he would, but that doesn't mean he'll get the nod despite a past working relationship with Tom Thibodeau. The Bulls are going to exhaust all of their options before taking on the aging vet, who improved his attitude and showed some skill last season but has plenty of red flags.

Tue Oct 4 201115:24Report: T-Mac won't be going to China
Contrary to reports, Tracy McGrady does not plan on playing in China this season, with or without a lockout.
McGrady is "not playing in China this year no matter what people read," said an unnamed source close to T-Mac. He's an unrestricted free agent, so he probably won't be playing with the Pistons again, either.

Fri Aug 19 201120:35McGrady to visit China on August 28
Tracy McGrady will visit the Foshan Dralions of the Chinese Basketball Association on August 28.
We've heard his name bounce around the Lakers and Heat, but nothing serious has developed. He doesn't fit the description of a guy who would risk injury and add to his odometer, but the Chinese following he developed when paired with Yao Ming in Houston may come into play. Building his brand overseas may make more sense for him than the average NBA player.

Sun Aug 7 201111:31Report: Heat would consider Redd, T-Mac
After the lockout the Heat would consider signing Michael Redd or Tracy McGrady if they can't land their favored free agent swingmen, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
The preferred options are Grant Hill, Shane Battier, and Tayshaun Prince. The new CBA will determine how Miami has to approach free agency, but they're locked into some huge contracts and unlikely to have much flexibility.

Mon Jul 18 201113:53Tracy McGrady wants to join the L.A. Lakers?
Tracy McGrady Tweeted over the weekend "yes or no" accompanied by an edited image of what he would look like in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform.
Interesting. The NBA is obviously at a stand-still with any potential transactions, but McGrady would be an interesting veteran for the Lakers to gamble on if they can find the cap room for him. He's clearly thinking about playing for a contender at this stage of his career, and he proved in Detroit during the 2010-11 season that he can still contribute by averaging 10.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists while playing an average of 27 minutes in 39 games as a starter.
