Fri Jan 24 201422:33Greivis Vasquez can't hit shots vs. Sixers
Greivis Vaquez played 22 minutes off the bench during Friday's 104-95 win over the Sixers, scoring two points with two boards, seven assists and one turnover.
The Raptors are going more of a two-point guard lineup, which is nothing new for Kyle Lowry or Vasquez. His minutes have been on the upswing lately, so considering his output in assists, he's worth a look in standard leagues.

Wed Jan 22 201423:28Greivis Vasquez stays hot with 17 in win
Greivis Vasquez stayed hot on Wednesday with 17 points, two rebounds, seven assists, three steals and three 3-pointers on 5-of-13 shooting.
Kyle Lowry didn't have it tonight (0-for-10), while Terrence Ross and John Salmons have been useless for the Raptors during the resurgence of Vasquez. Over his last three games, GV is averaging 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.3 3-pointers. The Raptors have been shying away from Salmons and Ross, allowing Vasquez to play shooting guard and DeMar DeRozan to play small forward. There's no guarantee that Vasquez will stay this hot, but he's worth picking up in case it happens.

Mon Jan 20 201419:27Greivis Vasquez looks great off the bench
Greivis Vasquez had his best game as a Raptor on Monday with 15 points, seven boards, nine assists, one steal and three 3-pointers in 24 minutes.
It was one of Kyle Lowry's worst games in a while and he just didn't have it on either end today. Vasquez does have two solid games in a row following his 11-point outing on Sunday, but he still has a long way to go from taking minutes away from Lowry and the Raptors can't go with the small-ball backcourt of GV and Lowry too often. He's not quite worth owning in standard leagues until there are some Kyle Lowry trade rumors, which seems doubtful at this point. Lowry finished with 21 points, four boards, four assists and three 3-pointers on 9-of-22 shooting.

Mon Jan 13 201422:59Vasquez goes for eight and four with two 3PMs
Greivis Vasquez scored eight points on 3-of-5 shooting (including two threes) with four assists and four turnovers in 21 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Discounting the four giveaways he had a bunch of big plays late and this is just a random reminder that the Raps could trade Lowry and slide Vasquez into the starting spot. Given the lack of smoke on that front we're calling him a low-end stash best suited for deeper formats at this time.

Sat Jan 11 201423:25Greivis Vasquez disappearing for Raptors
Greivis Vasquez was quiet against the Nets on Saturday with two points, one board, three assists, one steal and one turnover.
The Raptors are playing well and the talk of them keeping Kyle Lowry seems legitimate. Consequently, Vasquez's fantasy value drops with every win the Raptors earn, so he can be let loose until the trade rumors start up again.

Sat Dec 21 201301:03Vasquez scores 14 points with two assists
Greivis Vasquez scored 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting but had just two rebounds and zero assists in 15 minutes of Friday's overtime win.
Vasquez is a speculative hold with the hope that Kyle Lowry gets traded, but there's no telling when or if that will happen and it's unclear what his upside would be playing next to capable players, unlike much of his time in New Orleans.

Fri Dec 20 201311:19Greivis Vasquez in line for minutes increase?
Raptors coach Dwane Casey said that he may play more two point guard sets with Greivis Vasquez and Kyle Lowry.
After only 17 minutes of playing time in each of his first two games with his new team, the NBA's third-leading assist man last season saw his minutes jump to 29 during Wednesday's loss to Charlotte. "We did that to get more ball movement and body movement, more pick-and-rolls," Casey said of using Vasquez and Kyle Lowry at the same time. "We could go to that and we will go to that to promote ball movement." It remains to be seen if Casey will stick to this plan, but Vasquez is one of the taller point guards in the NBA, so he is worth a pickup if Casey does decide play Vasquez and Lowry together more often (especially with trade rumors surrounding Lowry).

Wed Dec 18 201323:18Greivis Vasquez plays 29 minutes in loss
Greivis Vasquez came off the bench and played 29 minutes for the Raptors on Wednesday, but hit just 4-of-15 shots to finish with nine points and eight assists.
Kyle Lowry played 41 minutes in the OT loss and had 17 points, four rebounds, six assists, two steals, a block and three 3-pointers on 6-of-14 shooting, so it looks like the point guard job is still firmly in his hands. But given tonight's appearance by Vasquez, he could be ready to see a boost in minutes as a backup shooting guard. Just keep your eye on him. And on a side note, Vasquez should be held with rumors about Lowry possibly being traded still swirling a bit.

Sat Dec 14 201323:56Greivis Vasquez plays just 17 minutes
Greivis Vasquez played just 17 minutes off the bench on Saturday with seven points, one rebound, six assists and no turnovers against the Bulls.
It's nice line and a reminder that no player accounted for more assists than Vasquez did last year. There are a lot of credible rumors going around about Kyle Lowry being traded, so Vasquez should be owned in all leagues as more of a high-upside stash. He'll still be able to put up some low-level value as a backup, though.

Fri Dec 13 201321:53Greivis Vasquez scores 12 off Raps bench
Greivis Vasquez made his Raptors debut on Friday and had 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, a steal and two 3-pointers on 5-of-7 shooting in 17 minutes.
With all the trade rumors concerning Kyle Lowry, Vasquez should be owned in most leagues until we find out if Lowry will be moved or not.

Thu Dec 12 201313:25Greivis Vasquez cleared to play Friday
Greivis Vasquez has been cleared to play against the 76ers on Friday after having some issues with his visa.
Now that Vasquez has been allowed to cross the border, he'll be available for Friday's game against the Sixers and will assume his backup point guard role behind Kyle Lowry. Vasquez will need an injury to Lowry to become worth owning in shallower leagues, but can still be a solid source of assists for owners in deeper leagues even if Lowry is healthy.

Mon Dec 9 201317:55New Raptors won't play vs. Spurs Tuesday
General manager Masai Ujiri said there was "no chance" his new players will be available for Tuesday's game against the Spurs.
That means Greivis Vasquez, John Salmons, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes won't be suiting up. Terrence Ross and Steve Novak picked up most of the slack and the Raptors even had a lineup that had Ross and Novak at the forward spots. Vasquez loses some value in this deal and would likely need an injury to Kyle Lowry to have value worth owning in 10-team leagues.

Sun Dec 8 201319:32Greivis Vasquez heads to Raptors in Gay trade
Greivis Vasquez was traded to the Raptors as part of Sunday's seven-player deal centered around Rudy Gay.
Vasquez has a $3.2 million qualifying offer for next season and it will be interesting to see how his arrival impact Kyle Lowry, who is in the final year of his deal and has been playing without a legitimate backup PG all season. It's possible that Dwane Casey will play the two guards together at times, shifting DeMar DeRozan or Terrence Ross to SF, but it's safe to assume that K-Low will see a mild reduction in minutes and assists with a new playmaker in town. Vasquez has already been mired in a minute-share all season and his value shouldn't change drastically while Lowry is installed as the starting PG.

Sun Dec 1 201321:29Vasquez plays 14 minutes, IT2 gets 34 minutes
Greivis Vasquez only played 14 minutes in Sunday's tough loss to the Warriors, while backup Isaiah Thomas posted 19 points and eight assists in 34 minutes.
Mike Malone isn't afraid to ride whichever players are hot on a given night, and Vasquez's lack of defensive resistance may have sealed his fate against the Warriors' explosive backcourt. The Kings' schedule is unrelenting and he'll be asked to keep Russell Westbrook in check on Tuesday. Good luck.

Sat Nov 30 201305:26Vasquez goes for 11 and seven in loss
Greivis Vasquez scored 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting with three rebounds, seven assists and two threes in the Kings' 104-98 overtime loss to the Clippers.
Vasquez got all the minutes tonight (36) as the first unit was playing well and Isaiah Thomas had four giveaways, while the Clippers surprisingly didn't use Darren Collison to blow by him on the defensive end. Vasquez is averaging just 0.4 combined blocks and steals per game and he's clinging to 12-team value by a thread. There are higher upside targets for fantasy owners to go after and we expect Thomas to be the better fantasy play all year.

Sun Nov 24 201323:53Vasquez scores 20 points in bounce-back game
Greivis Vasquez, who scored only two points on Saturday, bounced back with 20 points, two 3-pointers, three rebounds and seven assists in Sunday's loss in L.A.
This marks the first time in six games that Vasquez has played 30+ minutes. He also has a not-so-grand total of five steals all year, and fantasy owners should use him cautiously as long as Isaiah Thomas (six points, four assists) is healthy and playing heavy minutes off the bench.

Sat Nov 23 201319:54Greivis Vasquez has his worst game
Greivis Vasquez had his worst game of the season on Saturday with two points, two assists and no turnovers in 15 minutes against the Clippers.
He didn't have the best of luck against Chris Paul last season with a stunning 5.7 turnovers per game in three outings last season. Vasquez couldn't get anything going against the Suns in his last two games either with just 12.0 points per game and 6.0 assists, so it's more than just CP3 that has caused him not to play well. His minutes have been on a downward trend for most of the season and with Isaiah Thomas playing lights out, Vasquez seems like a worse player to own than IT2.

Sun Nov 17 201320:36Vasquez struggles, IT2 shines again off bench
Greivis Vasquez played a season-low 19 minutes vs. the Grizzlies, finishing with eight points, three assists, one steal, and a +/- rating of -16.
The entire starting unit was a step slow tonight, whereas Sacramento's reserves had enough energy and offensive punch to make the game competitive in the second half. Isaiah Thomas (15 points, four assists) easily outplayed Vasquez again tonight, but Mike Malone has given no indication that he'll shift Vasquez to the bench.

Thu Nov 14 201302:31Greivis Vasquez double-doubles in win
Greivis Vasquez finally had the breakout game he's been promising, torching Deron Williams and the Nets for 17 points, four rebounds, 12 assists, a steal and two 3-pointers on 7-of-13 shooting Wednesday.
Even with the lineup shake up in Sacramento Vasquez is still the starter, and looked great tonight. He'll continue to split minutes with Isaiah Thomas, which means nights like this may be few and far between for Vasquez. Thomas had 19 points, six boards, six assists, a steal and two 3-pointers off the bench in 26 minutes tonight, and both players are worth owning in fantasy leagues.
