G Dion Waiters came off the bench to pour in 18 points and grab six rebounds.

G Dion Waiters earned a second straight start with his defense Friday against New York. "The thing I was most pleased with Dion in the game, he had a rough night shooting the ball, but I don't feel he let it impact his defense at all," Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. "It was his best defensive game of the year."

Waiters put up 19 points (6-9 FG, 3-3 3PT, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and two assists in a blowout win over Turkish side Fenerbahce on Friday.

Waiters can put up numbers like these, but usually against weaker competition. The former Syracuse player can be enraging to watch, as he takes some of the toughest shots possible, while dribbling the air out of the ball. He doesn't quite fit in with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, so his role will be to fill in when neither of them are on the floor and carry the scoring for the Thunder in those instances. Scoring is the only true category that Waiters can help owners with and that makes his value quite limited.

Waiters poured in 10 points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 23 minutes during Wednesday's preseason win over the Timberwolves.

As was the case for much of last season, the Thunder deployed the defensive-minded Andre Roberson as their starter, leaving Waiters to settle into a volume-shooting role off the bench. Waiters ended up averaging more minutes than Roberson in 2014-15, but with the Thunder likely to receive healthier seasons from offensive stars Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant this season, it's possible coach Billy Donovan will prioritize defense first among his complementary players. If that's the case, the minute distribution between Roberson and Waiters could be more even this season, or even tilt more in Roberson's favor.

Waiters shedded 10 pounds from his doughy figure this offseason and has been working on improving his outside shot this summer, the Oklahoman reports.

Waiters spent last offseason watching film of Dwyane Wade, and this time he's actually in the gym working on his catch-and-shoot jumper and shooting off the dribble, among other skills. He's also scheduled to workout with the Lakers' Kobe Bryant later this summer, and he aspires to lose more weight for the upcoming season.

Waiters' playing time could be curbed with the addition of rookie Cameron Payne to the Thunder's backcourt.

Waiters ended his first season in Oklahoma playing a substantial amount of minutes but first-year coach Billy Donovan could bring that trend to an end this coming season. The addition of Payne should affect D.J. Augustin's minutes more so than Waiters, but Waiters' workload could also be affected if the rookie proves his worth at shooting guard. Add Andre Roberson into the mix and it remains unclear exactly where the minutes will end up, leaving the value of Waiters in limbo until Donovan makes his intentions clear.

Waiters was traded from the Cavaliers to the Thunder on Jan. 5 and averaged 12.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 three-pointers, and 1.0 steal in 30.0 minutes per game across 47 appearances (20 starts) for Oklahoma City this season.

Waiters averaged 10.5 points and 2.2 assists in 33 games (three starts) for the Cavs prior to being traded to the Thunder. Once in Oklahoma City, Waiters was asked to provide a scoring punch to the Thunder's lineup, especially after Reggie Jackson was traded in February. Ultimately, Waiters averaged double-figures, but with a 39.2 field goal percentage, including just 31.9 percent from three-point range, Waiters' efficiency was sub-par. Additionally, he handled the ball less after arriving with the Thunder, causing his assist average to drop. While Waiters remains under contract with the Thunder next season, his fantasy value is mostly limited to his nightly point total, which sits at 14.0 through his first three NBA seasons.

Waiters (knee) played a team-high 40 minutes against the Kings on Friday. During that time on the court he collected 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Waiters was dealing with a minor knee injury ahead of Friday's game but it obviously didn't hold him back from playing significant minutes against the Kings. His performance seems to denote that he'll be in the clear moving forward as the Thunder try to capture the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Waiters had been battling a sore knee over the past few days, but coach Scott Brooks told the media Thursday that the guard is feeling better and should be good to go Friday. Waiters scored 10 points to go with four rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes against the Spurs on Tuesday.

Waiters (foot) posted 19 points, one rebound, and four assists in 40 minutes of action Wednesday against the Mavericks.

Waiters is averaging 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.6 three-pointers made over the last five games. Although he's a one-dimensional player, his contribution is still strong enough to warrant ownership in 14-man leagues or deeper.

Waiters (foot) went through shootaround Wednesday and will play against the Mavericks, the Oklahoman reports.

Waiters should be in the starting lineup at shooting guard. He's a decent daily games play with the Thunder buried in injuries, but Waiters is also a historically erratic player with many peaks and valleys, making him difficult to trust in fantasy when so much of his value relies on whether is shot is falling or not on a given night.

Waiters didn't practice Tuesday due to a foot issue, The Oklahoman reports.

Since joining the Thunder, Waiters has only made one appearance on the injury report with an ankle injury, which forced a missed practice but no DNP to date. Thus, he doesn't appear in danger of sitting out Wednesday against the Mavericks. In 15 games in March, he averaged 12.7 points (on 41 percent shooting), 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 0.9 three-pointers in 31 minutes.

Waiters scored three points (1-4 FG, 1-3) with two rebounds and two assists in the loss to the Jazz on Sunday.

Waiters was left on the bench in the fourth quarter in favor of Anthony Morrow as the Thunder tried to rally back from a 20-point 3rd quarter deficit. We're willing to write this off as one bad game since he's managed to reach double digits in scoring the four games prior, including a 23-point game against the Lakers and a 26-point performance against the Hawks in the past ten days. Waiters is a decent scoring option down the stretch in 12-team leagues.

Waiters posted 14 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 22 minutes of action Wednesday against the Spurs.

Waiters is averaging 16.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 three-pointers made over the last five games and has been producing solid value in standard league formats. He isn't the most efficient player, but he's certainly getting enough touches to contribute heavily in scoring.

Waiters posted 26 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks in 37 minutes of action Friday against the Hawks.

Waiters is averaging 14.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 three-pointers made over the last five games. His poor shooting from the field (38 percent) and line (73 percent) are damaging to his value, but he's still producing enough to be owned in 14-man leagues or deeper

Waiters contributed 12 points and one assist in Friday's 24-minute outing in the starting lineup against the Timberwolves.

Coach Scott Brooks decided to shake things up by moving Kyle Singler to the bench Friday. It's unclear if this will be a permanent fixture moving forward, but Waiters still only saw limited time on the court which doesn't make him a viable option in standard leagues.

Waiters will get the start at small forward Friday, The Oklahoman's Anthony Slater reports.

He slides in to replace Kyle Singler, as the Thunder look to add more scoring to the starting five with Serge Ibaka (knee) out. Waiters certainly isn't shy about shooting, but he only has double-digit points in one of his last five games, so there is significant risk here in daily leagues.

Waiters had 20 points (9-15, 1-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT), 10 rebounds and three assists in 39 minutes in Wednesday's overtime win over the 76ers.

After two sub-par games, averaging 8.0 points with 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 28 minutes, Waiters came on strong in a favorable matchup with Philadelphia. His previous seashon-high for rebounds was seven. He'll face the banged up Chicago Bulls and look for a repeat performance on Thursday.
