Pistons writer Vincent Ellis projects Luigi Datome as the backup SF behind Josh Smith this season.

Datome is 25 years and he's already been playing professionally in Italy for 10 years. He averaged a career-high 16.4 points last year, while shooting 39.4 percent from downtown, so it's not far-fetched to think that he'll carve out a reliable bench role. Any minutes he earns will come at the expense of Jonas Jerebko and/or Kyle Singler.
