Sat Jul 7 201218:40Marcus Camby cancels Saturday visit w/ Heat
Marcus Camby canceled Saturday's scheduled visit with the Heat because, after signing Ray Allen, Miami can no longer offer him their $3.1 million mini-mid-level exception.
Camby will visit the Knicks on Sunday, he may follow that with a visit to the Nets, and the Spurs are also in play for the veteran center. The Heat aren't completely out of the running, but they'll have to work out a sign-and-trade with the Rockets to pay Camby what he's demanding (and Houston's desire for Miami's assets is questionable).

Sat Jul 7 201217:12Knicks have edge over Heat for Marcus Camby?
The Rockets are reportedly non interested in a sign-and-trade with the Heat for Marcus Camby, potentially giving the Knicks the inside track for Camby.
Houston would be willing to work a sign-and-trade for Camby, or the Knicks could give him their $3.1 million mini-mid-level exception -- either way he'd make more than Miami could offer him (without a sign-and-trade, they're restricted to the $1.4 million veteran's minimum. The Spurs are also a contender for his services, and the Rockets aren't entirely out of the running.

Sat Jul 7 201209:58Knicks, Bulls both want Camby sign-and-trade
The Knicks are expected to meet with Marcus Camby this week, and are reportedly more interested in a sign-and-trade than in offering him their full $3.1 million mini-mid-level exception.
Camby is also being pursued by the Heat, who would also need to engineer a sign-and-trade to pay him more than the $1.4 million veteran's minimum. By not making Camby a substantial offer themselves, the Rockets are putting a lot of faith in the notion that Chicago won't match their backloaded offer for Omer Asik.

Sat Jul 7 201200:46HOU, MIA angling toward Camby sign-and-trade
The Rockets are open to a sign-and-trade with the Heat for free agent Marcus Camby.
The Heat have only the veteran minimum to work with right now, but could conceivably send back a combination of players, picks, and cash to Houston and offer Camby a salary that he'll deem acceptable. Shane Battier and Joel Anthony's names have been kicked around as possible assets to send back to Houston, but nothing substantive has come out on that front.

Fri Jul 6 201215:48Heat, Knicks looking at F/C Marcus Camby
According to sources, Free agent F/C Marcus Camby has a meeting set with the Heat on Saturday and the Knicks shortly thereafter.
At this point a return to the Rockets looks unlikely, and there won't be any interest shown by Houston until after they find out a decision on if the Bulls will match their $25 million offer given to fellow free agent center Omer Asik. Camby is said to only be interested in the $3 million exception, not the veteran's minimum. Camby's unique fantasy skill set (rebounds and blocks) would register better in Miami than New York, but stay tuned to find out where the Cambyman lands.

Mon Jul 2 201215:00Report: Marcus Camby still prefers Rockets
Marcus Camby reportedly prefers to sign with the Rockets, but he may not be able to delay his decision until July 14, when Omer Asik's offer sheet would be finalized.
Camby wants a 2-3 year contract and would be willing to split minutes with Asik, and if Houston offers a reasonable salary he could choose them over his other targets -- the Heat, Celtics, Spurs, Mavericks and Knicks.

Sun Jul 1 201220:22Free agent Camby hunting for a contender
Marcus Camby told Blazers beat writer Chris Haynes that he is interested in playing for the Celtics, Spurs, Heat, Mavs, or Knicks.
That list does not include the Rockets, which isn't surprising given their restructuring and offer to Omer Asik. As usual, Camby will offer spurts of productivity mixed in with periods of inactivity due to injury wherever he lands.

Fri Jun 22 201209:21Rockets planning to re-sign Marcus Camby
The Rockets plan to re-sign unrestricted free agent Marcus Camby, league sources tell Fox 26 Houston.
Samuel Dalembert's name has been swirling in some trade rumors, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Houston make an effort to retain the veteran. After being obtained at the trade deadline, Camby made his presence felt for the Rockets and worked his way into a starting role. In 19 regular season games with the Rockets, Camby averaged 7.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 24 minutes per game.

Wed May 30 201216:17Marcus Camby hopes to play 3 more seasons
Marcus Camby hopes to play three more seasons in the NBA, and would like to re-sign with the Rockets.
Camby isn't exactly the superstar the Rockets have been trying to land for years, but it makes a ton of sense to retain the 38-year-old at a reasonable price. He was very effective last season and even played through a chronically sore back and torn wrist ligaments, both of which should have healed when training camp begins.

Thu Apr 26 201208:45Marcus Camby wants to re-sign in Houston
Marcus Camby said that he would like to re-sign with the Rockets.
"I would like to be here, but I understand the NBA is a business," he said. Camby seized the starting role from Samuel Dalembert upon his arrival in Houston, and averaged 7.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 24 minutes per game.

Wed Apr 25 201213:47Marcus Camby not expected to play Thursday
Marcus Camby (back) is not expected to play on Thursday against the Hornets.
Camby has played less than 24 minutes in each of his last two games and won't play in the regular season finale. Samuel Dalembert should draw the start in Camby's place, and he's averaged 8.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 44 games as a starter this year.

Sat Apr 21 201222:53Marcus Camby gives Rockets solid 24 minutes
Playing through his back injury, Marcus Camby contributed four points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks in Saturday's essential victory vs. the Warriors.
The Rockets need to win out and get some luck (i.e. Suns' losses) in order to sneak into the playoffs. Camby will give the team whatever his body will allow, but a loss to Miami on Sunday might lead the Rockets to rest him for Thursday's season finale.

Thu Apr 19 201222:41Camby guts out 14-7-4 line; leaves game late
Marcus Camby gutted out another game playing through his back injury, scoring 14 points with seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal before finally giving way during the fourth quarter after 27 minutes of action.
Seeing 38-year old Camby put his body on the line in an attempt to win the No. 8 seed is a reminder of what real players do at this time of the year. Not only is he dealing with a severe back injury, but his wrist injury could also legitimately hold him out of action, too. The Rockets are going to lose tonight, and they'll fall at to a full game back of Utah for the eight slot. Samuel Dalembert is worth consideration if Camby gets ruled out going forward.

Thu Apr 19 201219:39Marcus Camby listed as starter, still iffy
Marcus Camby (back) is listed as the starter for Thursday's game against the Hornets, but beat writer Jonathan Feigen cautions that he is still a game-time decision.
The Rockets are in a must-win game against one of the league's worst teams, and if he plays he should be in most lineups after proving his value over the last few weeks. There is some risk of an in-game aggravation or an early hook if the Rockets can go up big, but after five losses in a row nobody should be counting on that. Stay tuned for updates in this blurb. Kevin Martin is reportedly "available," but nobody knows if he will play.

Thu Apr 19 201219:20Camby (back) a game-time decision vs. NO
Marcus Camby (back) is a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Hornets.
With the Rockets fighting for their playoff lives, if Camby has anything to give he's going to go. Samuel Dalembert would be worth a look if Camby cannot play.

Wed Apr 18 201223:56Camby grabs 17 rebounds despite back injury
Despite being listed as doubtful earlier in the day, Marcus Camby (back) was able to start against the Mavericks and recorded a double-double with 11 points, 17 rebounds and a steal.
Camby played 36 minutes tonight and didn't appear to aggravate the back injury. While the injury could flare up at anytime, he is a must-start player when active.

Wed Apr 18 201220:45Marcus Camby starting for Rockets
Marcus Camby is listed as the starting center for the Rockets on Wednesday.
He could be pulled just beore tip off and could really struggle through his back injury, but it sounds like he's going to give it a shot.

Wed Apr 18 201213:34Marcus Camby doubtful to play Wednesday
Updating a previous item, Marcus Camby (back) is doubtful to play on Wednesday against the Mavericks.
Samuel Dalmebert (back) is probable and will likely draw another start. Sammy D has averaged 8.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game when starting, so he should be safe to use in lineups with Camby still ailing.

Tue Apr 17 201216:38Marcus Camby questionable for Wednesday
Marcus Camby (back) remains questionable for Wednesday's game against the Mavs.
Camby missed practice Tuesday in order to get treatment. Coach Kevin McHale said he's not sure if his starting center will be ready or not. If Camby can't go, Sam Dalembert (probable, back) will start.
