Wed Mar 27 201301:11Mike James fouls out in OT win over Clippers
Starting point guard Mike James had 10 points, four rebounds, six assists and two 3-pointers on 4-of-8 shooting before fouling out of Tuesday's overtime win against the Clippers.
James has been instrumental in Dallas' march toward a playoff berth, and they are now tied with the Jazz, sitting one game behind the Lakers for the final playoff spot in the West. James has also become a useful fantasy player and the Mavericks play on Thursday and Saturday, meaning you'll be able to use him in a daily league if you need bodies for those lighter NBA days.

Sun Mar 24 201322:34Mavericks win behind 19 points from M. James
The Mavericks won their second straight game behind 19 points and five assists from Mike James, who knocked down 7-of-10 shots with three 3-pointers in 32 minutes.
The win pulled Dallas even with Utah at 34-36, though both teams still trail the eighth-place Lakers by 1.5 games. Rick Carlisle has an affinity for James' veteran leadership and there are no indications that Darren Collison (13 points, five assists) will retake the starting PG job this season.

Thu Mar 21 201300:46Mike James goes for 12 & 7 in loss to Nets
Mike James had 12 points, seven assists and four 3-pointers in Wednesday's loss to the Nets.
Darren Collison didn't have it cooking tonight like he did on Tuesday, so James bounced back. As long as he's the starting point guard for the Mavs, he's worth keeping an eye on in fantasy. But there is no avoiding a timeshare with Collison here.

Sun Mar 17 201322:23Mike James scores season-high 14 points
Mike James scored a season-high 14 points with two 3-pointers, three rebounds and four assists on Sunday, despite a tough matchup against Russell Westbrook.
The 37-year-old journeyman finds himself at the helm of a Mavericks team which remains three games out of the playoffs. His role became even more solid when Roddy Beaubois left tonight's game with a fractured finger, and he's worth a look if you could use a handful of 3-pointers and assists.

Thu Mar 14 201322:42Mike James gets 35 minutes vs. the Spurs
Mike James played 35 minutes against the Spurs on Thursday, scoring 10 points with five assists, one steal and two 3-pointers.
He's coming off a season-high 31 minutes on Tuesday and he broke it tonight. James and the Mavericks have been very efficient on offense in their previous two games, but since it came against the favorable matchups of Houston and Milwaukee, the stats are skewed a bit. That said, it was the first loss for Dallas with Mike James starting and he's picking up some steam as an asset for PG-needy owners.

Tue Mar 12 201323:47Mike James scores 13 points in 31 minutes
Mike James played a season-high 31 minutes against the Bucks on Tuesday, scoring 13 points with six boards, seven assists and one 3-pointer.
He also had season highs in points, boards and assists in what was by far his best game. Darren Collison did miss some time with an eye injury, so that helps explain James' bigger allotment. He's only in a timeshare split with Collison, so he's not quite worth a look in standard leagues just yet. Although, the Mavericks have won every game in which James started.

Fri Mar 8 201323:29Mike James scores 12 points in start
Mike James got his second start in a row on Friday, scoring 12 points with one board, three assists and four 3-pointers in 28 minutes against the Pistons.
James was terrific in the fourth quarter and hit three big triples to help propel Dallas to the victory. His upside is nothing more than a timeshare with Darren Collison, so he's only worth keeping an eye on in most formats. Collison wasn't too bad off the bench with 11 points and eight assists in 29 minutes, so he's still worth holding in standard leagues.

Wed Mar 6 201320:42Mike James will start vs. Houston Wednesday
Mike James will start at point guard against the Rockets on Wednesday.
Darren Collison will move to the bench and this news comes out of the blue. Collison has been struggling and coach Rick Carlisle hasn't been bashful about bringin DC off the bench. Collison's owners shouldn't panic and he should still get plenty of minutes. Mike James is only worth a look in very deep leagues.

Sat Jan 26 201309:58Cuban expects to keep James after 10-day deal
Mark Cuban expects to keep G Mike James after his second 10-day contract expires.
Two 10-day deals is the max a player can sign under this CBA, so the Mavs either have to sign James for the rest of this season or let him walk. "So far, so good. No reason to think otherwise at this point," Cuban said. James has averaged 3.3 points, 1.1 assists and 1.0 rebounds in eight games as Darren Collison's backup. His contract expires Sunday at midnight.

Sun Jan 13 201300:04Mike James plays just eight minutes
Mike James was scoreless with no stats to his credit on Saturday, playing eight minutes off the Mavs' bench.
Rick Carlisle is fond of James, and he may carve out a bigger role in the rotation, but the veteran journeyman is not a threat to Darren Collison's fantasy value.

Fri Jan 11 201301:04Mike James makes debut with the Mavericks
Mike James made his season debut with the Mavericks on Thursday against the Kings, scoring two points with one rebound and one steal in 15 minutes.
He was with the Bulls last season and didn't really make a splash outside of a 16-point outing in February. James has sent Dominique Jones out of the rotation and surprisingly got some minutes down the stretch, so it wouldn't be a complete shock to see him take over as the starter much like Derek Fisher did earlier this year. To be clear, he is only on the radar in deep leagues.

Mon Jan 7 201315:08Mavericks to sign Mike James on 10-day deal
The Mavericks will sign Mike James to 10-day contract this week.
Rick Carlisle clearly isn't sold on Darren Collison as a starter, but it's hard to imagine the 37-year-old James as anything but a temporary backup PG for the Mavs.

Thu Jan 3 201316:31Mike James headed for D-League
Mike James is signing with the Texas Legends of the D-League in hopes of eventually joining the Mavericks.
James reportedly has no guarantees from Dallas, so he'll attempt to use the D-League to show he has something left. The 37-year-old likely wouldn't be in line for major minutes in Dallas, but he could potentially cut into Darren Collison's heavy minutes of late. With little competition for playing time, Collison has averaged 37 minutes and 17.2 points in his last five games.

Tue Jul 10 201210:32Mike James on Knicks radar as 3rd-stringer?
NBA journeyman Mike James could be on the Knicks' radar as a 3rd-string point guard.
James has a long history of injuries in his nine-season NBA career, and he spent most of last season on the Knicks' D-League affiliate in Erie, where he averaged 21.1 points, 2.1 threes, 3.7 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.1 steals. He won't have fantasy value even with Derrick Rose recovering from knee surgery.

Bulls signed G Mike James to a 10-day contract.
An expected move, James will act as insurance with Derrick Rose (groin) a bit hobbled at the moment. It's possible that the veteran could stick for the remainder of the season.

Wed Mar 14 201209:53Bulls set to announce signing of Mike James
The Bulls are "set to announce" the signing of Mike James.
James will be back with the Bulls with Derrick Rose (groin) very iffy for Wednesday's game against Miami. He'll serve as insurance policy and could see immediate action on Wednesday assuming he's active if Rose is forced to sit.
