Fri Apr 25 201422:14Nene ejected for altercation w/ Jimmy Butler
Nene was ejected in the fourth quarter of Friday's game for an altercation with Jimmy Butler.
They were lightly touching each other after a basket, then all of the sudden Nene literally went face to face with Jimmy. He touched Butler's head and the two got into it, but no punches were thrown. Nene finished with 10 points, four boards, three assists, two steals and five turnovers. He'll likely get a fine and it wouldn't be a total shock to see him get suspended.

Wed Apr 23 201400:38Nene goes for 17 & 7 before fouling out
Nene had 17 points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block before fouling out in overtime of Tuesday's Game 2 win over the Bulls in Chicago, giving the Wiz a 2-0 lead.
The Wizards have never won the first two games of a playoff series on the road and are squarely positioned to take out the Bulls in Round 1. The winner of this one gets the Pacers or Hawks, and it's starting to look the Wizards have a real chance to find themselves playing for a championship this season. Nene is surely sore after playing well in both games, but we'd be shocked if he needs to rest as long as the Wizards keep winning.

Tue Apr 22 201415:09Nene (knee) says he is "sore" after Game 1
Nene (knee) said he is feeling "sore" on Tuesday after playing 35 minutes in Game 1 against the Bulls.
Nene was an absolute beast in the post against the Bulls, including defensive player of the year Joakim Noah. But playing 35 minutes may have taken a toll on the injured knee that cost him almost six weeks of the regular season. Still, Nene knows his team will need another stellar performance in Game 2 on Tuesday if they hope to take a 2-0 series lead. "Basketball is physical. A lot of physicality in the post, especially in my position," he said. "But when the ball goes up, you forget about that and you focus on what you can do to help your team and forget about the sore, about the pain."

Sun Apr 20 201421:56Nene's 24 points help Wizards steal Game 1
Nene started on Sunday for the first time since spraining his MCL in late February, finishing the Wizards' Game 1 victory with 24 points on 11-of-17 shooting, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
Nene had insisted on playing no more than 20 minutes once he returned from his injury, but he logged 35 minutes on Sunday and his conditioning didn't seem to be a problem. He feasted on the Bulls with a sequence of wide open mid-range jumpers and he was the key to stealing home court advantage. That's no big surprise since the Wizards had a 30-23 record with Nene in the lineup this season, but just 14-15 without him.

Sun Apr 20 201418:24Nene listed as starter on Sunday night
Nene is listed as a starter against the Bulls for Game 1 on Sunday.
He's been coming off the bench in the past four games since returning from injury and the Wizards seem to be comfortable putting him back in his usual role. Nene runs the offense quite a bit to take some pressure of John Wall and the team will need him to stay on the court in this series.

Sun Apr 20 201414:02Nene could start in Game 1 vs. Chicago
Nene was spotted in a blue practice jersey on Saturday, which suggests that he was practicing with the first unit and could start on Sunday vs. Chicago.
Neither Nene nor Wizards coach Randy Wittman gave a definitive answer as to whether Nene would start or not, but given the need for Nene's interior presence it wouldn't be shocking to see the Brazilian big man start.

Wed Apr 16 201414:10Nene to play under 20 minutes on Wednesday
Nene will play on Wednesday but he has "insisted" that the Wizards keep him under 20 minutes.
He recently returned from a sprained MCL which he tweaked in his first game back, and Washington will proceed with due caution. He would sit out entirely if there were nothing at stake, but a win combined with a Nets loss would shift Washington up a seed in the playoff standings.

Mon Apr 14 201421:50Nene plays well off the bench in 24 minutes
Nene returned from a one-game absence on Monday vs. the Heat with 18 points, four boards, two assists, one steal and one block in 24 minutes.
He made 8-of-12 from the field and looked healthy in the win. Nene rested the second half of a back-to-back set on Saturday and should be considered questionable for Wednesday. The team will probably want to win that game to avoid becoming the seventh seed and face the Heat.

Sat Apr 12 201418:28Nene out Saturday for rest, not knee injury
Nene will sit out Saturday's game to get some rest, and his absence isn't directly related to the sprained MCL from which he returned on Friday.
Nene tweaked his knee on Friday and the Wizards may simply be playing it safe, but it's being billed as a "rest" day for the veteran big man. Marcin Gortat and Trevor Booker will retain their usual roles in the starting lineup vs. the hapless Bucks.

Fri Apr 11 201422:23Nene looks better in 20 minutes on Friday
Nene suffered a very minor knee injury on Friday and it didn't cost him playing time, finishing with 17 points, three boards, two assists, one steal and one block in 20 minute.
This was a big improvement from Wednesday and he put forth quite an effort on most of his field goals. Chances are tonight's game will be enough to move him back into the starting lineup for the next game, but the back-to-back factor and playing the Bucks could actually find him in street clothes. If we knew for sure he was playing on Saturday, he'd be a decent pickup.

Wed Apr 9 201422:04Nene plays 17 minutes in return
Nene returned from an extended absence with a knee injury and had 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting in 17 minutes of action.
Nene is back, but it's probably too little, too late for him to help fantasy owners. And given that Trevor Booker had 16 points and five blocks, and Marcin Gortat had a monster line, Nene is probably just going to focus on getting his 20 minutes a night and getting ready for the playoffs.

Wed Apr 9 201417:33Nene (knee) will return for Wednesday night
Nene (knee) will return to the lineup against the Bobcats on Wednesday.
His knee injury has kept him out since Feb. 23 and the Wizards got some much-needed production out of guys like Drew Gooden while Nene was down. Chances are the team will keep his minutes in check due to how often he's been hurt in his career, so he's certainly a risky option in fantasy leagues. Owners of Gooden and Trevor Booker might want to look elsewhere for production tonight.

Tue Apr 8 201416:36Nene (knee) may return to action Wednesday
Nene (sprained MCL) may return to action on Wednesday, and if he does play he'll come off the bench and play limited minutes.
He has "general body soreness" but didn't have any setbacks after practicing fully on Monday and Tuesday, so there's a good chance we'll see him in action vs. the Bobcats. His return is a huge lift for the playoff-bound Wizards, but he may not play enough minutes to aid fantasy owners in the final five games of the regular season.

Mon Apr 7 201413:05Nene (knee) could return vs. Bobcats on Wed.
Nene (knee) practiced fully on Monday and he could return as soon as Wednesday's game vs. the Bobcats.
Multiple beat writers have informally mentioned Wednesday as a target return date, and it sounds like Nene is on pace after ramping up his activity without any setbacks over the past week. Coach Randy Wittman hasn't yet decided if Nene will come off the bench or start at PF in place of Trevor Booker.

Sat Apr 5 201413:39Nene (knee) most likely to come off bench
Wizards coach Randy Wittman isn't sure whether Nene (knee) will start or come off the bench when he returns, which could be as soon as Wednesday.
There is no official return date for Nene but he's "getting closer" and should at least return during the regular season. "Like when he came back from injury the first time, [we will consider] bringing him off the bench, maybe," Wittman said. "But we'll have to look at it, see where he's at, what he's thinking and how he would like to have that transpire, too." Trevor Booker, Al Harrington and Drew Gooden all stand to lose playing time upon Nene's return.

Thu Apr 3 201409:57Nene (knee) could return Wednesday vs. CHA
Nene (sprained MCL) could return to action as soon as Wednesday's game vs. the Bobcats.
This report implies that Nene will sit out on Friday and Saturday, but he'll have at least a handful of games to regain his conditioning before the Wizards enter the playoffs for the first time since 2008. It's uncertain whether he'll come off the bench or take the starting PF job from Trevor Booker, but either way his return comes too late to help most fantasy owners.

Mon Mar 31 201412:17Nene (knee) travels w/ Wizards to Charlotte
Nene (knee) is traveling with the Wizards for Monday's game vs. the Bobcats.
Nene has resumed light on-court workouts and he's targeting a return in early April, so joining the team for their short road trip is simply another step toward his return. Trevor Booker will likely lose his starting job upon Nene's return, while guys like Drew Gooden and Kevin Seraphin will have a harder time earning minutes off the bench.

Thu Mar 27 201413:50Nene undergoes light workout on Thursday
Nene (knee) took part in a light workout with a trainer during Thursday's practice.
Nene wore a brace and reportedly moved well during his solo workout with trainers. He's still targeting an early April return and this workout is a step in the right direction towards that goal. The Wizards will likely manage his minutes upon his return so fantasy owners shouldn't go hog-wild picking him up, but a Nene return would likely put a dent in the fantasy value of the likes of Trevor Booker, Kevin Seraphin, and Drew Gooden.

Wed Mar 26 201409:19Nene (MCL) may return early- or mid-April
Nene (sprained MCL) is targeting a return in early April, though he has yet to begin weight-bearing exercises.
He could resume practicing as soon as next week, according to the Washington Post, with a potential return date of April 9 vs. the Bobcats. "It's four weeks [since the injury]," said coach Randy Wittman. "No setbacks, everything is moving good." He was averaging 16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks in four games after the All-Star break, but fantasy owners should probably avoid him since a return on April 9 would give him a mere five regular-season games.

Tue Mar 25 201414:17Nene (MCL) running on anti-gravity treadmill
Nene (sprained MCL) is no longer using crutches and he's been running on an anti-gravity treadmill without any setbacks.
Patient progress is all we can expect from Nene, and Yahoo! Sports reported that he might return "after the first week of April." In the meantime, Marcin Gortat and Trevor Booker will continue to start in the frontcourt with Kevin Seraphin and Drew Gooden providing bench support.
