Mon Dec 9 201300:32Wes Johnson scores two points in loss to TOR
Wes Johnson scored only two points in Sunday's loss to the visiting Raptors -- he attempted three shots and grabbed three rebounds in 25 minutes of action.
Johnson's value this season has been predicated upon 45.3 percent shooting from downtown, but Kobe Bryant's return presents a huge question mark for guys like Johnson, Jodie Meeks and Nick Young. Mike D'Antoni is ready and willing to play whichever guy is hot on a given night, setting up Johnson as a boom-or-bust fantasy option.

Sat Dec 7 201303:48Wesley Johnson scores 13 points in win
Wes Johnson scored 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including three treys) with two rebounds, two assists, five steals and a block over 32 minutes in Friday's win against the Kings.
Johnson has been a sneaky mid-round value this season on the strength of 1.5 threes, 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Things are going to get tougher with Kobe Bryant around, but there's enough here to like to hang on and see how things go.

Sat Nov 30 201300:36Wes Johnson gets hot in Detroit for 27 points
Wes Johnson matched his career-high six 3-pointers against the Pistons on Friday, scoring 27 points with six boards, two assists and three blocks on 9-of-11 shooting.
He's had his ups and downs in his NBA career and he just missed his career high of 29 points. Johnson scored just four points in his last game and scored only 6.0 points per game in his previous 10 outings. The 26-year-old swingman has been able to muster up some value this season with averages of 1.2 triples, 1.4 blocks and 1.1 steals, so he's worth a look in standard leagues. Even with the high upside, his prospective owners just need to remember he is full of disappointments and has several more on the way.

Wed Nov 13 201302:32Wes Johnson scores five in start for Lakers
Wes Johnson was a surprise starter at small forward for the Lakers on Tuesday and had five points and five rebounds in 21 minutes.
He was put into the starting five for his defense and despite the low production, played solid D for the Lakers. Nick Young, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar all look like better players to own right now, but that could change quickly if Johnson continues to start for Mike D'Antoni.

Tue Nov 12 201322:20Wes Johnson to start over Nick Young
Wes Johnson is starting at small forward for the Lakers on Tuesday, sending Nick Young to the bench.
So if you're keeping score at home, the Los Angeles Lakers' starting five tonight is Steve Blake, Jodie Meeks, Johnson, Jordan Hill and Pau Gasol, who has a sore left foot.

Fri Nov 8 201301:09Wes Johnson scores 16 points
Wes Johnson shot 6-of-15 from the field for 16 points with four boards, one steal, two blocks and three 3-pointers in 28 minutes off the bench on Thursday.
This is a typical Wes line when he's on. He can hit threes, get some steals and block some shots, but usually has sub-par shooting. The production in those categories probably makes Johnson the best Laker wing in fantasy, but that's not saying much.

Wed Oct 30 201302:38Wes Johnson stinks in LAL debut Tuesday
Wes Johnson shot 1-of-11 from the field in his debut with the Lakers on Tuesday, scoring three points with three boards, one assist, one block and one 3-pointer.
He's never been much of a shooter, making just 40.0 percent of his shots in his career. Johnson lost some ground tonight, but at least he was allowed to shoot the ball 11 times on an off night. If he does it again, that won't last long.

Wed Oct 23 201301:31Wes Johnson scores 14 off Lakers bench
Wes Johnson hit 5-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 14 points, six rebounds and two assists off the Lakers bench.
Johnson will battle with Nick Young for minutes at small forward, but in the end, the two players will likely hurt each other's fantasy value more than anything else. Johnson continues to work his way back from a foot injury and looked very good tonight.

Fri Oct 18 201310:06Wesley Johnson returns from foot issue
Wesley Johnson attempted just two shots in 14 minutes on Friday night, scoring five points with five boards.
He's been out of the lineup for almost two weeks with a foot injury and even received electro stimulation on the injury this month. Johnson should help the Lakers' depth this year while Kobe Bryant is working his way back to full strength, but he hasn't solidified his status as a late-round pick in standard leagues.

Tue Oct 15 201310:13Wes Johnson (foot) sits out Tuesday's game
Wes Johnson (foot) didn't play in Tuesday's preseason game in Beijing.
He's with the team but he remains questionable to play in Friday's rematch vs. the Lakers. The injury doesn't sound serious but it's costing Johnson precious opportunities to earn minutes in a rotation that (even without Kobe) features Nick Young, Steve Blake and Jodie Meeks.

Tue Oct 8 201320:53Wes Johnson (foot) won't play Tuesday
Wesley Johnson (foot) will not play against the Nuggets on Tuesday.
Johnson is listed as day-to-day with a strain in his foot and had no real shot to play. The team will get an extended look at Xavier Henry, who has arguably been the team's best player so far in preseason action.

Mon Oct 7 201320:38Wes Johnson (foot) day-to-day with strain
Wes Johnson was diagnosed with a strained tendon in his left foot and is listed as day-to-day.
The training staff was working on the back part of his foot after he exited Sunday night's game. It's good news that he didn't tear anything, but we'd expect him to miss some time to heal. His absence should help Xavier Henry get more time on the court, which makes him a good bet to make the team as long as he keeps up his productive play.

Sun Oct 6 201322:32Wes Johnson leaves w/ strained left foot
Wes Johnson left Sunday's exhibition vs. the Nuggets with a strained left foot, and he will not return.
We'll pass along updates as they become available. Johnson is in the mix at SG and SF this season, but both are reasonably deep positions once Kobe Bryant returns from his Achilles surgery. Johnson is little more than a 3-point specialist, even at 100 percent health.

Thu Oct 3 201316:55Postive reports in L.A. about Johnson's play
Lakers reporter Mike Trudell reported Thursday that positive reports continue to emerge regarding Wes Johnson's play.
It's training camp season and positive reports grow on trees, but it's a bit more interesting when the wing positions surrounding Kobe Bryant are as wide open as they are. Nick Young, Steve Blake and Jodie Meeks are all in the mix, and at least one of these guys will emerge with some low-end value. Mike D'Antoni has also mentioned that Johnson could see some minutes at PF, where the Lakers are also fairly shallow behind Jordan Hill.

Sun Jul 14 201302:01Lakers sign Wesley Johnson to one-year deal
The Lakers and Wesley Johnson have agreed on a one-year deal worth the veteran's minimum, according to beat writer Mike Bresnahan.
Johnson gives L.A. some insurance at the wing positions, along with Jodie Meeks and Nick Young, which is especially important with Kobe Bryant questionable for the Lakers' season opener. Minutes are available with Metta World Peace amnestied and both Antawn Jamison and Devin Ebanks expected to leave in free agency, but Johnson will remain a 3-point specialist in fantasy leagues.

Sun Jun 30 201312:37Suns will court Wes Johnson, but no big names
The Suns are not expected to pursue any top-tier free agents this summer, instead maintaining their salary-cap space to make a splash in 2014.
However, GM Ryan McDonough aims to "upgrade the team's perimeter shooting and athleticism during free agency." The Suns hope to re-sign Wes Johnson but beyond that it's unclear who they might pursue. "I think we'll target ... guys on a contract that is reasonable and fair for a guy who is younger and maybe on the upswing of his career. If we can't do that, we'll probably sit back and wait."

Thu Apr 4 201301:35Wes Johnson leads Suns w/ 20 points
Wes Johnson led the Suns with 20 points, four 3-pointers, three assists and one block in Wednesday's road loss to the Clips.
Johnson has five straight games with 10+ points, the longest streak in his career. He's also a combined 17-of-34 from downtown in the past five games, which is reason enough to scoop him off the waiver wire.

Mon Mar 25 201302:35Wes Johnson scores season-high 21 points
Wes Johnson scored a season-high 21 points with five 3-pointers in Sunday's tough loss to the Nets.
Johnson poured in 17 points during the third quarter alone, but he's too erratic for use in average leagues. Thus far in March, he's scoring 12.6 points on 40.9 percent shooting, with 1.4 triples, 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks per game, putting him on par with guys like Jerryd Bayless, Jason Terry and Luke Ridnour.

Sat Mar 23 201301:37Wes Johnson goes cold in blowout loss
Wes Johnson hit just 2-of-12 shots in the Suns' 117-86 blowout loss on Friday, scoring seven points with one rebound, four assists and a steal in 22 minutes.
The minutes were likely a result of the score as Johnson has been one of the more stable guys in Lindsey Hunter's random rotation, but this is how it goes for a low-end asset playing for a bad team. If you added him feel free to drop him, but don't be surprised if he returns to being the borderline standard league asset he was prior to tonight.
