Thu Mar 21 201302:48Wes Johnson scores 18 in another loss
Wes Johnson hit 8-of-18 shots for 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in Wednesday's loss to the Wizards.
Point guard Goran Dragic added 18 points and 11 assists on a night when Lindsey Hunter got mad at all the young guys on his team and benched them. Johnson has been playing very well and doesn't seem capable of landing in Hunter's doghouse right now, making him worth a look in many leagues. He had 14 points and nine boards in 37 minutes on Monday.

Tue Mar 19 201301:53Wes Johnson scores 14 points vs. Lakers
Wes Johnson played a team-high 37 minutes against the Lakers, scoring 14 points with nine boards, two steals, one block and one 3-pointer on 6-of-17 shooting.
He matched Luis Scola with the team high in scoring in a win. He had a couple quiet showings in his last two with just eight points on Saturday and six on Friday, so this output was somewhat surprising. Wes is worth a look in standard leagues and has upside.

Fri Mar 15 201308:41Wes Johnson gaining confidence as a starter
Wes Johnson is averaging 14.3 points, 0.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.3 3-pointers in four games since moving into the starting lineup.
Lindsey Hunter said the former fourth overall pick is "growing right before our eyes," and Johnson has played at least 30 minutes in three of the four games since he was promoted to the starting unit. Still only 25 years old, Johnson should get every opportunity to prove that he can be a long-term piece for a Suns team in desperate need of them. "I'm just trying to live up to my expectations for myself," Johnson said.

Thu Mar 14 201300:36Wes Johnson plays well in ugly Suns loss
Wes Johnson made his fourth straight start on Wednesday and had 15 points, two rebounds, three assists, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer on 7-of-13 shooting as the Suns were blown out by the Rockets.
He didn't commit a single turnover in 31 minutes and had alternated good games with bad ones in his previous eight games before tonight's strong line. Over his last nine, he's scored 15, 18, 5, 19, 5, 15, 8, 14 and 0 points, and has been a solid source of 3-pointers over the last couple weeks. He could disappear at any time, but has played well enough over the past couple weeks to make him worth a look in many leagues, as long as he sticks in the starting five for the Suns.

Tue Mar 12 201301:17Johnson scores 18 points in loss to DEN
Wes Johnson scored 18 points on 9-of-17 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds and one block over 33 minutes in the Suns' 108-93 loss to the Nuggets on Monday.
Johnson has averaged 28.9 minutes, 12.0 points, 1.7 threes, 4.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 0.6 blocks while shooting 43.2 percent from the field over his last seven games. That has been good enough for late-round value and while we're nowhere near sold on his long-term value, he's worth a look if you have somebody to drop.

Sun Mar 10 201300:31Wes Johnson vanishes in 15 minutes
Wes Johnson vanished on Saturday, scoring five points on 2-of-7 shooting in 15 minutes.
He made another start at SG but quickly took a backseat to Jared Dudley, who got hot off the gench. Johnson scored 19 points on Friday and he's still averaging 2.0 threes over the past six games, making him a major gamble as a 3-point specialist in the Suns' upcoming three-game week.

Sat Mar 9 201303:31Wes Johnson scores 19 points vs. Kings
Wes Johnson started at shooting guard against the Kings on Friday, scoring 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including three treys) with four rebounds, two steals and one block over 35 minutes.
Johnson has issues with consistency and has stepped out of solitary confinement over the past few weeks, and though he has a big window here to make some noise given the Suns' depth issues we're skeptical about who he did this to, what he's going to do next, and owners shouldn't drop anybody of real value just yet. But if you have some dead weight and you want to take a flier, be our guest. Jared Dudley sat on the other end of this pendulum rocking an 11-point, two-rebound line over 15 minutes.

Fri Mar 8 201322:14Wes Johnson and Morris twins start Friday
Wesley Johnson, Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris started for the Suns on Friday.
The Suns will need their identity to change with Marcin Gortat likely out for the year. They have the personnel to play an up-tempo game, but this is something that will likely have its fair share of growing pains. All three of the new starters are worth looks in standard leagues. Marcus Morris has the highest upside while Markieff Morris seems like the safest bet for production.

Tue Mar 5 201309:35Wesley Johnson admits confidence is growing
Wes Johnson admitted that his confidence "is definitely coming back."
John was largely viewed as a massive bust after being selected No. 4 overall in 2010 prior to this season, but he's averaged 12 points, 6.3 boards and a steal during the Suns current three-game winning streak. "He worked hard when he wasn't playing to stay ready, which is what you have to do as a professional," Lindsey Hunter said.

Sat Mar 2 201303:17Johnson scores 15 points with three treys
Wes Johnson scored 15 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 6-of-9 shots (including three treys) with six rebounds, two steals and one block in 30 minutes.
Johnson has averaged 8.7 points, 1.1 threes, 4.4 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks over 22 minutes in his last seven games. He might be on the rise but it's equally possible that his inconsistency hinders him, so owners will want to look at this numbers as a baseline and go from there.

Wed Feb 27 201323:58Wesley Johnson hits buzzer-beater Wed.
Wesley Johnson hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to send Wednesday's game to overtime and finished with eight points, two boards, one steal and two 3-pointers in 24 minutes.
He's capable of putting up nice numbers with career averages of 1.0 triples, 0.6 blocks and 0.6 steals in only 22.3 minutes. If Lindsey Hunter plays him 30 minutes per game, those numbers would extrapolate to 1.4 triples, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks. It's only two games in which he's been in the rotation this go 'round and we're not running to pick him up yet, but he's worth a look for anyone that has dead weight.

Wed Feb 27 201300:41Wes Johnson nearly double-doubles Tuesday
Wes Johnson had 14 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two 3-pointers on 6-of-16 shooting off the bench on Tuesday.
Johnson scored a total of 10 points over his previous three games, so this might be a fluke. However, Michael Beasley has fallen out of the rotation for now, and Johnson could eventually heat up. Just keep an eye on him.

Fri Feb 22 201320:08Wes Johnson has earned playing time
Wes Johnson has "definitely earned playing time, according to head coach Lindsey Hunter.
"Definitely. He was positive both games," Hunter said when asked about Wes getting playing time. Johnson has shown several aspects to his game and he's logged a total of 50 minutes in his last two contests. He can be productive in steals and threes, so he'll be worth watching. On a side note, it is a complete mess on the wing for Phoenix right now and it's a situation most owners should avoid until further notice.

Wed Feb 20 201301:07Wes Johnson plays over Michael Beasley
Wes Johnson came off the bench for 14 points, eight rebounds and a 3-pointer on 5-of-8 shooting in 29 minutes on Tuesday.
Michael Beasley played just 21 minutes, hitting 3-of-10 shots for eight points, four rebounds and one assist. It's possible that Johnson has passed him on the depth chart with this performance, so just keep an eye on both players going forward.

Thu Jan 17 201312:13Gentry wants more minutes for Wes Johnson
Alvin Gentry wants to find more minutes for Wes Johnson.
Johnson played 23 minutes on January 12, his most in any game this season. "He's just a victim of the numbers," Gentry said. While Johnson's minutes should increase, he's still not an option in standard fantasy formats.

Mon Dec 10 201209:56Gentry planning to get Johnson minutes
Alvin Gentry plans to plan Wes Johnson more minutes.
With Michael Beasley moved to a bench role and P.J. Tucker (knee) dealing with an injury, Johnson appears primed to return to the rotation. "We're going to try and find a way to get him more court time, because I think he's one guy that can probably help us offensively, especially with his shooting," he said. Johnson is shooting 34.5 percent this season, including 27.3 percent from behind the 3-point line.

Wed Oct 31 201208:20Suns will decline Wes Johnson's option
The Suns will decline Wes Johnson's 2013-14 contract option, but the team reportedly hopes to sign him in the offseason.
Johnson said that he wants to stay in Phoenix, but the Suns are far more likely to use their available cap space in the summer to land a big fish rather than re-signing a marginal contributor like Johnson. The 2010 No. 4 overall pick has a lot to prove with his new team.

Tue Oct 23 201204:39Wes Johnson disappears against the Kings
Wes Johnson struggled to find any offense against the Kings on Monday night, missing all three of his field goal attempts for zero points, two rebounds, two steals, and a block.
Johnson had started to turn public opinion away from the dreaded 'bust' word, and we're not going to forget about his relative improvement based on a night in which Alvin Gentry was clearly experimenting. Whether or not he's worth a flier pick in standard formats was debatable entering tonight, and posting this Minnesota style line isn't helping him, regardless.

Sat Oct 20 201202:45Wes Johnson making some noise for Phoenix
Wes Johnson followed up an 18-point outing on Wednesday with 15 points off the bench on Friday, hitting 6-of-13 shots (including three treys) with one rebound, one assist, and two steals in 28 minutes.
Don't look now but Johnson, widely considered a bust in basketball circles, is starting to show signs of life in his new home. Are these two games enough to take a flier on him in the late rounds of your draft? Probably not, but if he can continue to show promise this upcoming week then he may be onto something. None of the team's starters played more than 19 minutes tonight.

Thu Oct 11 201200:38Wes Johnson leads team with 18 points
Wes Johnson scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting and added two threes in Wednesday's loss.
He shot nine attempts from behind the arc while no other Sun took more than three attempts. He's not likely to have a starting role, but his possible productive in threes, steals and blocks make him someone worth monitoring in most fantasy formats.
